KISS's Peter Criss talks Rush on VH1 Classic's That Metal Show

Tue, Dec 1, 2009@9:46AM | comments removed/disabled

The season 3 finale of VH1 Classic's That Metal Show with Eddie Trunk aired this past Saturday. The guest was original KISS drummer and founding member Peter Criss. In the Throwdown segment Rush's YYZ was pitted against Led Zeppelin's Moby Dick to determine the best rock instrumental. The ensuing discussion caused Peter Criss to dig up some Rush memories:

Eddie Trunk: Kiss had some crazy years with Rush on the road, right?

Peter Criss: I consider them brothers. They were like brothers to me. More so than Gene and Ace and Paul. I hung with them personally. Like, after every night we would go out - true story ... and we were in Holiday Inns then, not Ritz Carltons or Four Seasons ... - and we would get on the balcony in a snowstorm, get all the blankets from everybody's room, cover ourselves with them like eskimos and share a bottle of Johnnie Walker red. We got along so great. We talked about our wives - how we missed them, and our kids and how we missed them, and our moms and dads. We got to be really good friends. I love those guys. Those guys could never do wrong in my book.

They ended up unanimously choosing Rush's YYZ as the winner. You can watch the entire episode at the VH1 Classic website here. The particular segment with Peter talking about Rush can be viewed below or at this link.

Geddy and Alex were guests on That Metal Show back in late 2008. This was also the second time that Rush has been the subject of the Throwdown segment; back in season 1 Rush fans were pitted against KISS fans.
