Tour dates open thread
Posted at 12:37 PM | comments (66)

UPDATE - 3/13@10:45PM: Got another one. The Montage Mountain in Scranton PA on June 29th. I got this from someone who works for one of the major sponsors of the venue.

UPDATE - 3/13@3:51PM: Reader Paul has heard a rumor that Rush will play the Newcastle Metro Arena in the UK on October 5th. That would certainly jibe with the rumored date of October 3rd at the SECC Arena in Glasgow.

UPDATE - 3/13@9:39AM: Reader Patrick tells me that Rush will play the SECC Arena in Glasgow, UK on October 3rd. Cool.

UPDATE - 3/13@7:05AM: It looks like the rumor of the tour date announcement being pushed back was true. No official tour date announcement has been made as of the moment. I guess we'll have to wait. I'll continue to let you know of any more dates I hear about in separate posts.

UPDATE - 3/12@5:50PM: Hmm. The ticketmaster Rush page no longer has the Cincinnati date up. No idea why. I guess I'll place it back in the unconfirmed column for now. Thanks for the comments guys!

Last week I posted about how tour dates would be announced on Rush.com today. So far - no tour dates (although the new site looks cool). The site just says Tour dates coming sssssoon!. I've also heard a rumor that the Rush.com tour dates announcement has been pushed back a week - although I can't confirm that. Either way, some new dates are trickling in from different sources. Ticketmaster.com's Rush page is listing a date of September 1st for a show at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, OH. Show starts at 7:30PM and tickets go on sale April 14th! So I think we can safely say that this date is confirmed too. Thanks to everybody who sent me this link. Mike from Philly is also reporting that Rush will play the Tweeter Center in Philadelphia on August 4th. I've also heard that they'll play Ottawa this fall but not sure of a specific date.

Here's the list of dates I have so far. I'll be updating it throughout the day as we learn more:

Jun. 13 - Nashville, TN @ Starwood Amphitheater (??) see here
Jun. 15 - West Palm Beach, FL @ Sound Advice Amphitheater
Jun. 16 - Tampa, FL @ Ford Amphitheater @ Florida State Fairgrounds
Jun. 18 - Atlanta, GA @ HiFi Buys Amphitheater
Jun. 19 - Charlotte, NC @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
Jun. 27 - Mansfield, MA @ Tweeter Center
Jun. 29 - Scranton PA @ Montage Mountain
Jun. 30 - Saratoga Springs, NY @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center
Jul. 02 - Wantaugh, NY @ Jones Beach Amphitheater
Jul. 04 - Darien Lake, NY @ Six Flags
Jul. 07 - Homdel, NJ @ PNC Arts Center
Jul. 09 - Uncasville, CT @ Mohegan Sun Arena
Aug. 04 - Philadelphia, PA @ Tweeter Center
Sep. 01 - Cincinnati, OH @ Riverbend Music Center
Oct. 03 - Glasgow, UK @ SECC Arena
Oct. 05 - Newcastle, UK @ Newcastle Metro Arena
Oct. 16 - Rotterdam, Netherlands @ Ahoy' Rotterdam
Oct. 17 - Rotterdam, Netherlands @ Ahoy' Rotterdam

My post is blank?
Okay..what I typed.

I grew up in the early 1980's with those great Isles teams. Mike Bossy was my fave. Now I'm more into the goalies. (used to be a goalie)

What's it about Rush and Hockey that go so well together? (apart from the Canada thingy)
#13 - Posted 3/12/07 @1:46PM by Brian [contact]

Just listened to it again, and I'm not sure that i won't be bummed to hear Geddy's voice on one less track. He's hittin some notes and I think he sounds great. 2 instrumentals might be enough for me, although I guess that i really don't see me complaining...AT ALL.

#14 - Posted 3/12/07 @1:48PM by Mark Wallace [contact]

Based on previous tours, I would expect to see Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater on June 20th. VB has followed Charlotte for a while now.
#15 - Posted 3/12/07 @1:53PM by Geddlee [contact]

So stoked; wonder if they open the new tour with 'Far Cry'? Damn, I am losing it, so excited about this album and tour!
#16 - Posted 3/12/07 @2:27PM by Gwon [contact]

West coast please!!
#17 - Posted 3/12/07 @2:33PM by will [contact]

On R30 they hit 43 cities in North America, so they are adding 5 more cities for this tour. Can't Wait!
#18 - Posted 3/12/07 @2:48PM by DarkBeer [contact]

Blah, now Ticketmaster has pulled down the Cincinnati date and doesn't list any dates. Perhaps the rumor Ed referred to earlier that dates may not be announced until next week is true. Hope not, I can't keep spending my time at work hitting refresh looking for dates ;)
#19 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:13PM by Rushguy [contact]

Sorry, Cincy. I for one never give a darn about the dates. I guess the benefit in living in the NYC metro area, I know they are always coming close enough, plus I will go wherver opening night is so I don't sweat it. I also have the luxury of not having to plan time off too far in advance. As nutty a fan as i am, I could care less about where they are and when (just as long as they are touring!)
#20 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:14PM by will [contact]

A very reliable source has told me they are definitely playing the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Possibly the only indoor venue in North America???
#21 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:18PM by RicoRoq [contact]

Hey Dino64... has RUSH ever come to Austin?

I just moved here from SoCal so I never had to worry about where I was going to see them. But like you, I plan to go wherever they play. The moon included.
#22 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:19PM by will [contact]

Hey Rushguy,
If they play Montage mountain(Scranton, PA) definitely check them out there. Its about one third the size of the other venues on the tour. Lawn seats are like being under the pavillion at the other bigger venues.
#23 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:20PM by C. Felix [contact]

I miss living on Long Island b/c they would hit either, Jones Beach, MSG, The Coleisum...two hours to Philly...two hours to Hartford...

All that equals; many chances to see them!
#24 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:30PM by Rushguy [contact]

Nice Will! I will do that. i go to pnc, jones beach, hartford, any meadowlands or nyc shows and opening night at a minimum. 2nd night too if possible, like i did for r30. will try to go to vegas if a group of dear online friends goes again like they did for r30 but i couldnt make it. I will try to work PA shows into the mix this year if poss
#25 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:31PM by will [contact]

Has anyone checked if these dates in anyway mirror the R30 or VT dates. You could probably, from the dates already listed, get a pretty good feel for when they'll be in your area.
#26 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:33PM by mike [contact]

i live in central NJ - should be plenty of shows to see (Philly, PNC, NYCity, Jones Beach) but plan on travelling to as many shows as I can (including opening night)--anyone need a partner to buy really good seats with - shoot me an email! Heard Far Cry on 95.9 (jersey shore station this morning).

Mike
#27 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:34PM by will [contact]

The only drawback to montage mountain(scranton, PA) is the parking lot scene is lame. But once you're inside its great!
#28 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:42PM by RicoRoq [contact]

I hit a bunch of shows each of the last two tours, while travelling around the country visiting friends. I plan to do the same this time.

Kinda of a funny story... my neighbor has a 15 year old daughter who loves Justin Timberlake. I guess JT came through Houston and Dallas recently and she convinced her parents to taker her and some friends on a road trip to see both (we live in Austin). These girls were go geeked up about going it was funny to watch. They soap-painted dad's car and made huge banners professing their love for Justin. Her mom told me she got all dressed up in the faint hope that Justin might see her and fall in love, ala Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

So I was thinking, man, I can't believe someone could get all silly about Timberlake. Then I noticed how scuffed my F5 key is getting the last several days. So really, it's pretty much the same thing as those girls, just manifested differently. I have to confess I'm as geeked out as they are.

But hey, I ain't gettin' all dressed up for Geddy.
#29 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:50PM by Brian [contact]

I'm I gonna be the only one wearing heels at the show?
:(

As far as tour dates a friend of mine who's a dj turned me onto pollstar.com about 2 years ago, although they don't have any Rush dates up yet, I've often seen dates on that site before the artists website or ticketmaster. Just a heads up.
#31 - Posted 3/12/07 @3:54PM by jediyyz [contact]

Man, some of you are lucky indeed when it comes to proximity to shows...try living in New Mexico!!! We named R30 "drive till you die tour"(well, stolen actually from Rush)...but we'll be out there, that's for certain!!! Any news on definitive tour dates release day?
#32 - Posted 3/12/07 @4:03PM by Wayne in Wyoming [contact]

Heck , try living in Wyoming..... the last time the boys set foot here was in '83 for the Signals tour.
#33 - Posted 3/12/07 @4:13PM by Dino64 [contact]

Hey RicoRoq,

They last hit Austin on the RTB tour in February '92, so it's been a good while. Austin isn't really a big rock town (it's all Ray Benson and sad acoustic prats here), so I would wager that they will hit SA on this tour again and leave Austin out of the equation.

Anyway, I like setting aside an entire day for the gig at Verizon. It's a real event and by the time the guys come onstage, I'm just about foaming at the mouth.

This tour will be no exception!!
#34 - Posted 3/12/07 @4:27PM by keith [contact]

that jersey shore station was 95.9 the rat WRAT..played it twice, the first one at around 10am was for keith in pt pleasant.....thats me.thanks rockin robin for playing it trying to ask again to play it now cause i was at work and now i can hear it on a good stero.....
#35 - Posted 3/12/07 @4:28PM by Rushguy [contact]

wow wayne! thats a real shame. i know i am spoiled but then im stuck in the nyc metro area. wyoming sounds pretty darned appealing to me right about now. about to get on two subways trains then a bus during monday RUSH hour. haha at least its RUSH hour
#36 - Posted 3/12/07 @4:36PM by Colin [contact]

Glad for all you guys over the pond, hope they play near to you all, glad for our Dutch brothers as well, but what about dates in the UK? More specifically Scotland. R30 was glorious (took my daughter to her first Rush concert, Glasgow SECC, she loved it (of course!)We're hoping for more of the same this time around, pleeeeeeeaaaaase).
#37 - Posted 3/12/07 @4:49PM by Rushguy [contact]

i would gladly give up ONE of the 8 or so shows within 90 miles of my house the boys will do for you folks in the UK :) I will call management and let them know "skip jones beach, rushguy is cool, head to UK instead." :)
#38 - Posted 3/12/07 @5:19PM by GaryM [contact]

Ticketmaster took the Cincy date off the Rush web site. WTF???
#39 - Posted 3/12/07 @5:28PM by Rushguy [contact]

they prob just jumped the gun no need to panic yet
#40 - Posted 3/12/07 @5:36PM by mike [contact]

Keith - thanks for calling "The Rat" to request Far Cry! Glad I was able to catch it around 10 am this morn...
#41 - Posted 3/12/07 @5:50PM by keith [contact]

hey mike...no prob.i call robin every once in a while to play some Rush, since they usually play the standards Tom Sawer,Limelght Etc, but i ask her to play Red Barchetta and she usually does for me......what turned me on to that station was when they first came out they played Lakeside Park and i couldnt believe it.....theres another radio station 105.7 the hawk that plays the older stuff too.they actually did a a to z thing recently of their catollog that included all of 2112,the twillite zone, vital signs and others and on a sunday for an hour they had a special that they played Tears.when was the last time you heard that on a radio........anyway this is a great site.thanks ed........

#46 - Posted 3/12/07 @6:28PM by Steve [contact]

For some reason I can't stream the song anymore. Anyone else having this problem? There are no controls on the page on my laptop, but at work earlier I could listen to it just fine.
#47 - Posted 3/12/07 @6:43PM by Kurt [contact]

Also....despite the fact that the song sounded totally different on the radio...like seriously a different song, a part of the song I had never heard before...the DJ said the release date was May 8...
#48 - Posted 3/12/07 @6:59PM by Rushguy [contact]

Hey Collin, thanks for the kind words! Cheers right back at ya!
#49 - Posted 3/12/07 @7:06PM by Vic [contact]

Yeah Will, i went to the R30 Montage show in PA. Just walked up with a buddy and got 24th row!! It was like 95% packed. And it was a great friggin show!! Alex's rant was hilarious. Neil didn't seem too enthused about that show in Roadshow, but they rocked my ass off. Saw them at Blossom in OH and in Camden NJ at the Tweeter that tour as well. I loved that tour. I'm hoping Montage again this year and I can pull another trifecta! (Didn't hit MSG for fundage reasons- reasons that haven't made sense since.)

Interesting about this mysterious alternate version of Far Cry being talked about. And we still don't know what the cover art is for sure. Sure makes for quite a build up.. and it continues on..
#50 - Posted 3/12/07 @7:16PM by Shane [contact]

Yeah I find that strange when I went to Ticketmaster and found that Ciny was confirmed. Then later on as the day drags on. I went back to see more dates and the Cincy dates was not there anymore. I hear that will anounce the dates next week I guess. I have been waiting to see the dates all weekend long. Oh well will wait til next Monday. I am from SoCal South Orange County near Irvine Verizon Wireless Amp. Awesome website dude.

#51 - Posted 3/12/07 @7:35PM by Scott_In_Tampa [contact]

I also at them at Cinci on VT. It was the first time I had seen them perform outdoors. They played R30 in Tampa Bay the same month I moved down here and I didn't have a car then. With all of my health problems, I don't know if I can make to around an amphitheater this time.

BTW, malignant narcissism is the prime mover for Internet Trolls.
#52 - Posted 3/12/07 @7:37PM by mike [contact]

thanks Keith-
will have to check out 105.7 - Tears, huh! Not sure I have heard that one on the airwaves, like ever!!
and thanks to Ed as well - this site is awesome! Great updates on Rush goings on the last few weeks/months!
#53 - Posted 3/12/07 @7:57PM by Jon [contact]

Sweet...us in Evansville, IN (well, at least me) aren't expecting them to swing thru here (haven't been here since '83 Signals tour..) but I can DO Cinci! If they're watching us here lissen up: we've got a nice 6-7 thousand outdoor venue here in Evansville that would be perfect!!

Although St. Louis would be better. Or Indy. I kept refreshing all day waiting for datessss and saw the Ticketmaster tease...what do you all think? Is the Cincy date for real? Anyone know if there is a chance of getting I'll be doggone I'm gonna try to get the best tix possible.

Good luck to you all!
#54 - Posted 3/12/07 @7:58PM by Jon [contact]

Sorry...some of my earlier text got lost: Any chance of getting tix earlier?
#55 - Posted 3/12/07 @8:23PM by jediyyz [contact]

Hey everybody...just heard Far Cry on the radio here in Albuquerque...it was only 4min@30sec.?? What the heck!!!...I timed it about 5min14secs.on Rush.com...radio stations getting a cut version??? Anybody have some insight on this?
#56 - Posted 3/12/07 @10:22PM by Dino [contact]

Singles can be truncated to be more "radio friendly" sometimes Jed. No big one.
#57 - Posted 3/13/07 @10:01AM by Lerxst [contact]

The website is back on at 10:00 am on 3-13 with the full song.
#58 - Posted 3/13/07 @12:43PM by Jcrafty [contact]

I'm too stoked and need to plan a vacation around these dates...they need to announce them. I dont mean to be a downer to anyone in Europe but those October shows cannot be correct, if they're in Cincy on 9/1 they'll still have the western United States to get to. They prolly wont forget you guys but that date is way too optomistic.
#59 - Posted 3/13/07 @12:48PM by Jcrafty [contact]

Jon, about Indy...I have seen them 3 times over there (Verizon Wireless in '04). I'm from Columbus. They usually do Pittsburgh to C-bus to Indy and then up to Chicago and Milwaukee. Cleveland, Cincy and Detroit usually fit in some time around those dates.
#60 - Posted 3/13/07 @1:06PM by Brian [contact]

C'mon Chicago!!!

#61 - Posted 3/13/07 @1:25PM by DazeC [contact]

Rush play'd Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the first time on their 30th Anniversary Tour in 2004...Red Rocks is right outside of Denver, Colorado...I sure hope if they decide to play Denver that instead of playing at the outdoor amphitheatre in Englewood (a suburb of Denver) call'd Fiddler's Green...oh, wait...guess that's Coor's Amphitheatre in our corporate-ly correct world...that they again decide to bring the show to Red Rocks...much mas organic of a venue then the commercial-ly Fiddlers...in my humble opinion...and Rush if yer' readin' in...not the Pepsi can either, please!!...DC
#62 - Posted 3/13/07 @1:40PM by Brian [contact]

Speaking as someone who has seen Rush at both Fiddler's Green, and Red Rocks, I can say that Red Rocks definately had a cooler vibe. Here's the but. A friend of mine who is a professional photographer(specifically for musicians), and also has extremely close ties with promoters in the area(I've seen the pictures of him playing Ged's keyboard on the VT tour at Fiddler's Green-he's that close), informed me that they had issues getting their entire show up there. The place where you park the trucks was too small to fit everything-whatever that means. All i know is that when I watch R30-Frankfurt, I feel like i see a difference in the light show(not a big one mind you). Also, I do know that Big Al was having monitor issues as well, not sure why though.

#63 - Posted 3/13/07 @9:28PM by C.Felix [contact]

As of 9:30 on Tuesday...nothing on Dicketmaster.
#64 - Posted 3/13/07 @9:47PM by Jon [contact]

JDCrafty...sounds like Verizon Wireless could be a shoe-in for this summer, then? How was the turnout when you saw them all three times?

I've never seen a show up there...looks like '07 will be the last for Verizon WL!! Heard it was a traffic nightmare. Few co-workers from Indy said backroads are the best to get there instead of inter-state (if you know about this I may be hollering at you later!)

Does anyone know if March 24th is STILL the date for tix to go on sale???? And what particular time (since the majority of us changed our clocks...Eastern Time? Central?)?? Was planning on hanging out at the Dicketmaster (good one, C.Felix!) outlet before it opens or should I phone/go online?????? My first Rush show and doggone it, I'm shootin' for the good seats!

Thanks for any info, folks...
#65 - Posted 3/14/07 @8:35AM by Bo [contact]

Looking for that Gorge show! Would be great to see them out here.
#66 - Posted 3/14/07 @10:11AM by Jcrafty [contact]

Jon, I really didnt have any problems getting into that pavillion. I went early as I do to all Rush concerts. As far as Ticket Bastard goes, I have found that their system is worthless. Even with presales you generally get mediocre seats. I go to the ticket booth around noon the day of the show and they usually release extra tickets that didnt get used by promoters, radio stations etc. That show in particular I got 15th row for face value. This is not sure fire but I also take some extra cash in case it falls through and buy from a scalper if needed. Its a bit pricey sometimes but Rush shows are way too good to watch from bad seats or the lawn.
