Updates and other random Rush stuff

UPDATE - 4/13@2:59PM: Spindrifter noted that FMQB.com has a recent pic of Alex and Geddy from their FMQB interview (see below) posted on their website. It's captioned:

At the recording for the exclusive FMQB radio special Inside Rush: Snakes & Arrows, FMQB’s Mike Parrish grabbed this shot with Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee.

My database server is/has been moved today so if you notice any odd happenings that's probably the reason. The site might be down for a couple minutes here and there.

As I posted earlier today, I've implemented Personal Contact Forms for users to facilitate easy communication amongst registered users. For details, see this post.

I've started adding European dates to the Tour Section. I have all the UK dates and the Rotterdam dates loaded in. I should have them all by the end of the weekend.

Reader Spindrifter and others want to have an informal setlist competition for the upcoming tour. I should have some rules and a thread for posting the setlists up sometime over the weekend. There are no prizes or anything planned at this time; it's just for shits and giggles.

Dirk let me know that the Snakes & Arrows CD and DVD Album are now available for preorder from the Rush Backstage Club. They list the release date of the DVD Album as June 5th so I'd go with that; you can't get much more official than the Rush Backstage Club.

The Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie, which features the vocal talents of Neil Peart, premiers today! I doubt I'll get a chance to see it, but if anybody does please share your thoughts. On the same subject, reader chutch15 informed me that on last night's Aqua Teen episode, the creators did a "live" performance of the Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary song. During which, at the bottom of the screen, they kept putting up "Aqua Fakts" with info about Rush, including that Alex is the only one of Rush that has not been involved in ATHF yet, etc.

2 more Geddy radio interviews have been added to the radio interview post. One is from Detroit's WCSX. It was recorded last week on April 5th and can be accessed here. Thanks to Michael for the heads up. The other was aired yesterday morning on Baltimore's 98 Rock. It can be accessed here. Thanks to Earthshiner and Digital Scott 2112 for the heads up. Both have also been added to the player in this post.

A couple weeks ago I mentioned that in the week prior to the release of Snakes & Arrows, FMQB Productions will be releasing a one-hour radio special featuring an interview with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson titled Inside Rush: Snakes & Arrows. Firefighter SAL tells me that Geddy & Alex were in New York last week to record the interview and it is on target to air on select stations between April 27th and May 1st. FMQB will post a listing of stations with air dates as the show nears. Here are the details from the site:

Reader Sean pointed me to a very interesting website that allows fans to request that a band come to their city. These requests go to promoters and give incentive for bookings in a particular city. Apparently Dream Theater and many other bands are using the site in an official capacity. As of right now there are about 12 different cities looking for Rush across the globe and growing rapidly. So for all those Rush fans in overlooked cities, you now have an outlet to voice your request for Rush to play your town.

Matt Crossman of the Sporting News let me know that he recently interviewed Geddy Lee and will soon have the interview transcribed on his blog for us. He talks baseball and Rush with Geddy. As soon as it's up, I'll put up a separate post.

In the odd Rush stuff department - in addition to the Geddy Lee lego figure there are now also an Alex Lifeson lego figure and a Neil Peart lego figure available on eBay.

And as a reminder, the fan-organized, Rush tour-related charity Rush to Fight AIDs that I posted about a couple weeks ago is really taking off! For details on the project and information as to how you can help out visit the Rush to Fight AIDs MySpace page.

And this is a little reminder about the Rush is a Band presale and preorder promotion put on by MusicToday. To sign-up for the promotion simply send an email containing your Age, Full Name and Address to riabbiggestfanzz@aol.com. You can sign up anytime from now through April 30th. Three winners will be chosen and each winner will receive a prize pack containing a Limited-Edition Rush T Shirt (ONLY available for purchase through the Musictoday Rush Online Advance Ticket Presale) and a copy of Snakes & Arrows on CD.

That's all for now. Have a great weekend!
