UPDATE - 11/28@6:23PM: Here's the 13-minute interview segment from Geddy and Alex's Wednesday appearance on The Hour now up on YouTube (thanks coolphantom190):

----- snip -----

I hope everyone in the US had a great Thanksgiving holiday. The Rush news this past week was dominated by the release of Rush's Snakes & Arrows DVD. Rush.com received a facelift to celebrate the occasion and now features a snazzy new DVD theme along with a new photo gallery of pics from the DVD shoot. There are several teaser videos online too; namely The Larger Bowl, 2112, YYZ, The Spirit of Radio, Far Cry and Limelight. Many screenshots and a description of the menu/packaging can be seen here. The guys have been doing the interview circuit as of late promoting the DVD; Geddy sat down with Billboard magazine, Alex spoke with Artisan News Service, and both Geddy and Alex were guests on The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos Wednesday night. There's been at least one Easter Egg discovered already; you can read all the details here. And reader coolphantom190 let me know that the videos of Far Cry, The Spirit of Radio, and Limelight from the DVD are now available for purchase on iTunes.

John over at Rush fansite Cygnus-X1.net is running his second annual holiday contest. One lucky winner will receive the following prize pack:

* Rush's Retrospective III (CD/DVD Combo)
* The Snakes & Arrows Tour Book - 2008 Edition
* The 2009 Rush Live Wall Calendar
* A Snakes & Arrows 4 GB USB Flash Stick
* The Rare Workin' Them Angels Live Single

To enter go to this link. The winner will be chosen on or around December 20th. Good luck everybody! And a BIG thanks to John for offering this contest.

Those of you who have purchased the Snakes & Arrows DVD are already aware that the DVD contains an insert with info on pre-ordering a deluxe fan pack version of Rush's upcoming Atlantic-era greatest hits package, Retrospective 3. The insert directs fans to an online pre-order site describing the fan pack and mentioning that Retrospective 3 won't be released until March sometime as opposed to January 27th. The fan pack contains an extra live performance and an interview on the DVD (either that or a separate DVD with the extras) along with a lithograph. You can pre-order your fan pack at this link.

We also finally received some new information on the much-anticipated Rush documentary from filmmakers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn - creators of the critically acclaimed, award-winning documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. You can see all the details in this post and also check out the sellsheet.

Wired.com has put together a list of the 10 Best Songs About Cars. Making the list at #9 is Rush's Red Barchetta. Here's what they say about it:

Lyricist and drummer extraordinaire Neil Peart is a hardcore motorcycle fanatic, but he's clearly spent some time behind the wheel. This track from 1981's Moving Pictures perfectly captures the imagery of tearing up the countryside in a vintage Ferrari.

Thanks to Power Windows for the heads up.

Adventureland is a new film from director Greg Mottola of Superbad fame that is set to release this March. The trailer for the movie features Rush's Limelight along with a funny Rush moment; about 45 seconds into the trailer Limelight plays in the background then fades out at about the 1:15 mark, where one of the characters starts to sing along but forgets the lyrics. Here's the trailer on YouTube:

Thanks to readers Phil and Shane for the info. Have a great weekend everyone!
