Posted at 8:44PM | comments (14)

The release date for Rush's upcoming Atlantic-era greatest hits package, Retrospective 3, has been pushed back from December 5th nearly 2 months to January 27th according to Amazon.com (thanks to Will C for the heads up). The album will come in both a CD and a CD/DVD version with the DVD containing the Atlantic-era music videos. The tracklist was revealed last week and will contain one unreleased live track (Ghost of a Chance from the 2008 leg of the S&A tour) along with 13 studio tracks. The DVD will contain 10 Atlantic-era music videos along with live videos of The Seeker, Secret Touch and Resist. Also of interest are 2 remixed/remastered versions of One Little Victory and Earthshine off of 2002's Vapor Trails. Here's the complete tracklist:

So much for the good christmas sales strategy. You just know there is a reason for this other than technical crap. These videos and songs are readily available to be put on a compilation years ago.

Daaaaaaaaaamn (I probably wouldn't have gotten it in January anyway :X)

Does anyone know of a DVD with the pre-Atlantic era videos besides the Chronocles DVD?

Oooo. Maybe they pushed it back so the boys can get a few new songs recorded in Alex's studio first.... Ha.

Anybody else hear the Howard Stern Wrap-up Show Thursday morning. A caller asked if they were ever going to have Rush on the show. He said he thought Howard would have fun with Neil. Host Jon Hein (a Rush superfan) pegged the caller as a big fan because the caller correctly pronounced Peart.

As much as we all love Neil, I think the pecking order for fun on the Howard Stern Show would be:

1) Al
2) Geddy
3) Neil

It's still a cool thought as his are the most interesting, revealing interviews. I think we'd find out stuff that none of us ever knew about our favorite band. I'm keeping hope alive. Speaking of keeping hope alive, anybody hang in there for the 7th, 8th and 9th innings last night?

GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Howdy all from Ireland! Don't post often but do check the site every day. Really odd how quiet it got round here now that the S&A tours are over. The Toronto gig in July was magic. Trying to get tix for AC/DC in Dublin in April 2009 but they've sold out in a flash. Anyways, Power Windows is in the cd player and I'm getting back to work.

Roll on R35.

Nobody loves Rush more than me but I am getting tired of every release getting delayed. It is almost as though they are testing our patience. I realize the band probably has little control over such things but they also could throw their weight around now and the. 9 will get you 10 that the S&A DVD also gets delayed.

On a positive note the delay now gives me something to look forward to in dreary January. Here's hoping that the S&A Live DVD does not get delayed because I'm counting down the days :D

Looking forward to watching the Buddy Rich Memorial tomorrow night on the Drum Channel :)

This sucks a lot, but at least it's not the S & A DVD being pushed back...that would be a lot worse!

doh

sigh

it's not a RUSH release if it ain't got delay.

Does anyone know if the live videos for Resist and Secret Touch are taken from R30 or Rush in Rio?

KellyD, another DVD with music videos is R30, which contains some old videos in the second disc: Fly by night, Farewell to kings, Xanadu, Circumstances and Villa Strangiato.
