RushCon 9 Michael Mosbach interview now online

Michael Mosbach is the head of Rush's security as well as Neil Peart's friend and riding partner, and was one of the guest speakers at RushCon 9 in Toronto this past summer. A video of portions of his 2-hour talk were recently posted to the RushCon website. They are also starting to plan for RushCon 10 and would like you to take their survey. It sounds like they want to shake things up a little for the Con's 10th anniversary. You can take the survey at this link. Here's the interview:

gave Michael/Neil a gift @ Red Rocks in 2007 and got a mention on Neil's site....saw Michael backstage in 2008 and his reaction was underwhelming...i know he has a job to do in terms of being security for the band but a smile don't cost nothing...

Hmm. I've heard varying reports on Michael's interactions with fans. . . can't say I've ever encountered anything myself except I THINK it was him who gave me my sticks in 2008. . . as I was having an out-of-body experience at that point in time it's hard to say if it was him or not.

Michael seems pretty cool. Not the first impression I had. Good to see him in a different light and not stereotyped.

Yeah, he is a tough guy at the shows because he has to be. That's his job. But in real life he is a very very sweet and generous guy. :)

Isn't he the one with "Praetorian" (sorry if its misspelled) on back of his shirt near the stage at concerts

Michael for some reason is a bit standoffish to fans. He should be more gratefull that Neil has taken him under his wing so to speak. I Think Neil should give him him a good talkin to. Be more humble Mike and count your blessings.

I think Michael is the bands alter ego as it pertains to dealing with fans, specifically pestering fans. I have heard the guy can be a little quick, dismissive and rude. I am not going to have an opinion on this as the band can hire and fire who they want for what ever reason.

As to this interview, i think it was real light on introspective Neil stories and way to heavy on swooning over leather pants. The guy is security, not a band member....jeesh.
