And on the 29th- my mom's birthday. However, she's no Rush fan, so it'd be more of a birthday present to me...

I wonder if it has anything to do with Geddy Lee bein' Jewish? Just thought that Iwould throw that out there

Does anybody think that they could be hiding something from us... I for one smell a WORLD PREMIER!!! coming on!!!!

Maybe as a finale... 4 songs From S&A LIVE!!!
#12 - Posted 9/11/08 @6:32PM by idrum2 [contact]

Too bad for those few fans like myself who celebrate Rosh Hashanah and listen to Rush. (You can't watch TV on Rosh Hashanah according to Jewish law).

Oh well, I already have the DVDs. Sorry, but religion comes before Rush.
#13 - Posted 9/11/08 @7:41PM by PhillyMike [contact]

It's not called the High Holidays for nothing!

Too cool! A 24-hour rush of Rush! Yay! That only means more Geddy to savor!
link

Yay!

#11: rushisgreat - Wouldn't that be something if they showed the 4 "bonus" S&A Live songs? Woo Hoo!

Love da Geddy! Miss da Geddy!

First of all, Holy Crap. That is quite the tribute.
Mr. Soul...VH1 and VH1 classic are not the same. You must have a mega type of package with your cable/dish to get VH1 classic.

Rush is the greatest. Really.
#17 - Posted 9/11/08 @9:06PM by rocinante5m [contact]

Finally, some good news, YYYEEEEAAAHHH!!!!!

after getting bent over in court yesterday by the X and her evil attorney and all the lipstick, quakes and proton collisions this is great news.........being a jewish person myself i really appreciate the RUSH HASHANAH tribute......

Perhaps you're right Rushisgreat #11, that would be cool.....
Alex comes on the screen disguised as a rabbi sipping from a huge kiddush cup and says "this is for all of our Jewish friends, Happy New Year and we hope you enjoy these new live videos which will be on the new Rush DVD-LECHAIM!!!!".........how cool would that be....CHALLAH!!!
#18 - Posted 9/11/08 @9:25PM by I love Rush [contact]

#7...I'm sure it has lots to do with Geddy being Jewish.
I think it is so cool they're doing this!!!

#12...I am not Jewish....before I read what you wrote, I thought that exactly ("I thought Jewish people couldn't watch TV on Rosh Hashanah" what a shame that fans couldn't watch it!!)....but I agree idrum, religion before Rush.....

Lotsa Rush exposure lately.....oy, I think Rock and Roll hall of fame is next...good or bad (?)

yah, way off topic, but super gross eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww in that video, #19...at 2:03 is a faked photo of Bush in a thong.....GROOOOSSSS even though it's fake, just the thought makes me vomit
#22 - Posted 9/11/08 @11:56PM by scottw [contact]

What are they gonna do in December, Chaka Khanukkah?
#23 - Posted 9/12/08 @12:25AM by MiriyaB [contact]

OMG YES!!!!

So I wasn't the only one with the RUSH Hashanah pun on the brain! (Last year, when there was a show on that evening, I had thought about getting friends to take a banner/sign wishing the band a happy RUSH Hashanah ... besides, you know what they say: shofar, show good! ;) )

#12 idrum2 - yup, I'll be with ya on the no-Rush-on-Rosh-Hashanah bandwagon...

#22 scottw: lol! you may have a winner there--see if VH1 goes for it ;)
#24 - Posted 9/12/08 @7:53AM by tr1gger [contact]

That's sounds great and long overdue - does anyone know if the schedules for VH1 Classic are the same in Europe as the USA???
#25 - Posted 9/12/08 @8:56AM by freewilly [contact]

That's cool of VH1Classic, they 'should' broadcoast RUSH's set on Toronto Rocks (a.k.a. SARSStock) festival from 2003 too (about 35 minutes). It was recorded and broadcoasted live, I think by CNN but only two or three RUSH tracks appeared on the official Toronto Rocks dvd. A bootleg is existing of the whole set, look out for it! (if you know how to handle torrents, see link or link good luck.

PS very nice info about RUSH on that event: link

Stupid. A shameless PR stunt exploiting a band that has hammered organized religion on so many fronts. Yet everybody is lapping this up as if it's something wonderful. Stupid.

"His mind is not for rent
to any God or government"
#28 - Posted 9/12/08 @10:52AM by rocinante5m [contact]

uh, yeah, another PR stunt by the boys......man, they gotta stop with these stunts.....this one maybe worse then when they all showed up at the MTV Video Awards Show loaded and overweight and then stumbled on stage and tried to play Money for Nothing by Dire Straits........

2 each his own i suppose ?????
#29 - Posted 9/12/08 @11:25AM by Fiat

I'm not talking about Rush.

I'm talking about the pinheads at MTV/VH1 using Rush as a gimmick for a religious holiday.

Stupid.
#30 - Posted 9/12/08 @1:18PM by broughtbytheletterssssss [contact]

Happy Rush Hashana to all! Does it matter what is the reason to have a 24 hour Rush on VH1? As long as they have Rush on for us, they can have any reason they want!
#31 - Posted 9/12/08 @3:57PM by mommy_of_zuzu

Oy vey Ged's mom will be proud!

(I hope Ged pens an autobiography someday. His story is an inspiration for all children of Holocaust survivors and us all. Mazel Tov!)

They should have that sound bit from MiTa's site where Ged does the klemzer version of The Spirit of Radio.
#32 - Posted 9/12/08 @5:13PM by perfect sphere [contact]

Hashana Tova!!!

Rosh Hashanah is New Year's Day on the Jewish calendar.
Rush Hashanah on VH1 will be an over-the-top New Year's Day.

Idrum2, no Rush (on TV) on this most festive of Jewish holidays? For my somber Orthodox-Hassidim brethren maybe. It's not like they're running it on Yom Kippur, when even us Faithless Jews might take caution.

As a "gastronomic Jew" (non-religeous, but wouldn't turn down an invitation to a yummy high-holiday dinner), I would kvell (not kvetz) to celebrate the New Year (Rosh Hashanah) with Rush!

How do you feel about the Hollywood Walk of Fame thing? To me, that's the joke. "Because Rush has meant so much to Hollywood."

I understand what you're saying. Why not just honor Rush on a random Monday (or whenever) and not linking it with a religious holiday. You do realize that the only reason they're doing it when they're doing it is to play off the band's and holiday's name. If it was a non-religious holiday that had Rush in its name, they would've done it then.

The way I look at it is that little by little Rush is getting more exposure and respect and I get a Rush fix for 24 hours. I'll take it...and try not to read too much more than that into it.
#38 - Posted 9/14/08 @7:17PM by idrum2 [contact]

#32 - To each his own perfect sphere, but Torah is Torah. Enjoy the special and L'shanah Tova.
#39 - Posted 9/16/08 @8:31AM by justme [contact]

Even though you don't watch TV on Rosh Hashanah, you can record TV on Rosh Hashanah and watch it after Yom Tov. There's no reason to miss this.

What if Rush IS your religion?

it's mine :-D
