AWESOME! THAT WAS FAST! Listening now........................

Do you have a PETAH?!
#3 - Posted 4/4/07 @2:10PM by Don [contact]

So what do y'all think of Alex's statement on WRIF that Brian Eno was considered as a possible producer for Snakes and Arrows?
#4 - Posted 4/4/07 @2:16PM by highwater [contact]

I love Eno's work, both as a producer and an artist. Would have been very interesting to say the least, but everything with Nick so far has sounded fantastic so ....

Bit of synchronicity: listening to the interview with Alex and decided to pre-order William Gibson's next book from Amazon. The total? $21.12.
#5 - Posted 4/4/07 @3:28PM by Edisonbaggins [contact]

Thank God they didn't go with Bob fucked-up-Metallica Rock...

"...bits of our whole history..."
That sounds awesome to me!
#7 - Posted 4/4/07 @3:50PM by Disciple of Lerxst [contact]

Sounds great...and finally got to hear how you pronounce their producers name...I don't know how to say it now but.....

Oh yeah..
Thanks Ed!!!!

Just to let everyone know KSHE radio in St. Louis is having Geddy on @ 4 pm (Central Time) and the stream at kshe95.com
#9 - Posted 4/4/07 @3:54PM by NCDigitalMan [contact]

Interesting to listen to Alex talk about his ordeal in Florida. Neil wrote about it in Travelling Music, but it's wild to hear Alex talking about it.

GASWUSLO - but now it's high....
#10 - Posted 4/4/07 @4:01PM by Disciple of Lerxst [contact]

Yeah real interesting to hear about the Naples incident.

Sounds like he had a crappy time at that party.
#11 - Posted 4/4/07 @4:15PM by Dirk [contact]

Seems like all three of them each have their own touchy tragic story they don't feel too comfortable talking about in public. Neil has the loss of Jackie and Selena, Alex has the bad party in Florida, and Geddy has his fantasy baseball comercial.
#12 - Posted 4/4/07 @4:21PM by Rolling Bone [contact]

Don't care about the intricate effects of a Tazer gun!!
More interested in the philosophy, ideals and general making of the new album.

but that's just me ...
#13 - Posted 4/4/07 @4:56PM by Jaybird [contact]

"Pretty loyal fan base??"

Make that "Very loyal" Big Al!!
#14 - Posted 4/4/07 @5:28PM by redlinedrummer [contact]

Geddy told kshe95.com today that there will be strings on the new album..............hell ya baby!!!!!
#15 - Posted 4/4/07 @5:33PM by Vic [contact]

Big Al is the man. He's such a creative amazing guitarist.

And strings have never failed Rush before. Bring 'em on.
#16 - Posted 4/4/07 @5:40PM by tygr [contact]

"..and Geddy has his fantasy baseball commercial." ROTFLMAO!!
#17 - Posted 4/4/07 @5:53PM by skl183 [contact]

whacky jiveass DEEJAAAYYY!

Top o mornin' to ya hopper?

Hope Alex had a LOT of coffee to get this press run going.
#18 - Posted 4/4/07 @5:56PM by skl183 [contact]

o man listen to the laugh on that Detroit deejays.

He was double teamed. Must be glad he's on the phone doing this.
#19 - Posted 4/4/07 @5:57PM by limlight81 [contact]

Hey did anybody listen to St. Louis KSHE intervied Geddy Lee. I did and what is up with THE KSHE HALL OF FAME sounds corny to me. Anyway but be a RUSH fan so I am cool with that.

L8,
Shane
#20 - Posted 4/4/07 @6:18PM by Rodney Kolterman [contact]

I think we should all care about "the intricate effects of taser guns - no matter whom law enforcement officials are using them on... According to Alex, over a hundred people have died from their applications. (And he said he was "tasered" six (6) times?!?!?!)

If this is truly the case; maybe his upcoming legal action will draw attention or shed light on possible and potential misconduct and abuse by ANY police departments (not just Florida's) on ANY citizen (not just Alex).
#21 - Posted 4/4/07 @6:30PM by Reed Lover [contact]

Alex must have taken quite a whipping in Florida, he thinks he was in jail for 2 years....LOL

...thanks for posting these Ed...
#22 - Posted 4/4/07 @6:32PM by Vic [contact]

Yeah, Reed, I noticed that. Maybe it just felt like two years.

thanx for sharing the link to this interview.all your hard time consuming work is much appreciated..Wife just joined a beach club today for the summer to keep the kids busy....She says and I quote "your going to 8 RUSH shows so I'm joining a beach club"..guy who works at beachclub laughed and goes on to say how he is a drummer(the usual "i love neil peart") etc...Yes that is right 8 shows my mid life crisis is peaking..

#24 - Posted 4/4/07 @9:30PM by Dirk [contact]

um, ed, looks like you spelled Geddy Lee wrong on the player.
#25 - Posted 4/4/07 @9:31PM by Dirk [contact]

thats better :)
#26 - Posted 4/4/07 @9:32PM by rushisaband [contact]

I always get those 2 guys mixed up... is Geddy the guy with the big nose??
:)
#27 - Posted 4/4/07 @9:59PM by Scotto [contact]

I just listened to all 4 interviews. All are good interviews, even got goosebumps once or twice.

Loved the part where Alex says each of their songs is like a child.

I always like to hear Geddy's baseball input as well and he delivered again.

Counting down until Snakes & Arrows is released and looking forward to seeing the fellas in Marysville & Concord, CA in August.
#28 - Posted 4/4/07 @10:45PM by jediyyz [contact]

Good to hear the excitement in Alex and Geddy's voices!! Sounds like we can expect even more great music in the future!! Wouldn't mind visiting Alex's golf course someday! Bring on Snakes & Arrows!!

K, I feel as if I'm slipping through the cracks here! Been dealing with some family issues today and just am NOW downloading the interviews!!!

Whatta klutz I am today! In some sense, I feel as if I've been Taz'd a few times today!

#7 Good job... You FINALLY made me laugh!

Wait, oh wait a min here!

#26... Who the hell are you with the humor???

Anyway, will be finishing up the loads then listening to em later!

Welp, its a good thing that they called it 'T4E' as it could've been 'TESOCAKU'!
#30 - Posted 4/4/07 @11:06PM by PaulTheRushGeek [contact]

Wow, great interviews and very interesting! Thanks so much,
Ed, for making these available to us guys out in "the sticks." And to those of you who did the recordings as well! Can't wait to make the drive to Chicago Sept 8!
#31 - Posted 4/4/07 @11:07PM by PaulTheRushGeek [contact]

PS - had to drive to OHare last week and was listening to "The Loop" but they didn't play "Far Cry" at the time. :-(
#32 - Posted 4/5/07 @12:03AM by MMG-fawn-eyed-girl [contact]

Thank you for posting these great interviews; I am even more excited for the new album and for the tour. I agree with jediyyz (cool big brother) that is wonderful to hear Geddy Lee's and Alex Lifeson's enthusiasm towards the new album!!!
#33 - Posted 4/5/07 @1:14AM by Codackussell [contact]

Sorry, just had to share VUPHAHUS!! Haha!
#34 - Posted 4/5/07 @4:08AM by Rolling Bone [contact]

Sure the use of Taser guns is an important issue, but it has its own debate requirements, a time and place for the right concerns, right now though when you've got Alex Lifeson in front of you are you really going to talk about Taser guns when he's the best guitarist in our solar system?
#35 - Posted 4/5/07 @7:44AM by leezgirl [contact]

Update: Alex is now going to be on WZLX 100.7 Boston 8 am Friday.
#36 - Posted 4/5/07 @9:18AM by afterimage289 [contact]

Did anyone else notice the interviewer who talked to Geddy kept repeating 18th studio album?? If you're going to interview a legend like Geddy, get your info right!! it's #19 dummy!!
#37 - Posted 4/5/07 @9:20AM by afterimage289 [contact]

Alex is supposed to be on 98.5 WNCX Cleveland this morning....
#38 - Posted 4/5/07 @10:48AM by Spindrifter [contact]

In all of the years of being a Rush fan, I never knew that Ged and Al lived 5 mins (2 blocks) from eachother!

#28 - 'Sounds like we can expect even more great music in the future!!' Yup, I know we will!!!

I havent listened to all of the interviews yet. (yeah, I know, shame on me!) But, I wonder if the guys have rounded up yet to start rehearsing?

Todays lucky # is 26. 26 more days till 'S&A' my friends!

FRISLASI ~ Lives between Ged, Al and Neil.
#39 - Posted 4/5/07 @10:51AM by Spindrifter [contact]

Btw, forgot to add... Ed, thanks for the great job of keeping up us on top of things!
#40 - Posted 4/5/07 @11:24AM by billydonald9 [contact]

I thought that the DJs that interviewed Alex on "The Bone" were total jackasses...I felt very sorry for Alex being put on the spot about having to answer questions about the New Years incident. These are the kinds of questions that should have been very "off limits" for interviewers.
#41 - Posted 4/5/07 @11:28AM by John E [contact]

Hey Spindrifter,

According to the interviews I've heard, they are in the process of putting together (lights, background screens, etc) the show and have not began to rehearse yet.

I agree about the SF jockeys. Alex was candid but it seemed more like they hit a nerve with him and he started to vent. Maybe he was looking for an opportunity since he has been muzzled by his lawyers for so long. In any case, they thought it was funny. Not cool.
#42 - Posted 4/5/07 @11:55AM by Spindrifter [contact]

#41 - Hey, John ~ Thanks for the heads sup. Have listened to Als WRIF and Geds q1043 right now!

I'm starting to get more pumped up as we countdown backwards!

Hey I know that the lyrics for 'Far Cry' have floated around in here. Would anyone be kewl enuff to post em again?

DRELESTO
#43 - Posted 4/5/07 @12:03PM by Steve [contact]

I agree with billy and John about the SF interviewers. First of all, it's supposed to be an interview about the new album, and secondly it did seem like it was a big joke to them. Alex just kinda played along, he has to be diplomatic on the air because he's doing P.R. for the album. Those questions were way out of line I thought.
#44 - Posted 4/5/07 @12:41PM by Geddlee [contact]

Great work Ed; thanks!
#45 - Posted 4/5/07 @12:50PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Which ones were the SF inter. Was it Lamont & Tannelli? (know that I didnt spell that right) If it was and you dont know the history of 'L&T' back in their early days at 92.3 KSJO in San Jose, Ca. Then, it would explain the joking of the tasers and Al.

If it was them, they dont mean any harm or foul! It's just their nature of humor.

When Howard Stern was just getting started and went national in the early 90's, 'L&T' were just as bad.... But, not involving women the way Stern does.... They're just big jokesters! I havent even listened to them in years (around 96-97) and wondered if they were still clowning together!

I'm feeling a little 'WALUGAVU' today!
#46 - Posted 4/5/07 @1:17PM by max o'webster [contact]

This is great to hear from the UK. Cheers Ed.
#47 - Posted 4/5/07 @1:24PM by limlight81 [contact]

Awesome interviews from Geddy and Alex. Now I am soooo pumped up to buy tickets for Irvine Verizon Wireless Amp. and the new Album. I am sooo excited to hear the RUSH songs. But I do like Vapor Trails which is a good album. It did took me awahile to get hook on it. I bought Vapor Trails while I was in London and bought it at Tower Records Picadilly Circus. That was a awesome day. Ever since then I played the crap out if it. Ok I am outta here til next time. RUSH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

L8,
Shane
#48 - Posted 4/5/07 @1:37PM by Fiat [contact]

Minneapolis KQRS interview is below par. Tom & the folks let Alex ramble way too long. Sounds awkward. And the whole sappy thing about a new generation being around because either they or the band "care" was vacuous at best.
#49 - Posted 4/5/07 @2:01PM by Mark In CTown [contact]

Anybody tape the WNCX show with Alex? Bill Lewis is a pretty good interviewer....

Loved the Loop interview, that dude was definitely a hard core Rush fan. Glad to see Geddy pimp my Indians along with the Twins and White Sox. Go Tribe!
#50 - Posted 4/5/07 @2:11PM by limlight81 [contact]

Yeah you're right about that Flat. I mean it's cool that younger kids like RUSH today. Learning their music is a good waynad how music is so important for RUSH and fans. Last time I went to see RUSH was athe Vapor Trails and this yeck yanking about he has been a fan of RUSH for ten years. I just tottaly laughed my a** off. It's funny to hear people that they are a RUSH fan. It's pretty cool and exciting. Of course RUSH fans have diffrent opinion about everything and I have to respect that to all walks of life nad guys and gals on here who leave comments on here. Hey !!! Ed keep up the good work on your site. Is anybody going to the Irvine show and maybe to try to get pre-sale please let me know what is the passowrd. I know I should be getting something in my email from MUSICTODAY.COM about the the password.

L8,
Shane
#51 - Posted 4/5/07 @2:21PM by Don [contact]

Geddy confirmed the theory that "every song on the album has its own cover." I take that to mean we'll see lots and lots of Hugh Syme images throughout the booklet. Cool! That more than makes up for the lack of a Hugh Syme cover for the album proper.

DOBRETHA - Aretha Franklin's little sister, perhaps?
#52 - Posted 4/5/07 @2:24PM by Dirk [contact]

I think the WMMR interview is the most relaxed, most informing, and overall, the most enjoyable of the 6.

I can't wait for the weekend, its almost FRIRAPHI!!!!!!!
#53 - Posted 4/5/07 @2:28PM by Fiat [contact]

Agree totally about WMMR being best so far. Geddy is the smooth cat who should really do these. Alex has a little George Bush thing going on when he talks. Not as bad as banker puppet Bush but still a little painful here and there.
#54 - Posted 4/5/07 @2:29PM by Dave [contact]

Shane, if you get the Irvine password, can you send it to me at dnc1995@yahoo.com?
#55 - Posted 4/5/07 @2:37PM by limlight81 [contact]

You got it Dave
#56 - Posted 4/5/07 @2:42PM by Pat [contact]

Geddy doesn't deny that the DVD version of the album will only see 25,000 copies, so I went ahead and bought it from MusicToday, which, I figure, won't have any problems supplying the thing (like Amazon had). If BestBuy were still selling it at $15.99, I'd likely have gone with them, but I don't know if 25,000 will sell out like that or be available in stores for a while...

It's interesting to hear several interviews meant for listeners in specific cities. It gets a bit redundant after a while, but each interview seems to have something new and interesting.
#57 - Posted 4/5/07 @2:56PM by Dave [contact]

I really thought I was gonna hold out on the DVD but after listening to the Geddy interview, I had to give in. Just ordered my copy from Best Buy.
#58 - Posted 4/5/07 @3:00PM by redlinedrummer [contact]

This was by far the best interview IMHO!!!! The DVD news is just killing me here............Can't breath anymore, then Snakes and Arrows now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#59 - Posted 4/5/07 @3:07PM by limlight81 [contact]

Oh boy well everybody is itching to hear the new stuff I like this excitment heheheh. Keep it going guys. I was wondering if bestbuy accept debit card. Cause I want to order the DVD album.
#60 - Posted 4/5/07 @4:00PM by Dave [contact]

Limlight81, if you have a Master Card or Visa logo on your debit card, they accept it.
#61 - Posted 4/5/07 @4:24PM by limlight81 [contact]

I knew it! A cover for each song! Yaaaaaay!
#63 - Posted 4/5/07 @5:49PM by Vic [contact]

Yeah man, cover for each song sounds farging stupendous.

The MMR interview was great. Pierre Robert (pronounced row-bear) has been a dj there for over 20 years. He's a cool hippie who's a Rush fan. Preston is a morning guy who has a pretty funny show (gadzooks).

I saw Pierre after an Audioslave show at the Electric Factory in Philly on a pre-releae tour right before Out of Exile came out, and there's a bit in the show where Chris does a couple of acoustic songs by himself. He incorporated 2112's Soliloquy into the set (was great by the way). I see Pierre by the exit after the show and I go "HE PLAYED RUSH!!" And Pierre goes "YEAH!!"
#64 - Posted 4/5/07 @5:58PM by skl183 [contact]

I'll just listen to the WMMR interview.

I hate these jiveass turkey deejays.
#65 - Posted 4/5/07 @6:16PM by Liverpool.78 [contact]

Hi everyone,- posting in here from East of the Big Pond. Thank goodness for Ed and this great site! I don't think I would have even KNOWN about the interviews otherwise. I listened to a couple of them this morning before I went out to 'press my nose against the grind stone'. It was great to hear how enthusiastic the guys sound about the CD and interesting to hear that they had gotten back to writing on acoustic guitars, just like they did in the days when I first got tuned in to them in the 2112 era.

There seems to be a real buzz building around the release of this CD and the upcoming tour. I feel so happy for all the long haul fans who have been there almost as long as the band, and also all the younger generation, just discovering Rush, who have a wealth of great material to listen to as well as having the opportunity to see one of the greatest live bands ever to grace a stage.
#66 - Posted 4/5/07 @6:30PM by John E [contact]

WMMR is a great interview. That's how its supposed to be done. I've never heard of that station or those DJ's until now and I am impressed. Great Job !!

You can tell Geddy respected them too. The guys did their homework and asked questions pertaining to the songs, lyrics, stage show, CD photos, recording process and the DVD.
#67 - Posted 4/5/07 @6:32PM by John E [contact]

Hey Ed, you should change this site to therushreport. You are doing an awesome job man. A real labor of love huh ?

The amount of info you collect is like the drudgereport.

#65 ~ Liver, a big 'Hey there' shout out back at cha from the West side of the pond!

I get to 'Thank you' for responding my question regarding the fanhood of the guys from the Eastern half. That was very cool!

#66 ~ John, I bet they gather up the great 'homework' info from coming in here and read everything we chit-chat about and write!

Also, is me or do Geds and Als interviews sound like there a little music buzzing in the backgrounds? I know that Al was asked in one and I really couldnt make out what his response was! Just wondering if they are rehearsing. But, keeping it low-keyed!

Those crackheads at "The Bone" even had the audacity to ask Alex to "come visit us in the studio sometime" after harrasing him about the taser incident.

Meanwhile, there are 13 new songs that these "DJ's" didn't bother to ask about.

I guess Tom Petty was right about DJ's back in 2003.
#72 - Posted 4/5/07 @8:47PM by jediyyz [contact]

Thank you Ed and everyone else for allowing us to hear interviews we otherwise would never get to take in. I am very happy when I notice how pleased Geddy and Alex are with the results of the record. It's getting closer each day..."excitement so thick you could cut in with a knife"

Does anyone know why the Las Vegas gig is only listed on rush.com?! It doesn't seem to exist...not on ticketmaster, live nation, or even the MGM Grand web site!! Any knowledge would be much appreciated!!

#73:

I remember reading somewhere that the synth broke and while it was being repaired they shot those vids to pass the time. Not anything like the documentary we'll soon be seeing. (Not nearly soon enough, though.)

HUCLAROC (Tom Sawyer's bestest buddy listening to his favorite Rush tune, baby!)
#75 - Posted 4/5/07 @10:00PM by Dirk [contact]

#73 & 74

In the "pop up video" of limelight, it says that it's the sound board that was broke, and in the background you can actually see the repair guys working on it. Either way, I wouldn't consider those to be anything similar to a documentary like what we're expecting for snakes and arrows.

Hey spin, this is for you......

Rush - FAR CRY
Pariah dogs and wandering madmen
Barking at strangers and speaking in tongues
The ebb and flow of tidal fortune
Electrical changes are charging up the young

It's a far cry from the world we thought we'd inherit
It's a far cry from the way we thought we'd share it
You can almost feel the current flowing
You can almost see the circuits blowin'

One day I feel I'm on top of the world
And the next it's falling in on me
I can get back on, I can get back on
One day I feel I'm ahead of the wheel
And the next it's rollin' over me
I can get back on, I can get back on

Whirlwind life of faith and betrayal
Rising angle, fall back and repeat
Slow degrees on the dark horizon
Full moon rising lays silver at your feet

It's a far cry from the world we thought we'd inherit
It's a far cry from the way we thought we'd share it
You can almost feel the current flowing
You can almost see the circuits blowin'

One day I feel I'm on top of the world
And the next it's falling in on me
I can get back on, I can get back on
One day I feel I'm ahead of the wheel
And the next it's rollin' over me
I can get back on, I can get back on

It's a far cry from the world we thought we'd inherit
(You can almost see the serpent growin')
(You can almost feel the planets glowin')

One day I feel I'm on top of the world
And the next it's falling in on me
I can get back on, I can get back on
One day I feel I'm ahead of the wheel
And the next it's rollin' over me
I can get back on, I can get back on

One day I fly through a crack in the sky
And the next it's falling in on me
I can get back on, I can get back on
Ah-oh-oh-oh! I can get back on, I can get back on

I dunno.. sounds like Rise in anger, fall back and repeat to me instead of Rising angle, fall back and repeat. But of course I could be wrong (although that hasn't happened yet today).

'BIFRASOS' - Biff Tanner's own line of 'Sun God Hill Valley Hot Sauce' (available for a limited time)..

I also agree that it sounds more like "Rise in anger", but given how Neil writes, "angle" more closely matches "degrees" on the next line.

MITROMOU (How an anti-Mormon liberal Democrat might feel about voting for the Massachusetts governor for president in 2008: Mit Rom? Ew!)
