Neil Peart's bike and kit at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame
Posted at 9:03PM | comments (24)

UPDATE - 7/11@10:40AM: Reader Gabe sent me a link to this Flickr photo gallery which contains a bunch of motorcycle pics including a few of Neil Peart, Dave the bus driver and Michael Mosbach visiting the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum. Just check out the last couple rows of pics on the first page and the first row on the second page. I included thumbnails of some of the more notable ones. The photos were taken on July 1st so they must have stopped there on their way to the Pittsburgh show.

Last weekend there was a VIP gala and dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of the MotoStars: Celebrities and Motorcycles exhibit at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington, Ohio. Neil Peart donated his 94 BMW R1100GS motorcycle, his R30 drum kit and other memorabilia to the Museum. The memorabilia was recently put up for auction to raise money for the Museum while the bike and kit are on display in the exhibit. Readers Genaro and Chris paid a visit to the museum and took some great pics to share with us all. Click on the thumbnails above to see the full pictures. Also thanks to Michael from NeilPeartDrumsticks.com for letting me know that the bike Neil donated was his 94 BMW R1100GS.

Ed man-Thank you for that mister. Only on RIAB.com can you get pics and info like this way before the common folk. Holy Shit, and I speak for many of us, when I opened the shot of that R30 Kit I had goosebumps the size of chicken eggs. Let me say it again, Holy Shit.

Let me tell ya something Unk, if I owned that kit, it would have a brand new room wrapped around it with 4 deadbolts and one key. Wouldn't be a need for dirty magazines in this house. They would be hittin the recycle bin.

Hey Kelly-You've been all over these forums lately girlfriend! Total Rush mode. Saw you were looking to snag another set of sticks as well. You greedy little.............whatever ;)

Speaking of cool Rush chicks, where the hell have LovLee and GeddyGirl been? LovLee has got to be reachin the 4-5 dozen refill mark on those Geddy Soap on a Ropes......A frequent flyer one would say.

NITROSTE-A new Lipton product with a triple dose of caffeine

Funny about Ed starting this thread...I just went to see this today on my return home from vacation. All I can tell everyone....is that it was amazing. Being able to stand next to Neil's drumset was a thrill of a lifetime. The exhibit info states that this is the actual R30 kit...not one of the 30 made by DW. His bike is the one he took on his Ghost Rider journey. It's neat to examine all the little scratches and dings....the canadian flag on the left saddlebag....of all the celebrity bikes on display...the BMW is the most beat up looking.

This museum is only 10 minutes from downtown Columbus....2 minutes of the expressway.

If you have the opportunity.....this is definitely worth checking out. I will try to upload more pics when I get a chance.

I don't know how this guy was able to sit behind the kit.......there were signs all over the riser warning of touch sensors on the kit and video surveillance of the area....probably because of people doing this!!

hope a drool rag comes with that museum tour. . . can't see any one of us passing through without leaving a little behind.
;) LOL LOL LOL

i crack myself up.

Where'd that 4th photo go? Removed due to security violation?
#11 - Posted 7/7/08 @12:56AM by Rush Fan Since 1976 [contact]

Off topic but three Rush references on the Sportscenter following the Yankee/Redsox game-due to the Chicago Rush being in the arena football playoff's... Name dropped all three guys, and riffed on Working Man...

This reminded me of the album Test 4 Echo. There's not much on it that's of the caliber of Moving Pictures, or even noticeable at all. However, this song "Color of right" is quite decent, and has some really good chorus with Geddy voices and Lifeson strumming, arpeggios.

#11 Caught that! Effing great game. Wakefield has some Knuckler!! Yanks pulled it off.

Wait, isn't that the bike he made the Ghost Rider journey with? That is a pretty heavy donation, his wife gave him that. I am thinking it might be a different bike. Anyone?
#15 - Posted 7/7/08 @12:47PM by TommYYZ [contact]

I guess it is, wow. that is heavy.

On a side note, I don't know if anyone watched the Wimbelton Final yestarday but an announcer was commenting on how things have changed at Wimbleton but was also talking about the excitement or something and he was all, 'I guess it is true what they say, the more things change the more they stay the same."
#16 - Posted 7/7/08 @3:19PM by Promark747 [contact]

Hey--the above comment during the Wimbledon final was by tennis star John McEnroe (he was doing commentary during the match), who is an avid guitar player; RUSH fan and friend to Alex. The actual comment wasn't originally written by Neil though, its just an old saying...
#17 - Posted 7/7/08 @4:04PM by TommYYZ [contact]

It was not Mac, it was the other announcer. I was routing for Fedderer to break Borg's record.

I met Borg when I was young, he said, 'Get away from me kid." Jerk. Bet he was happy yesterday. I don't see how anyone who watches tennis can't say that that match was one of the best ever played. Really amazing.
#18 - Posted 7/7/08 @5:21PM by windycitygirl [contact]

i'm going to use some numbers from the 4th photo to play the lotto.

born 1952
bike 535.7 lbs
type stuff...

see if i can hit any wins.

maybe catch the indy show.

cross fingers

This is awesome of Neil. Too bad they won't be there permanently. I've got to get to Pickerington before they're gone!!!
#20 - Posted 7/7/08 @8:27PM by TommYYZ [contact]

ok that makes more sense, it is an exihibit, not a donation. Right?
#21 - Posted 7/7/08 @8:38PM by Rob

#20....In one word..............yes
#22 - Posted 7/8/08 @12:13AM by TommYYZ [contact]

must be some CIA plot to get diehard RUSH fans to travel to Ohio...

i Was lucky enough to catch the sailing of the S.S. Professor in San Jose so I have touched Neil's works. Reminded me of the time i ran my fingers over the stone and through the carved grooves.....a jajuar biting the head off an unfortunate soul...carved like 1000 years ago in ChickenPizza mexico. kinda the same thing.
#23 - Posted 7/8/08 @12:19AM by TommYYZ [contact]

hey,on a side side note. when i saw Chris Stanke speak I could not escape the idea that i had spoken with him before. Does anyone know if chris has any roots in Charlottesville VA? This is where i believe i may have encountered a young Chris Stanke.
#24 - Posted 7/10/08 @1:39PM by uclabruins21 [contact]

I remember Borg when he lost to Mac, "Why don't you talk to him, he won." Jerk, but it has too be excruciating to lose a battle like that. Federer was totally great, I wish he could've pulled it off, but Nadal is a really gracious winner after owning the Tiger Woods of tennis. Greatest US Open golf and Wimbledon ever, what a year.
