"Rush Fan Forever"
You are so on-the-ball on everything Rush!
Ed needs to get you on the RIAB payroll!

This should be a slam-dunk eh?

If I could wave my magic wand...I'd have tour dates!
#3 - Posted 3/3/10 @12:28PM by RUSHGIRL [contact]

Cool!! Glad to see another Juno nomination!
NOW, I'd like to see some official tour dates PLEASSSE!!!!!!!! :)

i hope rush wins like you would not believe. scared of iron maiden's flight 666 though, in which i heard is excellent

Same, RUSHGIRL, same ;)

WICKED!!! Great news! :D

"Iron Maiden Flight 666" could be a big threat but we'll see. It would be very sweet if S&A won!

And I echo RUSHGIRL and Kelly D's sentiments... tour dates, please and thank you!

PEACE and inflatable beavers...
#8 - Posted 3/3/10 @1:04PM by ghostcolon [contact]

Cool! But Maiden's Flight 666 was awesome. It's more than just a concert, which could make it the winner, but I'm hoping for Rush!
#9 - Posted 3/3/10 @1:05PM by Hemisfears [contact]

As much as I love Rush and that S&A dvd, my money is on Iron Maiden Flight 666. That dvd is absolutly phenominal.
#10 - Posted 3/3/10 @2:02PM by main monkey business [contact]

Speaking of which...looks like a North American tour is being announced tomorrow from Maiden. Let's see if that puts a little fuel on Rush to get some tourdates out here...man I hope so!
#11 - Posted 3/3/10 @2:37PM by katskahnne [contact]

Flight 666 was very good, and I agree, that's the toughest competition. On the bright side, the quality of F666 makes me look forward to the Rush doc all the more. That said, there's always that outside chance our guys could get this one...the extras alone deserve it, LOL!

TOUR DATES!!!!!!!
#12 - Posted 3/3/10 @2:39PM by Hemisfears [contact]

I dont think Rush is persuaded to get their tour dates out quicker just because Iron Maiden announces theirs.
I would think that 1/3 of the fans of both bands will actually see both tours this year. Tickets are expensive and times are tough for many. It might turn out to be choosing one or the other for most.

For me, it's Rush. If I can figure out a way to see Iron Maiden, I'll go. I havent seen them since 1991 and later in 1998, but that was with that replacement "singer" and it was terrible. Bruce is back and singing better than ever and it would be nice to see them before they decide to hang it up, but Rush is the #1 concert priority for me this year, or whenever they tour.
#13 - Posted 3/3/10 @3:29PM by main monkey business [contact]

Actually Hemi...I was just being a little sarcastic...getting really jumpy waiting on Rush dates. I am going to see Maiden though as well..As for crowds..I understand what you're saying..but I think the crowds will be larger for this Rush tour than the last...only because I've noticed an awful lot of young fans after the last tour. With Rush being on Rock Band, and the Colbert Report...along with a fantastic album..Snakes and Arrows..it seems as though there are a lot of young new fans eager to try and get tickets for this tour..I may be "out in left field"...but it's my humble opinion. Also I wonder if people are starting to wonder just how many more tours are they gonna do...put all this together..and I think tickets will fly a little quicker than the last tour.
#14 - Posted 3/3/10 @4:23PM by jmreidfo [contact]

I think Geddy will have inflatable beavers onstage this time instead of the chicken roasters or clothes dryers...
#15 - Posted 3/3/10 @4:26PM by jmreidfo [contact]

I didn't know 'Maiden was going on tour also?

Nah, Rush will do fine whether 'Maiden is touring or not...

Am getting jumpy for Rush dates though!!!!!!!!!!
#16 - Posted 3/3/10 @5:39PM by Hemisfears [contact]

#13
I know, no problem. It's all good.
Rush would actually help themselves by releasing the dates ASAP so the fans can start making plans. Some fans might be waiting for the Rush dates and then buy some Maiden tickets and then be short on funds for Rush and then have to scale back their plans when all that had to be done is just release the dates. I just wish the band or their management would give us some ample time for planning.
That's all.

GIVE US THE DATES ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#17 - Posted 3/3/10 @7:18PM by The_king_will_Neil [contact]

I'll start a new rumor:

Maiden is going to announce their dates, and that they're touring with Rush - not co-headlining, but alternating nights. You see Maiden one night, then go to the same place and see Rush the next.

That'll make our scheduling easier, and give them and easier schedule. But who'll be Neil's road buddy?
#18 - Posted 3/3/10 @7:52PM by rushdude [contact]

Ed wheres the tour dates?????????????????
#19 - Posted 3/3/10 @8:19PM by RushonBlu-Ray [contact]

This is just too wierd. No mention of anything on Rush.com not even a clue of new material, no word of anything from there management. I wonder if Neil had a change of heart about touring and wants to be with the baby and wife or if they werent happy with the new songs or song and they are still working on them. You would think that Rush.com would atleast let us know that tour dates are being finalized like they did before the Snakes and Arrows tours. Something is going on
#20 - Posted 3/3/10 @9:15PM by skl183

DVD came out in Fall 2008, took'em long enough!
#21 - Posted 3/3/10 @9:25PM by Bulldog81 [contact]

Will go see Rush if they play in Houston or New Orleans,
but would be an early Christmas for me if they would
play in Lafayette, La, midway betweeen Houston and N.O.
#22 - Posted 3/3/10 @10:07PM by jmreidfo [contact]

I think by the end of this weekend we'll know...

Found this at Macleans.ca site

Whacking the hornet's nest:

"If you suffered through the entire opening miasma, you might have noticed that the thematic journey across Canada from Nova Scotia to B.C. skipped right over Ontario, missing, er, the majority of the population. Turns out there actually was a Toronto-centric section planned, featuring local boys done good Rush playing their instrumental "YYZ"--but the entire segment was scrubbed at the last minute. Apparently the sensitivity barons of the Vancouver committee decided that the whole thing was "too rock" in light of the accidental fatality on the Luge track earlier that day, and ordered Messers. Lee, Lifeson and Peart to "exit... stage left."
#25 - Posted 3/3/10 @11:24PM by ghost__rider [contact]

Oh, the irony! Geddy with the Lee's.........
#26 - Posted 3/3/10 @11:26PM by Hemisfears [contact]

#24
Sounds plausable to me.
I watched that opening with my buddies while we just cracked open a pizza. Needless to say we were all sickened and pissed off at what we saw and NBC sucks for showing that so many times. Kind of ruined the whole night for us actually. Seeing Rush wouldn't have made us feel any better about it either.
#27 - Posted 3/3/10 @11:52PM by PetieLee [contact]

We want official tour dates, we want official tour dates, we want official tour dates!

Toss me a pellet, eh?!!!

P.S. Geddy's hot!

link

Love da Geddy! Miss da Geddy - but not for very long!!!
#28 - Posted 3/4/10 @1:29AM by tygr [contact]

#21 - Rush in Lafayette? Not happening! LOL But if they play N.O. and Houston again you should be able to go to both shows. (o;} I saw them in N'awlins on the S&A tour and that was an awesome show. Some chic near the front threw her bra at Lerxst. I was 6th row right in front of Alex's mic stand. Niiiiiiiice, even with Ged not getting his keyboard punched in on the first Subdivisions solo!!!!! hehehe
#29 - Posted 3/4/10 @2:03AM by TMMB [contact]

#27...I'd be happy with "unofficial" tour dates...:)

C'mon...throw this dog a bone. I need to start booking rooms.
#30 - Posted 3/4/10 @2:16AM by main monkey business [contact]

jmreidfo...yeah..Maiden tourdates come out today at 3:00 PM Eastern time according to their website...
The_king_will_Neil...not a rumor on the Maiden front...it's right there on thier website as I posted to jmreidfo...I just wish Rush would do the same and get the tourdates out there..so people could plan and get vacation days if needed...like me!
#31 - Posted 3/4/10 @2:20AM by rushdude [contact]

Ed..we the rush fans love your site and your are doing an excellent job! But we are just curious is your contact giving you the tour information the same contact who told you Rush was playing the olympics?

Im just curious..I take that back WE the fans are curious because every act from sting, paul mccartney, and now Iron Maiden have set their intentions to tour, but as of now still no word from our boys!!

I checked the offical site and its same as usual not even a hint of anything coming.

Let the fans know Ed..Thanks.
#32 - Posted 3/4/10 @9:44AM by josh7598 [contact]

Ditto #31. This is starting to stink.
#33 - Posted 3/4/10 @11:11AM by TMMB [contact]

It's one thing to want tour dates...but to somehow blame Ed for not having that information is over the top. This guy busts his butt to give us the latest Rush news and to suggest he is somehow holding back on information is not cool.
Or to suggest, because of the Olympics mess, all his information is not accurate shows no loyalty or appreciation. He is dead on 99.9% of the time.
#34 - Posted 3/4/10 @11:32AM by broughttoyoubytheletterj [contact]

Quit asking Ed to do more than he is capable...
We're all anxious to hear tour dates
He already takes enough of his own time to keep us informed/entertained.
#35 - Posted 3/4/10 @12:07PM by random_sample [contact]

I wasnt able to find anything like that on the Macleans magazine site. Why wouldnt you post a link to it?
#36 - Posted 3/4/10 @12:19PM by RushFanForever [contact]

# 35 random_sample - the Macleans website does not keep all of their articles up for long. There are some features that remain but other's not.
#37 - Posted 3/4/10 @12:51PM by Wall05 [contact]

Just a heads up....

Iron Maiden is announcing a north american tour at 3:00 EST today. I figured someone here would care.
#38 - Posted 3/4/10 @1:33PM by Distant Echoes [contact]

I'm sure as soon as any tour dates come out we who check RIAB will be among the first to know! Most information as of now is pure speculation based on some comments made by the members of Rush themselves.Nothing, however, has been set in stone as for the certainty of a tour. I do agree that it will be helpful for us fans to plan our summers around Rush shows we can attend and afford as soon as possible.

Snakes&Arrows should win the Juno...it's fantastic!
#39 - Posted 3/4/10 @2:11PM by random_sample [contact]

#36-
Well that's weird...how convenient, too. Another piece of "information" about Rush playing at the opening or closing ceremonies that can't be proven or backed up with anything tangible. I won't believe a thing until I see something from a credible source (no, that's not a slam on "Ed". He did use the word "rumor" when he reported about this subject on here)
I am hoping eventually to see something either on Neil's website or Rush's official website, to clear this whole olympics thing up.
#40 - Posted 3/4/10 @3:09PM by subdivincent [contact]

maiden's coming to Cleveland.

#42 - Posted 3/4/10 @3:46PM by chip14220 [contact]

Congratulations Rush!!! Snakes&Arrows was a awesome DVD. I really hope Rush releases some tour dates soon. Keep up the good work everyone who works for this site.
Oh and 1st time post.
#43 - Posted 3/4/10 @3:58PM by waltzoftheshreves [contact]

Thanks for the heads up RushFanForever, I will update my RUSH juno history page to add R30 and yesterday's nomination...
#44 - Posted 3/4/10 @4:09PM by Distant Echoes [contact]

The Iron Maiden/Dream Theater gig will directly compete with the possible Rush tour. In this economy some people will have to choose how to spend their entertainment dollars(no choice for me, Rush is top priority)...too bad Iron Maiden released their dates first!
#45 - Posted 3/4/10 @4:13PM by rushfanben [contact]

MP of DT said that Maiden is one of three bands they woul like to open for. So, if one of the other two is RUSH wouldn't that be something. Imagine DT playing RUSH-tunes and our boys getting a go at some DT music. Or maybe some crazy jam in between...LOL
#46 - Posted 3/4/10 @4:21PM by Rusty Shackleford

I know there are Rush/Iron Maiden fans on this site...but I don't think Maiden's tour would have any effect on a Rush tour in terms of ticket sales.

That's *IF* there is a Rush tour.
#47 - Posted 3/4/10 @4:35PM by Distant Echoes [contact]

#46 Agreed for hardcore fans, but may not be true for casual fans...the younger generation only has a certain amount of cash to spend.
#48 - Posted 3/4/10 @5:03PM by RushonBlu-Ray [contact]

Didnt we have about 30 or 40 unofficial tour dates like a month before they announced the dates for S&A?? Just another reason to be concerened and to wonder what is really going on.
#49 - Posted 3/4/10 @5:44PM by main monkey business [contact]

Maiden in Cleveland and Detroit?? Detroit...here I come! As for Rush..not sure what is going on..but please..Ed can only post what he hears. This guy busts his ass for us to get us info as he hears it...the lack of info on a Rush tour has nothing to do with Ed...If they tour...they'll tell us.
#50 - Posted 3/4/10 @5:45PM by main monkey business [contact]

As for Maiden or Rush..Rush tops all...but I'm going to both! Multiple Rush shows naturally!
#51 - Posted 3/4/10 @5:45PM by Hemisfears [contact]

GOOD!
Now I have an even better chance of getting good seats for the Rush tour.
Brilliant strategy from the Rush management team!!

I'd love to see Iron Maiden. But NOT with DT.
Last time, and only time, that I saw DT, it was a big guitar and drum wankfest.
#52 - Posted 3/4/10 @5:59PM by AngularMass [contact]

Even though all things seemed to point to a Rush tour this summer/year, it looks like there's a chance that there won't be any sort of tour until next year...its possible they could have decided to forfeit a 2010 tour so they could do a proper album (or for some other reason).

If dates come awesome but I'm not holding my breath for something that could potentially be a full year or more away.
#53 - Posted 3/4/10 @6:12PM by TheHonestMan [contact]

At this point in time for last tour we already had an announcement of a tour, many speculated dates (which turned out to be true), and a proposed set list from people at the band's rehearsals. As much as I want there to be a tour, it looks like there is still a good possibility that RUSH decided to just postpone everything a year. There hasn't even been an official announcement for new music! I'm sure they had every intention to tour (hell, Geddy even said so himself), but sometimes things just come up. Maybe Neil decided to stay home with his daughter, maybe they decided to wait until the economy has fully recovered...who knows?!? I still think they will tour, but now I'm not as confident as I was.

As soon as Ed gets any info, he'll share it with us!
#54 - Posted 3/4/10 @6:21PM by rocinante5m [contact]

just read most of the comments on this thread and the past few.....I am amazed at the theories, suggestions, demands and attitudes of some people on the site.........

I'm proud to be a Rush fan, I just hope that The Boys know how distinguish the spoiled fanatics from those who just appreciate what they do, no matter what they do, and whenever they want to do it......embarrassing
#55 - Posted 3/4/10 @6:32PM by random_sample [contact]

#54-
You took the words right out of my mouth! I couldn't agree with you more.
Here's how it is. If and when Rush are REALLY going to be touring, they will announce it. You will see something OFFICIAL somewhere. Not a rumor, but something OFFICIAL. Same with new material. So far, it's comments from Neil about possibilites for what they would be doing next, no official announcement, really. I can't believe how demanding some Rush fans are...and presumptuous, too. Geez. At this point..I am happy with whatever they do and thankful for all they have done.
#56 - Posted 3/4/10 @8:08PM by main monkey business [contact]

I agree with what is being said overall..like I said..If they decide to tour..they'll tell us. However...be honest..we were all excited when we heard that it looked like there was going to be a tour...it would possibly be the 30th Anniversary Tour of Permanent Waves, and they'd be playing the album in its entirety...heck...I was excited myself..At the same time I don't sit by counting the seconds until the dates come out as well.. I understand people being excited...but getting upset over no tour announcement is a bit much. I just think Rush will surprise us when we least expect it...they always do. I'm going to see Maiden...that will keep me happy until Rush decides to tour..and Porcupine Tree in Cincinnati..so all is not a total loss!
#57 - Posted 3/4/10 @8:09PM by Hemisfears [contact]

Here's my .02.
I think this will be the last Rush album and tour.
Therefore, I think they want to do a full album and then do a ton of promotion and then do a MAJOR World tour to finish off the band's career. I think the album will be out later this year and the tour will start in 2011 and finish finally in 2012.
And that will be it.

I hope I'm wrong.

(I usually am)
#58 - Posted 3/4/10 @8:27PM by Rusty Shackleford

Dream Theater has been a band for 25 years and is still an opening act.

I cannot decide if that's funny or pathetic.
#59 - Posted 3/4/10 @8:40PM by Hemisfears [contact]

It's so pathetic, it's funny.
#60 - Posted 3/4/10 @8:43PM by Bulldog81 [contact]

#28....If Tanna Mon-hanna and Taylor not-too-Swift can play in Lafayette, La....WHY NOT RUSH?? Maybe in the Red
Stick City? (Baton Rouge). Just a shorter distance for
me to drive, and to say that Rush played in Lafayette
or Baton Rouge.
#61 - Posted 3/4/10 @9:21PM by tygr [contact]

Hey, if Rush plays in Lafayette I'm there, but I doubt we'll see them play anywhere in Louisiana again except New Orleans. I remember when they played in other venues in the state. I saw them play at the Centroplex in Red Stick (my home town) on the Moving Pictures tour. Caught the Hold Your Fire tour in Shreveport. Heck, they even played in Monroe once.
#62 - Posted 3/4/10 @9:35PM by jmreidfo [contact]

I'm just checking rush.com and the tour dates before I believe anything is 'official.' Does seem odd that things are taking a little while.

On the other hand, I honestly do not think Maiden touring will disuade Rush from touring. I've seen Maiden a few times as well as Rush and the audiences were quite different (just my opinion). Maiden and Rush share a hell of alot of fans but that shouldn't be a distraction for our boys...

I got excited for tour dates as well but no - can't rag on Ed or the boys for the holdup. It'll happen if it's gonna happen...(cross those fingers!!!!!)

Who else is touring this summer, just out of curiosity (except for Rush, I'm totally out of the loop for anything else otherwise...)?????
#63 - Posted 3/4/10 @9:40PM by holeinone53575

The further we get into March the less likely there will be a tour. I hate to be a spoiler fellow Rush fans. It is looking like this is another big fat false rumour. The window for getting dates out for June shows is closing fast. Come on boys.
#64 - Posted 3/4/10 @9:48PM by JohnnyTRacer [contact]

I can feel the "Liquid Tension" rising here :-)

Go Tony go.....ROCK ON!!! Most importantly:

RUSH ON!
#65 - Posted 3/4/10 @10:17PM by The_king_will_Neil [contact]

I'd be willing to wager we would recognize whatever Macleans.ca's sources are. It's probably the same as we've been hearing about for two weeks (possibly including this site).

Hearing the same story/rumor again ('specially on the 'net) doesn't mean a whole lot. As we found out.

--Waiting, waiting, pass the time [for tour dates]
--The time is not here yet ...
--Why try, I know why
--This feeling inside me says [something's coming soon]
#66 - Posted 3/4/10 @10:23PM by lapirata2 [contact]

Speaking of Maiden, they are touring with special guest Dream Theater this summer but only at a handful of cities. That is a killer night of music though. I figured there are a lot of DT and Maiden fans here as well...
#67 - Posted 3/4/10 @10:53PM by Bulldog81 [contact]

tygr...I saw Rush in Lafayette in 1986 on their Power
Windows tour, and in New Orleans in 1992 on their Roll
the Bones tour. They played in Lake Charles on April 5,
1982....my 19th birthday...but my friend was not able
to buy me a ticket because they sold out in just one day.

Still would like to see them come to Lafayette or Baton Rouge.
#68 - Posted 3/4/10 @11:08PM by TMMB [contact]

#63

It's only the first week in March. If they are planning on launching the tour in late June; that's close to 4 months away!!!
As Ed has posted, they are still trying to finalize dates before releasing them. I'm fully optimistic we'll see a tour this summer.
I realize we had dates earlier last tour but this is a different scenario. They had an album finished and in place to promote.
My guess there is no album per say, but maybe a couple of songs to download. Plenty of time to release them to radio stations for airplay and promotion.
I'll start freaking out if we don't hear anything by the end of March or early April.
#69 - Posted 3/4/10 @11:32PM by Nettie [contact]

To all those ragging about tour dates not being announced yet:
I checked the Rush website. On March 12th, 2007, it said "Tour dates coming ssssoon!"

So, it is not too late to announce the tour, and the tour started earlier for Snakes and Arrows. We know this one will start later.

Chill out!

Also, Tom Petty is giving fans a free download of his new album for buying tickets to Summmerfest. What if Rush is going to do that too? They would have to have the music ready when the dates are announced. That would be really cool!
#70 - Posted 3/4/10 @11:32PM by Nettie [contact]

Oh, and Ed rules!
#71 - Posted 3/5/10 @12:22AM by tygr [contact]

Wow, Bulldog81, I had no idea they played Lafayette in '86! I saw that tour somewhere, but I can't remember where.

March 5th..........**tapping foot**
Still holding on...........
Patience is a virtue......... :) ;)
#73 - Posted 3/5/10 @9:45AM by Alexfan [contact]

Kind of unrelated, but wanted to mention it.

Last night I watched a movie called "The Story of Anvil". They are a heavy metal band out of Toronto. Worth a watch.
#74 - Posted 3/5/10 @10:24AM by Expagel [contact]

I'm sure Ed will have this up in his weekly wrap up later today, but just wanted to let people know that Neil Peart's version of "The Hockey Theme" for HNIC is going to be released for the Rock Band game this coming week. For those that have the game and like to drum, that should be a blast!

And yeah, there's a typo in the headline, I'm sure it was accidental.
