This is what I lament about the Internet at times.

There is no mystery or discovery to anything anymore. :(

A part of me is glad to know what the bonus features are - however I wish I could just find out when I get the DVD.

Worth getting it for the Rutsey footage! I don't care for the bits from R30 and Snakes & Arrows wsince I have those on Blu-ray already.

Yahoo!! was getting worried it was only going to be a US/Canada thing. Rush the best band in the who wide world (to me anyway) getting the rockumentary treatment Wunderbar!!!

Great to hear there will be a release overseas!!! Waiting for the Blu-Ray in July......

I was at the Hartford in 2002. Geddy said they were dedicating "Between Sun and Moon" to John Entwhistle who had just died.

Seeing John Rutsey play should be amazing...

Can any one who's already seen the doc tell me if Jimmy Johnson is interviewed??
#8 - Posted 5/17/10 @4:35PM by patrush

Great to hear about the bonus footage, esp. w John Rutsey. Don't think I've seen any video of him playing.

"between the sun & moon""?! bloody hell that stuff irritates me

This looks GREAT! I suspect a lot of those first tracks are simply left over interview footage that they could not squeeze into the movie. But they should be informative nonetheless. And the early live stuff should be cool too.

I do wish the marketing people would not use such terminology as "rare live version" for something that was just released last year and is easily available (sure, most people don't have Bluray, but it might be something of a leap to say that it is therefore "rare.").

OK - I am reading this correctly - that only the Blu Ray has the Bonsus DVD?
If so that sucks. Since the people who bought the VIP packages were not given the opportunity to select the Blu Ray DVD.

off-topic:
Countdown by Kate Murphy. We can't all be Neil Peart, but she's not bad at doing a journalistic version of the song...

Rutsey on drums will be cool, but I hope they have other "live" footage from the 70's other then Pink Pop... that's been viral for a while now.
Everything else on the bonus disc looks like footage that's been shown over and over again...
They're just re-treading the bonus disc from other live releases...
disappointing.
#17 - Posted 5/17/10 @6:53PM by skl183

Bonus DVD: only thing on this seems to be "rare" is the Between Sun & moon performance, Rutsey tracks and the dinner at Hunting Lodge.

I want dinner for my VIP package..j/kidding! :)

Off topic. But fellow rocker Ronnie James Dio passed away yesterday.

On topic: I can't wait for the new Rush material and concert.
#19 - Posted 5/17/10 @7:19PM by Redcygnus [contact]

The song I would love to a see a video from the Pink Pop Festival would be Something For Nothing. That performance was the last time it has been performed live. The Hemispheres tour version of the song is far superior to the album and the other two live versions released by the band.

Sorry to here that Ronnie James Dio passed away. I saw him at Pine Knob outside Detroit in the summer of 1984. A great concert.
#20 - Posted 5/17/10 @7:49PM by kevin [contact]

#16 Agreed. La Villa from PINK POP has been out for atleast 2 years. I know I've seen a dozen times. At the end of the video you here the intro to 2112, I want to know who has the rest of that tape?
#21 - Posted 5/17/10 @9:51PM by Rob

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the T4E tour filmed but never released?

Isn't it surprising that ANY of that footage has seen the light of day yet?
#22 - Posted 5/17/10 @10:35PM by hergest [contact]

I can't wait for this DVD...it looks great! I love the vintage 1970s footage (my era of Rush discovery!)
#23 - Posted 5/17/10 @10:43PM by random_sample [contact]

#1 - I feel the same. I havent seen the documentary yet and I don't get VH1 ,so I will be seeing it when it comes out on DVD.

One thing I noticed in the list of features on the DVD was the 'Best I can', featuring John Rutsey on drums. Am I misunderstanding that? Wasn't the song Best I can written and recorded POST John Rutsey ,with Neil (for Fly By Night)?

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the T4E tour filmed but never released?

First, it's not surprising because the audio recording was screwed up which means they'll have to sync up audio from another show or shows to ever release it.

Secondly, some of it HAS shown up, the 1998 video for Closer to the Heart from Different Stages has video from that show. Of course, the audio is the live album version from Chicago, not Toronto.

I don't know about that either. Either they were playing Best I Can before Neil joined which I didn't know or else it's actually the Don Kirschner performance of Best I Can with Neil that was left off of R30 for some reason.
#25 - Posted 5/18/10 @1:13AM by RushFanForever [contact]

# 24 - snowdog2113 - I believe that 'Best I Can' was written during sessions for the first Rush album, but never used. The band then recorded the song for the 'Fly By Night' album when Neil joined.
#26 - Posted 5/18/10 @1:14AM by YaddaYadda2 [contact]

Nobody caught "Best I Can" with..."John Rutsey" yet?
#27 - Posted 5/18/10 @1:15AM by YaddaYadda2 [contact]

HAHAHA...wow, great minds think (and respond) alike!
#28 - Posted 5/18/10 @2:24AM by rtrushfan [contact]

This is a RUSH DVD. So I'm assuming there will be at least one Easter Egg (hopefully more)
#29 - Posted 5/18/10 @3:11AM by Fish Eyelands [contact]

I am looking forward to all the Rutsey stuff rarities, and outtakes from the interviews. But what's up with all the recycled stuff from The S&A and R30 Blu-Rays? Could'nt they have included some other rarities - the Passaic gig, other songs from Pink Pop (Something For Nothing as someone suggested), more stuff from the Hartford gig, or videos that haven't been released on DVD/Blu-Ray yet, i.e. Countdown, The Body Electric, Lock And Key (A Show Of Hands), or Closer To the Heart (DS live version)? I think it's a waste of space to include the stuff that they have JUST released.
#30 - Posted 5/18/10 @7:06AM by PetieLee [contact]

Hope if there are Easter Eggs on this DVD that some of them involve the color BLUE. ;P

Love da Geddy! Miss da Geddy! Gonna see da Geddy real soon!!! ♥
#31 - Posted 5/18/10 @8:16AM by kevin [contact]

Best I can was indeed being preformed prior to Neil, there is an interview somewhere with Alex talking about recording Fly By Night and he address's that song already being written prior to the Recording sessions. According to WIKIPEDIA
the song credits Geddy Lee only, unlike the other tunes
that include all three members.
#32 - Posted 5/18/10 @8:21AM by kevin [contact]

FYI I believe the same is true of "In the End"

That fits more of a Rutsey musical style and Geddy also wrote those lyrics..
#33 - Posted 5/18/10 @10:45AM by How f---ing cool is Geddy Lee. [contact]

#32 - kevin

I cannot find this documented anywhere just now, but I recall *knowing* that "In the End" was written by Lifeson.

Anyone else know if that's true?

#21, after seeing the cameras, I assumed a concert DVD would be released for the longest time. It would have been nice, with 2112 being played in it's entirety.
#35 - Posted 5/19/10 @2:56AM by xanadurush [contact]

Can not wait! Have been blinging my old rush shirts into new and improved halters with lots of bling. Can't wait can't wait!!! :) Thanks ED!!!

I just bought my ticket to see the doc this Monday 7 at Pathe Buitenhof cinema in Den Haag :)
#37 - Posted 5/20/10 @5:22AM by jp [contact]

Wow, the Rush Doc is shown in the Finnish Finnkino theatres on 7th June. Just one show and then it's gone. The tickets go on sale 21st May so tomorrow.
Now it's just a matter of figuring out the travel arrangements, the nearest theatre is about 100 miles away from me.

I never would've guessed the Rush Doc would be shown here, let alone in all (or most, at least) of the Finnkino theatres all across the country. A nice surprise indeed.

Sweet! I had the great fortune of being at that Hartford show with my wife. That was her first Rush concert. I'm psyched that this will be on the DVD. That was an awesome day and we caught them later that tour at Delta Center in SLC 3rd row Geddy's side.
