Alex Lifeson's house for sale

[Rosedale Loses a Rocker]

UPDATE - 4/21@11:35AM: Here's the property listing which contains some pictures. Nice place. For those who are worried about Lerxst's privacy, my guess is that the house isn't currently occupied and that Big Al and Charlene have probably already bought another residence. Besides - Alex is on tour, so he wouldn't be there anyways. :) Also, the publicity is probably more than welcome since it may help him unload the place quicker and for more money.

I received a barrage of emails over the weekend regarding this next news item. Saturday's edition of the Toronto Globe and Mail featured an article titled Rosedale Loses a Rocker which revealed that Alex Lifeson's Rosedale, Ontario home is up for sale for 5.7 million dollars. Rosedale is the Toronto suburb that both Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee have called home for several years. From the article:

... Torontonians wanting an up-close glimpse of these legends can hang around Rosedale, where Mr. Zivojinovic and Mr. Lee, also a Rosedale denizen, are frequently seen picking up their groceries at the Summerhill Market. But as far as Mr. Zivojinovic goes, they'll have to act fast as it's uncertain whether, after selling his house, the rocker will buy in the neighbourhood.

Word on his exclusive street, home to such leading lights as industrialist and philanthropist Walter Carsen, is that with his two children grown (including son Justin, with whom he was arrested in 2003 during an altercation with police at the Ritz Carlton in Naples, Fla.), Mr. Zivojinovic, like many empty-nesters, will be looking for a home smaller than the 6,000-square-foot behemoth that he has occupied for the past 10 years with wife Charlene. ...

Regarding your post (#70). I am no one close to the band either. Just a lucky fan who got some passes and 2nd row tix. There was an outdoor patio type area fenced off for an after party with tables and coolers of drinks. We hung out for a while waiting to see if any of the band would show. Eventually Al did. He seemed to know a few of the folks personally, talked to them, signed a few things (including my poster)and that was it. Geddy didn't come into that area and we all know Neil was long gone. One cool thing of note, I met Nick R's mother at this party. That was cool. I asked her to extend much kudos to Nick for me for producing a great album.

How silly of the press to mention the OLD Florida incident, as well as make what little privacy they have public.

It's a beautiful family home, worth every penny. 6000 sq ft is a necklace of rocks to me. I'm surprised it's on a regular-looking street, I thought they'd be in wooded, gated places--but they're just folks!

Thank goodness he bought 10 years ago--I truly hope he sells it quickly for on or close to his asking price. I should be getting 300K for my place and I've lowered it to 260K - its appraised value, after being on the market for a year.

It costs a lot of money to be rich. I don't envy them their taxes, and the salaries they need to pay to people just to handle their lives. I'm surprised people are surprised Neil had money problems. If they don't work, they're just broke on a different level than us!

necro - yeah, that Circumstances is really great. it's an awesome CircumstancesSandwich - between Secret Touch and Between The Wheels.
it sounds heavier because i think they tuned it down so Geddy could sing lower for it.

nice lyric call-up Lance. shArp lit'l RushRat you are.

Coldman-No disrespect there chappy! Are you in a bad mood today? Dr. Shred would like to prescribe a tablespoon of S&A Live and a quick visit to the salad bar.

By the way in regards to the girl designation and I'll steal the lyrics from your name:

"You know how complex women are......I'll be around...."

Love, Mrs. Willard

I may have missed it scrolling through but I remember an interview with Alex I think and he said that the boys were not financially secure until after the release guessed it, Moving Pictures.

Blah blah... some of you have way way to much time on your hands. The EGO's around here from those who ALWAYS have to get the last word and people who "stick" together are to funny for us lurkers who watch all the drama day after day. I should have kept my thoughts to myself on second thought! Enjoy yourselves girls!

Oh by the way-Top of the day to Unk and The Necro-I have been getting my kicks listening to S&A Live and rotating in a different Rush album daily. Getting pumped for the real thing!! My rat tail is waggin so hard my hips hurt!

well, i really don't care at all what they are worth, it surely isn't mine or anybody else's business.
but it was obviously harmless curiosity stemming from the house listing a quick question posed by a thread member. got some wheels turning in peoples' heads factoring in on how prolific the boys have been over the decades with all the touring, record releases, DVDs, live album releases, merch, endorsements, etc.....and what that could maybe, possibly bring you financially. i know i have no clue. don't really care either, but a little curious.

but some of you should lighten up a bit; it's harmless, mild discussion on a slow Rush day, and a topic that really never ever gets breached in here.

but "pathetically disgusting" ??? ... really?? i laughed when i read that "nonsense".
you've got to be kidding me sunshine.
