Countdown to Liquor Day featuring Alex Lifeson DVD release
Posted at 1:02PM | comments (13)

UPDATE - 12/1@1:30PM: Reader Will C let me know of a cheaper option for US customers who want to purchase this DVD. CDPlus.com is a Canadian CD/DVD seller that has FREE shipping for orders to the US and the DVD is listed at $29.99CAN shipped. Plus the site is having a 10% off special through December 6.

The second Trailer Park Boys movie - Countdown to Liquor Day - was released to theaters in Canada back in September and Alex Lifeson made a cameo appearance as a cop. This review of the film from the Edmonton Sun describes some details about Alex's role:

... Of course, there's the de rigueur appearance by Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson, here playing a drunken, undercover cop posing as a transvestite in a gay-prostitute alley (centred around a Chip Wagon that serves alcohol -- man, Halifax is one weird town). ...

The film will be released to DVD on December 22nd and is now available for pre-order. Lerxst also had a cameo as a cop in the first Trailer Park Boys movie and was heavily involved with the soundtrack for that film. Here's the trailer for Countdown to Liquor Day:

Thanks to RushFanForever for the heads up.

Let's make it a Rush chick trifecta. . .

The only Trailer Park Boys I've seen is the one, obviously, featuring Alex. Are the rest of them as funny as that "Closer to the Heart"?

. . . Woah. . . kindly disregard the first part of my post. . . heh.

re No3:
'closer to the heart' is a good episode (of course!) but one of many, series 4 just after that series is my favourite - totally insane.

I saw the first TPB movie - hysterical!!! I can't wait to see "Countdown to Liquor Day"...am I crazy for looking forward to seeing Alex in a dress? (No, I'm already crazy. I'm just looking forward to seeing Alex in a dress...;-D)

Happy U.S. Thanksgiving!!

I LOVE Trailer Park Boys. Most likely my favourite show ever. I consider it one of the greatest pieces of art, next to Rush of course :), that Canada has ever produced.

I'm curious about the use of the term "de rigueur" .... does that mean that Alex is now fashionable?

God, I'm kind of debating on seeing Al dressed like that. One side of me is saying, "C'mon! Just watch it when it comes out, for Christs sake!", while my other side is saying, "DO NOT WATCH IT! Trust me! It will scar you for life!" But I think I'm just gonna watch, move on, but never watch it again (at least that scene). :)

I'll be honest, mrdriven. . . I thought your avatar was GedHed's, and, not thinking, I decided to keep that impression in my head when I made the comment. My apologies! ;)

"De rigueur," I think, refers to Alex's numerous cameos, so it's only fitting for him to do another one. Like, it'd be out of place to not see Alex with the Boys.

Well, to clarify, and maybe it's just a female perspective or hell, just MY perspective for all I know...when we see a man dressed up like "one of us", I imagine I'm not alone in thinking "Uh-huh, walk across that raggedy sidewalk in three-inch stiletto heels. Go ahead. Work it, let's see how those ankles hold up. Oh, and is that you tugging at that cheap, not-exactly-Spanxx girdle? Uh-huh, whose big badonkadonk you gonna critique now? And of course the bra doesn't fit! What part of your chest did you *think* you were supposed to measure?! And tell me you didn't get your legs waxed, I'd have heard the screams from here to Tehachapi. Oh, by the way...You. Can. Not. Accessorize."

Not that I'd ever think any of that for one moment about our dear Alex, mind you, just sayin'...;-)
