[Smashing Pumpkins Summon 'Symphony' In Studio]

Chicago-born alt-rock band The Smashing Pumpkins went into the studio earlier this year to work on their first album since breaking up back in 2000. Frontman Billy Corgan has repeatedly cited Rush as a major influence and the band once covered Limelight during one of their shows in Toronto in March of 2000. Drummer Jimmy Chamberlin recently posted several updates on the progress being made in the studio on the group's MySpace page. In one of the posts he thanks "the Grateful Dead, Rush [and] Billy Thorpe for their guidance in this hour of need." Thanks to reader Chris for bringing this to our attention.
