Rush makes-a-wish come true for one special fan
Posted at 12:40PM | comments (114)

Make-A-Wish FoundationSamantha is a 16-year-old Rush fan from Summerville, Georgia who was diagnosed with cancer back in August of 2007. 3 months into her treatment she was approached by the Make-A-Wish Foundation and asked how they could help to make her wish come true. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. They've granted wishes to 1000s of children since their inception in 1980 and are run entirely on donations. Samantha's wish was to meet her favorite band - Rush. This marked the first time Rush had ever been approached for a Make-A-Wish request. Here is Samantha's amazing story in her own words.

Wish Granted

I looked out to where, soon, 10,000 people would be standing to hear the band that I was about to meet. It was surreal. Ever since I was four, I had dreamed of meeting them. I had wanted to meet them for most of my life. As I grew, they became some of my heroes. Then when I was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2007, my world changed. The one thing that remained consistent was my family and their music. Three months into treatment, Make-a-Wish, a nonprofit organization, came to me and told me that I had a wish. I could do anything but get a car or a swimming pool. The things that I could do were numerous. I thought about it until the day they came to get my wish. Finally making my decision, I told them that I wanted to meet Rush.

The morning of July 20th, we went to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte, North Carolina. We met with the head of security the band liaison, Kevin Ripa, who gave my family and I a tour of the stage, backstage and the dressing rooms. I got to meet the techs for the band: Bucky, the guitar tech, Gump, the drum tech, and Russ, the bass and keyboard tech. I even got to sit at Neil Peart's drum kit and hold Alex Lifeson's 1976 Gibson es355. After that we went to the back to wait for the bands arrival. I sat in on a security meeting and then I went back onto the stage to meet them. I first saw Geddy Lee. I was in awe. He smiled and gave me a hug. We started to talk a little when I saw a man in a white shirt and baseball cap come up. I did not notice who it was at first, thought he was just some guy, then I looked again. It was Neil Peart, one of my heroes. My emotions overcame me and I started to cry. At that point Neil gave me a hug. The last to arrive on stage was Alex Lifeson. He was a good natured person and a fun person to talk to. I told him that I listened to the song "Hope" over and over during my chemo treatments and the song meant a lot to me. That made him smile. After a little talking, the band went to their respective parts of the stage for the sound check. I went off the stage and to the rail at the front row. They played a few songs including Subdivisions, The Trees, and Ghost of a Chance. I then took a moment to take in where I was and what I was doing. I engraved everything on my mind, forgetting all else. It was like being in a perfect world filled with music. I went back on stage and Alex played the song Hope for me, which made me cry because of what it meant to me during my treatment. When the sound check was over, the band signed a few things including my copy of "Roadshow". Neil signed it "To Samantha, You can get back on! Neil Peart" I told him that my illness was like the lyrics in Farcry that go "some days I feel I'm ahead of the wheel and the next it's rolling over me". Neil also gave me the sticks he used for the sound check. Alex and Geddy gave me a bunch of picks. Geddy also gave me a "Henhouse" t-shirt. All generous gifts. I was also able to tell the band what their music has meant to me and my family, and also thank them for it. Then, the meet was over. It was an amazing 2 hours for me and my family. But the night was just beginning.

We went to the concert we had 5th row seats. During the first couple of songs, Kevin Ripa called me up on stage. After the song Ghost Of A Chance, Geddy walked up to the mic to talk to the crowd for the first time of the night. After saying hello, he mentioned that they had "a ton of material" for the crowd. He then said "but first, we would like to dedicate this next song to my friend Sam, this is from Hold Your Fire it's called Mission". Mission is one of my very favorite songs and Geddy told me while we were talking that it was his favorite song to play. For the third time that day, I cried. Watching the band play that song from on stage was overwhelming especially since they were playing it for me. The rest concert was phenomenal, and the day was one that I will never forget. My Dad and I also attended the Atlanta show 2 days later (THANKS PHILLIP!). I met many people there that were also at the Charlotte show that asked me about the song dedication. I was nice meeting everyone. I just told them that Make-A-Wish and Rush made it all possible. It was an unreal couple of days! Thank you Rush and thank you Make-A-Wish!

Make-a-Wish is an organization that grants once an a lifetime "wishes" to children with diseases like Cancer, Spina Abifida, Sickle Cell Animea, and other illnesses. It is an amazing organization. They made this such a special day for me and did everything in their power to make an awesome experience. The organization runs entirely on donations. If you would like to donate, see inspiring stories, or volunteer go to www.wish.org.

At last I would like to give a list of my favorite Rush songs

* Resist
* Mission
* Test for Echo
* Summertime Blues
* Working Them Angels
* Totem
* Hope
* Far Cry
* Malignant Narcissism
* Second Nature
* Marathon
* Force Ten
* Everyday Glory

My favorite albums are Test for Echo and Snakes and Arrows.

Thank you for letting me tell my story.

Samantha Dyar

I'm happy to say that Sam celebrated her 6th month of remission on August 16th and is doing great! Her father John also supplied some more details about the meeting which lasted for about 2 hours including sound check. They toured the dressing rooms and all around the stage and their family were the only people there during the sound check. Sam had an all access pass for the show and Rush's tour photographer John Arrowsmith followed her and her family around, taking several pictures many of which you can check out here. They also got to spend some time with Rush's lighting director Howard Ungerleider. Except for the few songs she was on stage, Sam watched the entire show from the rail (she liked the sound better out front). Sam's first Rush concert was during the Test for Echo tour when she was only 5 and she has seen Rush live a total of 10 times. Her very first concert was the Grateful Dead at age 4. Be sure to check out all the pictures from the meeting at this location. The expressions on Sam's face really speak for how magical of an experience this was for her. Many thanks to her, her family, Rush and the Make-A-Wish Foundation for allowing me to share this with everyone.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is run entirely on donations. For information on how you can help, please visit this link.

How incredibly touching.

Neil doesn't look too happy, however. . .

What a great experience for Samantha.

It just never surprises me what a great bunch of guys Rush and their crew are, and they prove it over and over.

Anyone else out there just read this story and it made you proud that you're a Rush fan?
#4 - Posted 9/24/08 @12:57PM by Kelly D [contact]

Gah! I'm so overcome with "the goodness of humanity" right now. Brings a little tear to my eye :)
#5 - Posted 9/24/08 @1:00PM by crusher87 [contact]

Beautiful story - I love these guys! The music means that much more to me knowing that they are real, down-to-earth people. Other bands must do stuff like this too but somehow it seem's different for Rush - more honest, maybe...
#6 - Posted 9/24/08 @1:19PM by Bridget33

What an amazing story. This brought a tear to my eye, too, Kelly D! They are the best...not only amazing musicians, but wonderful people as well.
#7 - Posted 9/24/08 @1:23PM by GoldenRushFan [contact]

GRgreg,
not that I needed another reason, but I am proud to be a RUSH fan. I am not at all surprised that Rush and crew did this, and would not be surprised if one or more of the band members checks in on Samantha from time to time. great story.

I dare anyone to read through this entry and come away dry-eyed.

WOW

This story is such a mood lifter. I see compassion and kindness on Neil's face in this picture. The three of them are such classy and kindhearted men!

After 30+ years they still continue to amaze me with both their music and humanity. The world is a better place because of people like this. My prayers will be with you always Samantha. Yes , it did bring a tear to my eye...

#13 - Posted 9/24/08 @1:50PM by Hakky [contact]

What a story.
goosebumps at minimum...
I'm at work, gulping the story down.

I love how Neil signed the book.
I totally understand Sam crying 3x.

THese guys continue to pull off class act maneuvers one after the other.
Not to mention all the music! lol

Makes me appreciate health, and if I never win a meet-greet its fine. I can live vicariously thru Sam's legend.
Awesome.

Thanks for letting Sam tell her story Ed. It is a day our family will never forget. The highlights of the day for Sam was talking to Neil, Alex playing "Hope" for her, and Geddy dedicating "Mission" to her. I will never forget watching her on stage during that song. I really don't think that I have very seen her so happy. Rush and Make-A-Wish went above and beyond for her. My personal highlight was talking to Alex for about 15 minutes, holding his ES-355 (all the history in that guitar) and hearing Neil say "Hey Alex...he saw us at the Cleveland Agora!" during our family picture. It was an unreal day.

Thanks again Ed. Good job.

Yeah-- nice story. I was at Charlotte around Row 9 Geddy side and saw her there- on stage, the Mission dedication, etc. --Good to know she's doing well and let's have a tip o' the hat to Rush for the 1st class treatment. Nicely done all the way around.

I can't stop smiling/tearing up. Such a great story, and I'm so happy to read that she's doing well, too.

(I'm a big fan of her T-shirt, as well.)

I believe I ran into Sam in Atlanta...great great story. As a band this might have been a first request...but I know for a fact that Neil has met some dying people as wishes on his own in the past.

ONE VERY PROUD RUSH FAN :) Rush is one class act.

Samantha, your story is so touching, thanks for letting Ed share your story with us. Reading this story was an inspiration to me today, much needed :)

The pictures were GREAT! Enjoyed seeing Samantha behind Neil's kit touching it (very moving), her face while holding Alex's guitars (PRICELESS!), and when she is looking at Geddy (Surreal I bet?). Samantha, you deserved it, cherish it and I hope that positive energy from that day is keeping you strong.

Best wishes to you and your family.

P.S. Samantha's Dad didn't look like he was going to give up Alex's guitar in one of those pictures(lol)
#27 - Posted 9/24/08 @2:58PM by pinkfloyd2000 [contact]

Real good stuff here. I wish her all the best. And hey, it's also nice to see that someone else appreciates the highly-underrated "Test For Echo." ;-)

I count "Totem" among my top 10 Rush songs, all-time.
#28 - Posted 9/24/08 @3:01PM by Denny Crane [contact]

ghost_rider, #25

I got a kick out of that double-sided laminated velco setlist also. I looked carefully and noticed those handware hooks used to secure Neil's set to the platform. Damn, how hard does that guy hit those drums???

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Wow - thank you for sharing such a deeply moving story! It certainly helps to put things in perspective. Samantha has chosen wisely in her selection for music to be moved, inspired and seek solace in. So glad that Rush were able to make such a special day for her!
A prayer out to Samantha and her family for strength...may she remain victorious against this disease.

How touching... Out of the band's generosity, they made true a dream many of us carry for that girl.

Way to go, Rush!
And don't lose hope, Sam.
#33 - Posted 9/24/08 @3:20PM by Margo [contact]

As I type this comment, I am practically weeping uncontrollably. What the guys did for this girl was very beautiful. I am so glad she is in remission. I was diagonsed with cancer in April 2001 and I can relate to what she may have went through. The chemo, radiation and then when the body starts to reject it, and tries to shut down. (That happened to me, as I lay in the emergency room thinking, this is it!) And the long days of sitting next to the bathroom with nausea so bad you want to die!
Following 16 months of treatment hell I went into remission.
I am really happy that Samamtha lived and got her wish!! This will be a cherished memory for her forever. This is makes me love the guys even more. :)
#34 - Posted 9/24/08 @3:22PM by hergest [contact]

What a wonderful, heartwarming story! Samantha seems like an incredible girl and Rush, as usual are wonderful people.

This story is really touching and I find that every day I grow fondoer ond fonder of Rush. People ask me why I love Rush and I just say that they just do certain things that you would not see any other celebrity doing over and over and over again. RUSH FOR EVER!!

Thank you Sam for telling the whole story. I was at the Charlotte show as well so it is nice to know the background to the dedication.

Thank you Ed for letting here share the whole day with us. You should work with Make-A-Wish to set up a specific donation fund for Rush Fans to use as a way of thanking them for helping one of our own!

2 words describe this story, samantha and her family, and rush themselves and their crew!!...CLASS ACT!!

I agree with eveyone that our boys are just great people, musicians, friends, humanitarians...the list goes on. And this extends to their crew as well. Everyone in the "business" and LIFE should take a page from these 3 great people.

A phenominal story!!!!!!!
#40 - Posted 9/24/08 @4:30PM by glortiz [contact]

Samantha, Your story did bring tears (of joy) and I had to read it about three times just to grasp the full impact of what you experienced. I am very happy you are in remission, you are one very lucky young lady so savor these memories and my wishes and prayers for you and a long and healthy life!

Mr. John Dyar, you and your family should be very proud and I am sure you all are! RIAB is a very good site, the folks here are first rate although opinions run deep. It would be nice if Samantha could pop in once in a while. Her story has inspired many of us as you can read and I am sure the folks here would love to chat with her about this and her love for Rush. That's something we all can share.

Ed, I can't thank you enough for sharing this story. As a self perceived news hound, being surrounded by so much bad news day after day after day, Samantha's story truly was a breath of fresh air. Thank you!

You are one lucky lady Samantha!

Samantha and parents:

I am a drug prevention specialist, and I have the opportunity to talk to kids all the time. With the thousands of kids I've spoken to/with over these many years, I am always amazed when that one true gem comes along; a young student who is intelligent, articulate, compassionate, understanding, sympathetic, empathetic, and so on.

You, my dear, are one of those gems. I'm sorry for what you have had to (and are) go through. I am sincerely glad that you are in remission, and I hope and pray that you stay that way.

Your choice to listen to Rush says a lot about you. I wish more kids could look at life the way you do. Good luck!

Samantha and family:

Wow, what a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing it. I will shed a little more "hope" for you. As a cancer survivor myself (just celebrated my 3-year remission date last week), as you aluded to in your story, one of my constants during 6 months of chemotherapy in 2005 (besides family, friends, & faith) was the music of my favorite band Rush. While your songs of meaning were Hope & Far Cry, mine was One Little Victory. During the last half of 2005, I can't tell you how many times I played that song in the hospital. I still sign-off my writing journal at my 3-month check-ups with my team of doctors with "One Little Victory" as my health continues to be good and cancer-free.

Like you, I cherish each and every moment of the Rush shows I have attended. I saw 2 on the Vapor Trails tour, 2 on the R30 tour, and 6 on the Snakes & Arrows tour in 2007-2008. I have travelled from Chicago (my home town) to Florida and Wisconsin to see Rush and to share the experience with close friends. Needless to say, I've shed a few tears during these recent shows. In some ways, we all (you, me, Rush, everyone) have survived some hardships. It is a result of these experiences that makes each and every day even more amazing. I'll never take anything for granted ever again. No looking back, only looking ahead to many more things life & Rush have to offer us.

Wishing you continued good health. By the way, the photos were awesome!!

I was lucky to have seen Rush in Charlotte! I was of course, on Geddy's side (no surprise there!) and think that concert was one of the best Rush shows of my entire life. What's really cool is that in my Geddy picture snapping frenzy, I managed not only to accidentally take a picture or two of Alex and Neil (LOL!) but I also managed to snap a picture of Sam when she was on the stage during the Charlotte concert. Here it is:
link

I'm so happy to hear that Sam's cancer in in remission. I've lost way too many precious people to cancer. "Resist" - ah yes, indeed!

On a personal level, Snakes and Arrows is a very precious album to me, too because it's helped me get through some really rough times since its release. I am very thankful for Rush. I am thankful that they're not only the best musicians in the world still putting out the best music in the world but they are some of the best human beings in the world!

Sam, all the best wishes! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers! You go, girl! :)

P.S. Is it me or am I the only one to notice how wrinkly Neil's white shirt was, lol!

I was lucky enough to attend that show. It felt like the proverbial magical show.. little did I know all the magic that was going on that day. Beautiful story, wonderful photographs. I remember Sam being introduced for Mission (Jon and I held up the We Love Rush starman banner during that intro), and during Mission I would look over at her and she was either singing along or smiling ear to ear. One time she looked at the crowd towards my section and I started pointing at her like, you da woman!! I don't know if she saw me, but it was great fun to see her having such a awesome time up there on stage. And clearly Rush went all out and first class to make it unbelievably memorable wish granted.

All the best to Samantha Dyar and her family.
#62 - Posted 9/24/08 @8:51PM by johndyar [contact]

#56...thanks for the link. Sam will like that. There is also a YouTube video of Mission from Charlotte. You can see her on Geddy's side during some of the song. Search "rush charlotte mission" and check it out.

Once again...thanks for the comments everyone. Sam will enjoy reading them.

That girl did one hell of a job writing up that story. Could say a lot more about my feelings on this, but what is the point? Simply put, it gave me a warm rush of emotion and put yet another exclamation point on how this band just keeps giving me more and more when I couldn't possibly ask for another thing. The more you learn about Geddy, Alex and Neil the more you realize that they really are worth our hero worship. I'm not sure there are a lot of things in this world that can stand up to close and continued scrutiny, but these guys just keep doing it for me.

Now I really really wish I had found the time to get from Raleigh to Charlotte.

Rush's class knows no bounds.

Sam, I pray that you continue to be lifted by grace... and stay on top of the wheel.

I want to thank everyone for their comments. Everyone's thoughts and prayers have been felt. I cannot express my gratitude enough and and so glad to know that so many people are behind me. I am also glad that I go to share my story. I hope to get the word out about cancer and orginizations like make-a-wish.

I read about some comments that have been left by cancer survivors or people still going through cancer and want to let these people know that they are my heros. The ones who can say yes, I had or have cancer, but that is not who I am. Cancer does not define me. I applaud you and you are all in my prayers.

Rush's music speaks for everyone in some way. We might not know it or cannot fully explain it, but it does. These men are one in a million. Regular joes with extroidinary personalities. I apperciate the band for everything they did and how amazing they made the experience.

(CoryB29, one little victory was also a favortie of mine:))

I want to thank Ed for helping me share my story. I apperciate it so much. You are a special man and I thank you for everything.

I at last, want to again thank everyone. I also ask that you pray for others that are going through even worse things than I did. Pray for those who might not get well. I am blessed, I survived. We must remember others and fight for a cure and show cancer how strong we are.
Again, thank you and God bless.

I'm a guy and found myself trying to hold back the flood behind my eyes. You know, these guys continue to do magical things, but they are so often over-looked as humanists by the general population. Proud to be in the RUSH family!

HMMM! Any of the future Rock-and-Roll Hall of Famers doing the same thing? Doubtful!
#68 - Posted 9/24/08 @10:22PM by luckyrushkid1 [contact]

Lerxster,
I ment to also say that I do remember you!! Thank so much
#69 - Posted 9/24/08 @10:30PM by primemover_3 [contact]

That is really an awesome story, and really made my day! It's great to read that she's doing better. What an awesome experience! A little Rush magic can go a long way...

Sam, we're all pulling for you!

I'm crying.

God I hope this girl survives for a long time.

Rush is too good for the world.

Great story Sam. I too was at the Charlotte show and recall witnessing the euphoria you were experiencing during Mission. What a magical moment. Thanks for sharing.

Wishing you nothing but good days ahead...

PRICELESS!

It's the first time EVER that a story on RIAB actually put a lump in my throat!
Those fifty-or-so pictures were AWESOME, the best backstage access I've ever seen.

Geddy, Alex, and Neil are sincere humanists. This was meaningful.
#75 - Posted 9/25/08 @12:37AM by missionman [contact]

They don't call me Missionman for nothing.

I like Mission myself.

COOL story!!!!

I also have "the lump" in my throat.

Dearest Sam,

My prayers are with you. Rest, take care of yourself, play a a lot and enjoy your very long, long, long, long life.

Many Blessings to You!!

Woah. Good thing I have a box of kleenex handy!

To Sam And also to her family: I am just soooo happy for all of you! What a wonderful experience it must have been! :D Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us here. Gotta' love the guys. They'll make us all proud every time, to be Rush fans!

You are all in my prayers as well. As desertgirl4rush said, take care, Hon, and enjoy your very long, long, long, long life. Haven't seen you around here before, so I just want to say I hope you'll stick around and post from now on! :)
#78 - Posted 9/25/08 @6:39AM by Lerxster [contact]

:D and :) #68- thank you for sharing your story! You are now a Rush Legend :)
#79 - Posted 9/25/08 @7:31AM by oddtimesarcasm [contact]

This is just slightly off subject, but not too far....While browsing through the photos of the Make-A-Wish event I realized that Geddy never seems to have a "bad" photo taken of him these days....

I'm a dude, but I got to say - for a fella who has been poked at for his looks by some over the years - Geddy Lee has damn near developed into a ZooLander male model in his somewhat old age. Anymore, his look just screams "I'm a Veteran Cosmic Rock Star, bask in my charisma and weathered good looks...."

Hes like the Robert Redford of Progressive Rock. I wonder what shampoo he uses...

Sorry I just had to tell somebody that. I feel better now
#80 - Posted 9/25/08 @7:37AM by GedHed [contact]

#79: So, what you're saying is, Geddy's hot?

Ummm...*yeah*!!! ;)
#81 - Posted 9/25/08 @8:12AM by PetieLee [contact]

Ah yes, Geddy is hot! Zoolander hot - oh yeah! Woo Hoo! :P

Love da Geddy! Miss da Geddy!

Sam, What a great story! My family and I wish you all the best!
#84 - Posted 9/25/08 @9:26AM by LovLee [contact]

There is not a lot more to say, but...

OMG!! I'm all choked up! Samantha and family, thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story with all of us. I am so glad to hear that you are doing well and I will "HOPE" and pray that you stay that way for a very long time. What an experience you had and such memories! The pictures were all wonderful, but to actually have a picture with Neil is "priceless"! Touching Neil's Drums...WHOA

I am in awe of these 3 wonderful human beings, and the things they do, for so little recognition. Alex, Geddy and Neil are are own little piece of heaven.

CoryB29 - Thank you for sharing your story also and glad to hear your celebrating your remission, That is good news to hear.

PetieLee - Great picture!!

Ed - Thank you

How totally cool is this story! I'm making a $100 donation to "Make a Wish" right now. Each fan should reach into their heart and make a donation too. This year is especially tough for all types of private charities.
#89 - Posted 9/25/08 @12:01PM by zybraman [contact]

I am also teary eyed! I Think the world of those guys!
I know how she feels, when I got a set of sticks from Neil @ Red Rocks during working them angels, that some took a different slot in my mind and the tears flowed like rain!
Ahhhhh its wonderfull world!
#90 - Posted 9/25/08 @12:41PM by Presto [contact]

i love samanthas favorite song list. totem is a great, great song and mission may be the best song they ever did as far from the album to how it sounds live...

everyday glory, second nature, awesome...

what great pics too, just seeing the coolness once again of rush chilling with her and her family, the shots look like they could have been any of us yknow? just standing in awe, holding the guitar, chatting with them.

way to go samantha and great to hear shes doing well.

shes got great taste in rush's music!
#91 - Posted 9/25/08 @12:50PM by bytorsfriend

After all these what else can be said.
My prayers and thoughts are with you on your recovery.What an inspiration these guys are for so many people in the world.I am so happy your wish came true.
Makes me sad I missed the Charlotte show.
I learned on the Rush in Rio interview that Alex suffers from Psoriasis. I too have suffered from it for years. Seeing and hearing his work has inspired me as a musician (drummer) to get up and perform no matter how I may look on the outside. What comes from within makes all the difference. This band exemplifies this very nature of being an inspiration to all fans esp. those that are in need of inspiration and courage.
This is the very essence of what music as an art form should be.
No Hall of Fame induction could ever come close as to what those guys must have felt in the company of her and her family.

Wow...tears rolled down my face when reading this post. I wish Samantha all the best and happy to hear her cancer is in remission. What a wonderful story!

In ways MUCH too long to list....Geddy, Alex and Neil are my heroes.
#93 - Posted 9/25/08 @2:47PM by mommy_of_zuzu

Wow.

Live, Samantha, live!

Cancer isn't a death sentence. I think Rush would be very sad if they didn't see you again, so never give up Hope.

THANKS FOR SHARING, you made my day. You made me cry, you & the guys made me proud, you moved me.

Hang in there Sam. I found listening to Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, and Presto are some of the most inspiring albums during the hardest of times. God Bless You.

Sam,
You look so happy in those pics. I would have been so friggin' nervous!
My wife, like you, is a cancer survivor and is coming up on 5 years cancer free! Cancer IS beatable and you are a great example of that.

I've had Everyday Glory in my head for two days since I read this post. Seems like songs like this as well as
Second Nature and Totem seem to get sadly forgotten.
Make every day a blessing and always
"rise from the ashes a blaze of Everyday Glory!!!"

immensely proud that over the 26 years of my experience, the members of Rush have never once given me cause to think they are anything but genuine, caring human beings... sadly bleak senses of humor, but still caring! : )

Sam, so glad you're with us here... Stay Well!

Hope... hang on to it Sam!

Sam, what a truly inspiring story I teared up a couple times and reveled in the joy that the boys brought to you and your family. When we all found out that you were in remission that was truly a great day. It truly made me appreciate them all that much morem,forget the hall of shame, the are hall of famers in our hearts. Remember, from Marathon, "Something always fire the light that gets in your eyes" and from you eyes we can see what what that fire is , the love and respect of some wonder human beings. Be well and let us know how you are doing.
