Clockwork Angels: The Novel preview booklet free pdf download

A sampler booklet of Kevin J. Anderson's novelization of Clockwork Angels was given out to industry professionals and booksellers at the Book Expo America in New York City back in late June. Anderson had several copies left after the event and offered to mail out copies to fans who sent him a SASE. After being overwhelmed with requests, they have now decided to make a free pdf version of the sampler booklet available for download as well. You can download your pdf copy at this location. The preview booklet includes introductions by Neil Peart and Anderson, the first three chapters in the novel, lyrics to Caravan and some of the artwork. Anderson also still has hardcopies of the booklet to give away. For details on how to obtain a hardcopy check out these instructions. The novel itself releases around the end of this month, and advance review copies have already been sent out. You can pre-order the audiobook version of Clockwork Angels (narrated by Neil Peart) at this location, and the hardcover edition here.

I think it is the nature of the genre that the writing is not too sophisticated. I would imagine the demographics of sci-fi aren't much different from that of sci-fi movies. Star Wars, for example. If you read the stuff growing up and decide to be a sci-fi writer, you are probably fairly inclined to keep it that way. This would contrast, for example, from the writing of John Barth and other university professors who ready and teach historical literature before writing. Etc.
I suppose Neil might even say "hey, its only sci-fi" just as he's said at the ultimate level their music is only rock---it's not written like Stravinsky, etc. You have to take it for what it is. About wonder and dreaming in an imaginary world you can enjoy, but from which you can still learn something if you're not "above it."
Could they really not find a sharper photograph of Neil?
aimed at a VERY young audience!
I skipped the foreword and went on to the bits from the story - it seems aimed at a young audience - as in like Harry Potter - rather than adult - quite simplisitic and innocent sounding - managed to keep my interest long enough! The file stops just when you become curious - so it achieved its purpose i guess!
It's interesting that Amazon lists this book under Movie Tie-Ins.
What a pile of crap! I've seen better stuff in the childrens library.
This is very nice, since the whole hardcopy version deal required quite a run-around to get. Worth it to have a collectable item, and much easier than getting a first row seat in festival seating like I did once upon a time during the Signals tour, but still harder than a one-click. :)
