Updates and other random Rush stuff

UPDATE - 4/19@9:32AM: Regarding the Rush Q107 interview, reader Shane T emailed Jeff Woods and obtained the following information. At least one (possibly more) teaser interview clip, featuring Geddy, Alex and Neil, will be released this Friday, April 20th. He also said that the following radio station homepages will have the local airdates and airtimes of the special when it's released: q107.com, q107fm.ca , y108.ca, thehawk.ca, rock101.com.

It's update time once again and there's a lot going on as usual. The new album is less than 2 weeks away from release! Canadian dates for the Snakes & Arrows world tour went on presale yesterday and will go on regular sale this weekend. So tickets for all shows on the tour are now on sale in some capacity. I hope everyone had good luck getting tickets. If you have tickets, don't forget to check-in for the show(s) you're attending in the Tour Section!

About 50 users have taken up the Setlist Competition challenge so far. For those who don't know, readers Spindrifter and Liverpool.78 came up with the idea of having a little informal setlist competition/game. All the details can be found in this post. Just read the rules and enter your setlist in the comments. This is more of a game than a competition; no prizes or anything nor a formal winner. After opening night we can compare everybody's setlist to the real setlist and see how close we came. Have fun!

Many thanks to everyone who has donated to the site. If you haven't received your RUSH IS A BAND bumper sticker yet you should very soon. I'm trying to send them out in weekly batches on Mondays. If you want one of your own, just make a donation to the site and I'll send you one! (See donation button to the right under important items)

Mother's day is fast-approaching (May 15th!) my fellow Rush fans. If you aren't already aware of it, Between Sun & Moon is an online handcrafted jewelry store with Rush-inspired merchandise. As she has done several times in the past, the owner Katy is offering an exclusive coupon for Rush is a Band readers. Show your wife, mother or grandmother how much you appreciate her by ordering her a custom handmade bracelet with her children's names or birthstones. Place your custom order online by April 25th. Use discount code: RUSHISABAND for Free Priority Mail shipping with any $30.00 purchase. Gift packaging is always free! Thanks Katy!

More emails are a-flyin' from Amazon and Best Buy regarding the Snakes & Arrows Limited Edition DVD Album. This time they confirm the June 5th release date first reported by Power Windows back on April 5th. This date seems pretty solid now seeing as the Rush Backstage Club lists the release date as June 5th. Speaking of the Rush Backstage Club, they have now given the DVD album a new moniker; MVI (Music Video Interactive disc). I like DVD-Album better. :)

Details on the Jeff Woods Q107 interview with Rush came out recently. Jeff posted several of the questions he received from fans along with answers from Alex and Geddy. No news yet on exactly when the interview will air. Geddy and Alex will also appear on the Kim Mitchell show on the day after the album release live from the Hard Rock Cafe. They are also running a contest for you and a guest to be invited along on the interview! Contest details here. Thanks to koje for the heads up.

I added the 98.5 WNCX (Cleveland) Alex Lifeson interview to the radio interviews post a few days ago. Nothing earth-shattering; it's much like the others, but I hadn't mentioned it yet. I'll let you know as I add more.

And here's a little news courtesy Power Windows regarding the early unreleased Rush track Garden Road:

This one slipped under the radar ... Rush's unreleased "Garden Road" is covered by Mos Generator on the Sucking the 70s: Back in the Saddle Again 2-CD classic rock covers compilation released February 27 (click for sample). A cover of "Working Man", performed by the Suplecs, was included on this album's predecessor, Sucking The 70s, released in 2002. ...

If you've never heard Garden Road you can listen to a live version of it using the player above. It's an unreleased Rush original that hasn't been performed since their 1974 tour.

Here's a satirical article from The Daily Probe entitled Rush Chalks Up Dismal Record Sales to Shitty Songs. Don't get too mad - it's just satire. :)

In other news, Geddy Lee was spotted at the Jays-Red Sox game last night and was officially dubbed the Fan of the Game. Thanks to Katy and Brian C for the heads up.

And let's not forget about the fan-organized, Rush tour-related charity Rush to Fight AIDs that I posted about a few weeks back. It's cranking along and donations are starting to flow in already! For details on the project and information as to how you can help out visit the Rush to Fight AIDs MySpace page.

And this is a little reminder about the Rush is a Band presale and preorder promotion put on by MusicToday.
