Snakes & Arrows to debut new 8TRACK Album format
Posted at 8:15AM | comments (38)

Snakes & Arrows 8TRACKRush's 19th studio album Snakes & Arrows, along with the new Stryken album, will be the first albums released on Warner Music's new "8TRACK album" format in addition to the standard CD format. The new format release is rumored to be a 25,000 copy limited edition, and will include a special 2112 page booklet containing Neil Peart's collected MySpace bulletins, Alex Lifeson's shopping lists and Geddy Lee's fantasy baseball stats. Amazon.com has also added a link for the Snakes & Arrows Limited Edition here.

The 8TRACK is an endless loop magnetic tape cartridge consisting of a single reel carrying a continuous loop of standard 1/4-inch, plastic, oxide-coated recording tape running at 3.75 inches per second. Program starts and stops are signaled by low-frequency tones. It's state-of-the-art technology. I think our fans will love it says a spokesman for Rush's management. Because of production delays the new format 8TRACK will not be available until sometime in the next 6 years.

This is soooo old school guys and gals. What a groovy 8 track it is. Feels like that days when it was innocent back in the 70's I was a kid. I can remember back in 1972 when I went to London. Then too Singapore in 1975 to 1980. So the music reminded me the days when I was a kid. Reason why that I have visit there is that my grandfather used to work in the Oil business. He was the Exc. Director for the Far East. He spoiled me rotten I tell ya. Oh yes they did sell 8 track in the far east. Gosh I miss the days man. I wish I was a kid again. Oh well life goes on and I will be looking forward to the new album in a month from now. Have a great April Fool's day guys and gals.

L8,
Shane

Way too funny, Ed! Hey, does anyone out there have an 8-Track of 2112? "Hold the red star proudly (click) high in hand!" :-)
#25 - Posted 4/1/07 @3:56PM by Ant [contact]

Hey, it was either this or Neil Peart Plus Shampoo or Geddy Lee Jeans, right?
#26 - Posted 4/1/07 @5:20PM by toddb [contact]

I love the '70's...
#27 - Posted 4/1/07 @5:29PM by JediSushiChef [contact]

JediYYZ, what color crystal have you in your illustrious light saber? Where /when did you last catch the boyz live?
#28 - Posted 4/1/07 @5:33PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Oh-Oh, one Jedi was enuff for us to handle. Yet, another?
#29 - Posted 4/1/07 @7:57PM by Scotto [contact]

That is funnier than hell....I was laughing outloud.....I still remember my Farewell To Kings 8 Track, I think my first Rush 8 Track.....Cheers, Scotto

Call me a 'GEEK', but I actually fell for the whole thing lock stock and barrel. Knowing RUSHES humor I wouldn't put it past those guys. I was trying to clear the cob webs from my 70s memory banks for a short spell. I thought "That old 8 Track deck is somewhere around here" I could dig it up right now and hook it up to work in my house and my car using an inverter. Then I could go on Amazon right now and buy it. DARN! I really wanted to see Alex's shopping list. You know what?.....We're all GEEKS and I love it!!!!!!!!!!!Happy FOOLS DAY world....see ya at the stage.

"Sushi"...I prefer green...last saw Rush on the R30 tour in Las Vegas(last of the 6 shows the family and I enjoyed)! I really lingered in the MGM Grand Garden Arena after the gig because I really felt it could be the last time seeing the band live. Man, am I grateful that feeling wasn't true! Spin, I'm not that bad...am I?

Good one Ed! And Stryken, a Christian metal band, only relased that one album. Thank God.
#33 - Posted 4/1/07 @10:13PM by grayflannelsuit [contact]

So wait, this won't actually be available? ; )
#34 - Posted 4/1/07 @10:43PM by Spindrifter [contact]

#31 - Naw, yer not that bad anymore! (LMAO!!!!) Just kidding pal! Yer kewl! Even though we hated eachother at first, but, yer kewl! Btw, 'RTB' has moved up a notch in the last week and has replaced 'MP'

See folks.... This is what Eds site can do to us guys! (LOL)

Btw, I dont think that you'll have to stroll around after the show thinking it was your last.... I'm willing to put $ down and bet that we'll see them back in 3-5 years after this tour! I really do! (MARK MY WORDS)

'CHAPHADI' Vanna is doing better today!

"Crush the Head of Satan" is my favorite Stryken composition.
#36 - Posted 4/2/07 @11:50AM by Wayne in Wyoming [contact]

Ed.... very nice....

I would have bought the damn thing. I could have stored it along with my other 8 track tape " Full Tilt" which I bought back in the early 80's, had 'Let My Love Open the Door", "Whip It", "Heart of Glass" and other nutty 80's 'hits'.
#37 - Posted 4/2/07 @4:50PM by scottc [contact]

Strangely I never have owned a Rush 8 track, but I did have Jethro Tull -Aqualung..hehe
#38 - Posted 7/28/08 @7:01PM by Margo [contact]

My aunt had 2112 on an 8 Track and I remember riding around with her in her 1970 Dodge Challenger back in 1977 listening to it. She even had Permanent Waves on 8 Track.
