Posted at 12:00AM | comments (205)

Rush Snakes & Arrows TourUPDATE - 1/18@8:46AM: From the official press release:

... The 2008 tour dates and venues are listed below. Tickets for New Orleans, Reno, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver and Detroit go on sale SATURDAY JANUARY 26. American Express Cardmembers will also have the opportunity to purchase advance tickets January 26th through February 1st for Rush performances in Boston; Chicago, Ft. In addition there will be a MUSICTODAY fan club presale for all Rush performances in conjunction with RUSH.COM starting January 22 through January 24.

A SNAKES AND ARROWS LIVE CD will be released sometime in April. Details are forthcoming. ...

No more speculating; there will be a live CD. There also is no mention of South America. I don't know what's up with that; hopefully some details will be forthcoming. I fixed the May dates - the low-fi version of Rush.com had them a bit mixed up.

UPDATE - 1/18@8:02AM: US and Canadian dates are up! Check them out here.

UPDATE - 1/18@7:29AM: Good morning. Dates are starting to pop up on Ticketmaster. That Pittsburgh show is going to happen on July 2nd. It also looks like January 26th will be the date the first round of tickets go on sale; this is the case for the Detroit show with pre-sales beginning on the Tuesday Monday prior (Jan. 21). Also, in case you missed it - in the last update to my previous post late last night I indicated that the Milwaukee show is a go and will occur on June 27th at the Marcus Amphitheater.

The Rush.com email list just sent out an email stating that the official tour dates announcement will be at 8AM. I did not receive the email yet myself and most of you probably didn't either. Their email list seems to take forever to get out to everyone on the list. And there were a lot of problems with their last email; a bunch of people got duplicate emails while a bunch more received nothing. Luckily reader rush-tours-rule forwarded me his copy. Here's what it says:

It's official! The 2008 Snakes & Arrows Live Tour will be announced Friday, January 18th at 8am EST at http://www..RUSH.com . For full tour details, including onsales and fan club presales, please stay tuned to the website.

So we can all go to bed now. See you back here at 8AM! I'll be updating this post with the official dates as soon as we get them. Also... notice how they refer to it as the Snakes & Arrows Live tour?? Remember when I mentioned those rumors about a live CD? This makes me think those rumors are true. :)

Seems kinda strange that there is nothing at rush.com announcing this. There was an announcement on there back in December staying to stay tuned for a big annoucement the next day (to announce the 2008 tour would happen). Now they DON'T put up anything like this on there to tell us about the tour dates announcement? I'll believe it when I see it.

Rush.com is weak... seems like they should have more up there, and have their act together a little bit more.
this site is superior.

Seems like RUSH.com is down currently (12:40am EST). Trying to access from the west coast so don't know if it's the hotel isp, but everything else works. Wonder if they're doing a 2008 tour site update???

I really hope they got the Gwinnett date secured. Doesn't look like it will fit with the PR and FL shows listed previously. Certainly no room for both ATL (Gwinnett) and Charlotte. CRAP!

Southeast gettin' screwed! :( Need to hit ATL, Charlotte, Nashville, and even Birmingham this time around.

RUSHnATL

I agree with you there!!!

How is the Gwinnett center? I am coming down there for the VH show on Feb 25th and have never been to that place. I am also going to the Feb 10th VH show at Phillips arena.

I agree that the southeast is getting screwed on the snakes tour, but we are NOT getting screwed in college sports!

SEC is home to the most powerful athletic schools in the country!!!!!!!!

Geddy, Alex and Neil, you heard it here! We need Nashville, Lexington, ATL, Birmingham etc....

sully_digs (#15) - Not sure about the Gwinnett Arena for a concert. Rush hasn't played there yet so I haven't been there for a show. I've been there for a hockey game and it's SMALL! It's probably about the size of the Bi-Lo Center (or whatever it might be now) in Greenville, SC if you've ever been there. I think it's about 10-13k on concerts "full house". There shouldn't be a bad seat in the house.

If you're going to the Gwinnett show and not staying close by in a hotel GO THERE EARLY!!! Traffic and Parking might suck! Traffic will certainly suck because of the evening rush hour.

I'd love to be able to see Rush within 15 miles of the house. So much better than the 50 mile drive to the outdoor crappy venue in the "not so good part of town" in Atlanta. I'd much rather drive to Charlotte than drive to the Atlanta venue again.

GO SEC! Best damn college football conference in the nation!!!! ROLL TIDE! :)

Summerfest makes first amphitheater announcement of the season

It's the earliest glimmer of spring - long before the Brewers head to Arizona or the first robin finds a frozen worm - Summerfest has announced its first main-stage booking for 2008: Rush.

The progressive-rock behemoth is to rumble into the Marcus Amphitheater on June 27 for a 7:30 p.m. show, festival officials announced today.

The event will be part of the second leg of Rush's Snakes and Arrows Tour, which started last year.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 2 through Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 and at www.ticketmaster.com. They will cost $75, $60 and $40. A limited number of free lawn seats will be available on the day of the show.

Snakes and Arrows is the largest-grossing tour in the Canadian power trio's long history. The band also played the Marcus Amphitheater in September on the first leg of the tour and sold out.

Summerfest is June 26 through July 6.

Hello Washington State Loves Rush,
Are you excited that the show will be at the Gorge instead of the hateful White River Amphitheater? I saw them there from the 10th row on the Vapor Trails tour. Amazing.

I have to say, I'm feeling rather spoiled! 3 shows in Texas?! Waaahhhoooooooo! Who's up for a trip down here to the Lone Star State?

Well, I've got to leave for work, but it's semester exam day at school again, and the first period is my conference. I'm sure I'll show up on here again instead of doing something more constructive...

Hope everyone gets to make at least one show this leg!

Looks like the rumored, possible second show in Puerto Rico is out. With the Ft. L show in Florida two days, later, that doesn't leave much room for tear down and reinstall. Too bad, I already had the green light from the wife... :-(

FRONT PAGE IS WRONG!

The Lo-fi version of the page has the WRONG VENUE NAMES, at least for a good portion of the tour. In May 2008, Winnipeg, MB is MTS Center, Brandt Center is in Regina, and Rexall Place is in Saskatchewan. I know that those 3 for sure are wrong, so I'm sure the rest is somehow messed up as well. To be absolutely sure, check the Hi-Fi (Flash) version of the site.
#70 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:34AM by red16devils [contact]

will be interesting to see what songs they add/drop for '08...

F**K F**K F**K
No Buffalo date. what the hell !!!!!!!!!!!
#72 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:36AM by Jerimiah40 [contact]

Sorry, my post didn't make much sense - I'm excited, give me a break :P

The front page of this site is incorrect. When I referred to lo-fi and hi-fi pages, I was referring to low and high bandwidth versions of rush.com.
#73 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:39AM by STEVE.C [contact]

Where are the Halifax & St. John dates?????? What a big let down after all the excitement over the last few weeks but i should have known it wouldn't happen. This is not a good day to celebrate and i'm really sick about the whole thing.
#74 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:40AM by fernwood [contact]

I've been lurking here for ages now, and finally had to make a comment. No Halifax or Saint John dates? Curses!!! *shakes fist in the air* My hopes have been dashed....
#75 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:43AM by crusher87 [contact]

Any thoughts on the South American dates being at the beginning of the tour, or at the end? As it stands now there is room in August and September for a bunch more dates, I suppose Europe will be in the mix as well, though I'm hoping for a MAdison Square Garden date!
#76 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:43AM by Bughead [contact]

Yes! My excitement can barely be contained...A word for anyone possibly attending the Hershey, Pa show. The Hershey Stadium is basically a third rate football field with astro turf and folding chairs. In the four times I have been there, there is a beer limit per person. There is no "hanging out" before or after the show. The pre and post show scene is non-existant. This is irrevelant to me, for seeing the boys is plenty enough for me. Bye for now friends and see ya out there--Bughead

2008 Tour kicking-off in Atlantic Canada hey.... The only kicking think about this is Atlantic Canada got a kick in the a**. Sooooooo dissapointed.

Jerimiah40, the flash site still have 2007 dates...
or at least on my pc...
#79 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:46AM by Griffin272 [contact]

Yeah, there's just as many dates in Texas and Florida as there are in the whole of Canada. Way to represent, guys. I swear, they don't like us Atlantic Canadians. Right now, the feeling is mutual.
#80 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:49AM by peg [contact]

i hear you bobcityrocker, im also disappointed :(
oh well montreal or TO it is
unless more dates are going posted later????? :)
#81 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:49AM by STEVE.C [contact]

It's really not fair to get our hopes up here in Atlantic Canada and then we are letdown as usual. It's all about the Big Money i would think.
#82 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:49AM by timenmotion [contact]

My dumb machine still shows dates for 07???
#83 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:49AM by Jerimiah40 [contact]

Red - Try clearing your cache. I've got 2008 dates, and they all look correct. Low bandwidth version has some of the venues mixed up.
#84 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:52AM by Jerimiah40 [contact]

Front page has been corrected now. Thanks Ed :)
#85 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:58AM by longtimephillyfan [contact]

Hard to believe they are playing indoors at the Wachovia in the summer.Nice.
#86 - Posted 1/18/08 @8:58AM by Red Star [contact]

Thanks Jerimiah40, now I saw the 2008 dates on flash site :)

BUT STILL NO DATES ABOUT SOUTH AMERICA, MY PRECIOUSSS!! :(

Long live Rush!!!!!!!
#89 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:04AM by crusher87 [contact]

Weird - on rush.com, when I access the high bandwidth version there is no press release and it still shows the 2007 dates. When I access the low bandwidth version both the press release and 2008 dates are there. What gives? Anyone have any ideas?

And I still haven't seen an email even though my address is registered....
#90 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:07AM by peg [contact]

Hey STEVE.C,
think they will be adding more Cdn. dates????...i want to book my flight to TO but if they play halifax i'd fly there....

WOOHOO! My Saratoga date is official!

It's funny because it seems like in the beginning of all the tour rumors that Rush would be playing places they haven't been in years or ever...but it looks like they are returning to a lot of the same areas.
#94 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:22AM by crusher87 [contact]

Red Star, I'm technology-challenged. How do I clear cache?

Opening song for the new set list? How about Workin' Them Angels?

We got the news about the live CD.... out in April, but what about the live DVD... Surely that must forthcoming soon...

I need my fix as there not coming to the UK this time !!!!
#99 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:31AM by Griffin272 [contact]

No, it doesn't appear that Halifax, or Saint John, for that matter, are still a go. I'm livid, to say the least.
#100 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:33AM by AirGuiTar [contact]

Oh man Im was dying for them to hit up Halifax, or at least Atlantic Canada...Im just devastated here...If they werent going to come to Halifax my only other (financially-able) option was New Brunswick.
#101 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:33AM by The Clansman 2112 [contact]

Rush in Regina!!!! Cool!! That threw me off a bit since Saskatoon has a better and bigger arena but maybe there are venue conflicts but anyhow who cares. Regina is only a 2 hour drive for me plus I have a place to stay because my brother lives there!!I have to draw his ass to the gig!!!

Anyways I'm pumped!!! ..and remember everyone, Regina is the town that rhymes with fun!!!!
#102 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:35AM by Red Star [contact]

Crusher, if you are using IE... I remember... you go Tools, Options, and there is a button that said "clear cache" or something like that.

For weeks people have been texting and e mailing me dates. I don't know why some get their hopes up knowing half if not more is not going to be true. Today was what I was waiting for. Only thing I am bummed about is the lack of notice on pre-sales being so darn soon. I'll be out of town. Either way...I'll pull off my 10-12 shows somehow...

Ed...YOU ARE THE MAN Brother!
You really deserve a round of applause. You work your ass off at this and we ALL thank you VERY VERY MUCH!

As far as the Atlantic Canadian dates...Keep the faith people. They may add some. But as someone said...It's all about where tickets will sell. I was shocked when I saw Moline IL. They played Rockford IL on T4E or Counterparts...can't remember(2nd largest city in IL) and it was half empty. I'm curious how Moline will do...
#104 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:41AM by crusher87 [contact]

Red Star, thanks, I figured it out - I can see the press release but still can't see the tour dates. I wonder if there are different servers....

Plus, it looks like President Bush will be funding all of us American Rush fans tickets & road trips! Check this out:

Bush considering $800 tax rebate to boost US economy: report

President George W. Bush's administration is considering an individual tax rebate of up to 800 dollars as a short term measure to help boost the sagging US economy, a media report said Friday.

The White House has said Bush would propose policies, not dollar amounts, because details of the plan must be hammered out with the Democratic-controlled Congress.

"Privately, the White House has discussed its support for a tax rebate of as much as 800 dollars for individual taxpayers, more than double the 300 dollar rebate featured in a 2001 effort to spur economic growth," the Wall Street Journal said.
#106 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:42AM by AirGuiTar [contact]

So true, snowdogkh. I've been trying to ignore the whole "they won't sell out in Halifax" because we are very overdue for them to visit the Maritimes. And to hear that Newfoundland was even an option was really uplifting to Maritimers.

But even if this isn't good news to some, I am extremely appreciative of ALL of Ed's work on keeping us all up-to-the-minute on Rush and the '08 Tour. Ever since I stumbled upon this site I have been hitting up countless times a day. You're awesome, man. Thank you!

New here, I was hoping that Memphis would make the cut. Oh well, still have the Big Easy. Hittin' Cooter Browns before the show for one of the best greasy burgers and the largest selection craft and imports beers in New Orleans. RUSH and Beer. It's gonna be a gooooooood weekend. Any of you N.O. goers out there, give a shout...

WTF happened to the Atlantic Canadian dates? This is unbelievable!!! 20+ years since they played Halifax. I never thought I would say this but Rush has changed, it's all about the retirement fund now. why else would they release ANOTHER live CD. And the hardcore fans lap it up, i know, i WAS one of them. No more. Time to move on, I have plenty of music of bands that are willing to play in their own country.

PISSED OFF IN HALIFAX!!!!

... wait. Nissan Pavilion at DC? And Bristow, VA on June 23rd... at the NP? This looks like a mistake. Does anybody know what's going on here?

Does anyone have info on when the Riverbend tickets go on sale? When I pull up Ticketmaster they say no events are scheduled for the venue. LiveNation also does not have any info on this.
#112 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:50AM by redrum78 [contact]

By the way, does anyone suggest a different place other than Ticketmaster to get tickets?

I will be at the dates in Concord and Las Vegas in May. Time to book my transatlantic flights!
#114 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:52AM by Sign_of_Eth [contact]

Yeah, it really sucks being a Rush fan from Atlantic Canada...I was in Grade 7 the last time they were here! I don't know what it takes to get them to come. I'm really disappointed that they aren't visiting at least ONE of the four Atlantic provinces again. Jesus, we had the Rolling Stones here last year at an outdoor venue hosting 50,000 people!
#115 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:52AM by AirGuiTar [contact]

Random...but man, I had no idea there were so many Haligonians on here...we should all get together and go out to Bubble's Mansion sometime :p If you havent been there yet, you're missing out...they even have a 'Cygnus X-1' airstreamer there full of booze.

#119 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:58AM by parrot29 [contact]

Alright, first off please don't take this as sour grapes or whining cause it isn't..well maybe a bit. I like many others were over the moon with the December press release and Atlantic Canada was listed as a spot on the second leg of the S&A 2008 tour. Even this week, it still remained unchanged until this morning. No mention of any dates and logistically no place where they would even fit ( I could be wrong).

I've seen Rush a few times in other cities but only once in my city of Halifax and it's been long overdue. Last time they played here was the Hold Your Fire tour 87-88. We've had lots of big names thru here over the years recently being Pearl Jam (sold out in 30 mins), White Stripes, Rolling Stones, Ozzy (two shows this month) but never a return visit from Rush. I think I'm starting to agree with one of the previous posters, they must have something against this region from a touring perspective.

Now...maybe they might add shows but at this stage it seems unlikely. I really feel bad for the fans that have supported the band over the years with the cd's, dvd's, books, etc to have their hopes dashed once again. Not everyone has the means to travel to shows, I'm fortunate that I can and am still deciding if I will this time around.

I mean really..what's new about this list, Regina? Moline? After that, it all looks like pretty familiar venues and places visited really. Bu then again, it is all about The Big Money.

Have a good day folks.
#120 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:58AM by Sign_of_Eth [contact]

#115 - I've been to Bubbles' many times! Were you there for the Rush S&A cd release party last year? Good times!
#121 - Posted 1/18/08 @9:59AM by AirGuiTar [contact]

Sign_of_Eth, yeah, ever since the Stones concert I have been praying that Mayor Kelly would try to get Rush to be out next big headliner here in Halifax but the thought hasn't even crossed city hall's mind. I think we would have had a bigger chance at getting them here if the effort was made to show them how much we wanted them. Alas, nothing is fair.
#122 - Posted 1/18/08 @10:00AM by JasonB [contact]

It was too good to be true to have Rush in Charlottesville...Rush really needs to avoid that trap that other bands get into: playing the same venues in the same towns.... Maybe they're holding out on a few cities, especially when you think about all the Canadian and S. American cities that were frequently mentioned but not on the tour schedule...
#123 - Posted 1/18/08 @10:00AM by gna2112 [contact]

The day we all have been waiting for has finally come. Three dates here in Florida...woohoo!!!! Now I have to decide which 2 I am going for, Orlando for sure since I live here in the Orlando area. Now the tough decision FTL or JAX, I wish I could go to both, but can't miss that much work..ugh My wife says let's go to all 3, we will take the 3 kids to the Orlando show, then the 2 of us will enjoy one of the other shows. I understand the frustration for all Canada fans, but let's not be nasty towards the guys, let's be thankful they are at least still playing live for all of us to enjoy!! And as always FEEL THE RUSH!!!!!!
#124 - Posted 1/18/08 @10:00AM by Prince Sphinc-Tor [contact]

Ticketmaster already has dates up!!!

First id Orlando with presale staring on 1/28!!!!

Lauderdale, Orlando, and Jax!!!!!

re #114...SIGN_OF_ETH Wrote: "I had no idea there were so many Haligonians on here...we should all get together and go out to Bubble's Mansion" -OR- We get together and let Anthem and Rush know how we feel. As for our local Classic Rock station Q104, they will not help, I tried. They are too busy looking for new AC-DC songs, they don't play them enough, now.
#126 - Posted 1/18/08 @10:01AM by AirGuiTar [contact]

Sign_of_Eth, no! I never even knew about the release party! Though it should have been obvious seeing how huge a fan Mike Smith is :) If you're a Trailer Park Boys fan I was there for the Season 7 Launch party.

ATLANTIC CANADA - SHAFTED AGAIN

NOT 1 DATE, THATS FREEKIN BRUTAL........THEY GOT SHAFTED ON THE R30 TOUR AS WELL.

I REALLY HOPE THAT THEY ANNOUNCE MORE DATES..... IF THEY PLAN ON PLAYING THEIR THEY COULD AT LEAST HAVE DANGLED A CARROT IN FRONT OF THEM EVEN IF THERE IS NOTHING CONCRETE YET.

MANY DIEHARD RUSH FANS IN THE EAST..... AND NOT ONE SHOW.
SO MUCH FOR THE QUEBEC 400TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW AS WELL!

Wow. I'm surprised there's only one Bay Area gig...

So it looks like Concord, CA,
Red Rocks for my birthday,

...and hopefully an S.A. date for the wifey

miki_yyz #109... don't worry, it still could happen...
#129 - Posted 1/18/08 @10:10AM by Sign_of_Eth [contact]

berniecorbett: Yeah, Q104 is pretty hopeless. I'm definitely considering writing something to Anthem; not that I expect change, but just to let them know how I feel. I mean, c'mon, they're going to Uncasville, CT, but not Halifax??
#130 - Posted 1/18/08 @10:14AM by Griffin272 [contact]

Yeah, remember when Q104 used to be...you know, good? Anyway...I'm considering sending off something as well, and I know many people who will probably do the same (even if I have to "convince" them a little :) ).
#131 - Posted 1/18/08 @10:14AM by Pickle58 [contact]

I am rather disappointed about no Halifax date on the tour. Even a date in New Brunswick would have been good. I thought this tour was suppose to be the tour that Rush was gonna go to places they haven't been for a while. I guess the closest us Rush fans in Atlantic Canada are gonna get to seeing a concert here is watching our live rush DVD's.
#132 - Posted 1/18/08 @10:15AM by Mr. Bill [contact]

No Atlantic Canada

This is so sad. First saw them here in Halifax in 1975 opening for Nazareth. Riddle me this: Pearl Jam can sell out in 2 hours. Ozzi sold out in 9 minutes. Yes, 9 minutes. Why our beloved band thinks that this university town (read ROCK town) can't do that for them is beyond me. I am the biggest die hard no one has ever met. Everyday since that first show in '75 Rush have been part of for me. There is no substitute to seeing your band with all your friends live in teh place of your home where it all began. I have waited 20 odd years. The last time (HYF) I peddled my 10 speed to Peggy's Cove to follow Neil just to tell him thanks for everything.

Why Al? Why?

Just pummle me now Mr. Hand ... :(

Your the best Ed and thanks for making teh last 60 days very exciting.

Bill

#136 - Posted 1/18/08 @10:31AM by Sign_of_Eth [contact]

Axe, I imagine that all communication filters through several layers of middle management at Anthem, before it gets to the band (if it does at all).

Here's the Anthem contact email: sro-anthem@sro-anthem.com

Blast away!

axe: You could try contacting Rush's management: SRO/anthem entertainment group. I've been pestering them for the last year to get a Saskatchewan concert (preferably Saskatoon but I'll settle for (cough) Regina) I don't know if it ehlped at all but give them a try!

in 1987 Atlantic Canadian provinces, halifax and Newfoundland did hold several rally's to get them to come and they did, they stared their tour here for hold your fire, but they havent returned since...can we start a petition or soemthing??????
#147 - Posted 1/18/08 @11:13AM by TheHonestMan [contact]

I'm not really sure if this is absolutely necessary, but I thought I would mention it for everyone. If you scroll down the tours dates at rush.com, there is a ! at the bottom. When you click on the link it asks you to register for the fan community. This is most likely for an e-mail notification of the presale only. However, I wouldn't risk it.
#148 - Posted 1/18/08 @11:13AM by STEVE.C [contact]

Just sent an email to jc at q104 not that it will help our cause. I was at that rally years ago to bring Rush to Halifax. SHAME,SHAME!!! Rush are Canadian and they should not ignore one part of this country. SHAME SHAME!!!

Amazing to think that they might never have come at all if we hadn't resorted to a petition! Maybe we need to get Mike Smith (aka Bubbles from the Trailer Park Boys) to be our rally captain.

Hey all, new to this site over the past few months and have been watching.
Fan since 1976 and everything between, you hit the nail on the head, WOW!!!!!!!!!
Looks like 6 shows for me this year, only got 2 on the first leg 07'.
2 in texas, 1 in OK, and 3 in PA, What a RUSH!! and a great way to start a New Year ALL!!
#151 - Posted 1/18/08 @11:18AM by Fito [contact]

I dont understand the guys in the U.S. that are crying because they dont have dates in their backyards. Come on! you have 48 dates in your country! move your little ass some miles for rush.
Here in South America the only time rush was here we have to fly to brazil to see them.
we are the guys who should be pissed off and complaining about this.
#152 - Posted 1/18/08 @11:21AM by LanceTheShred [contact]

Excitement so think you can cut it with a knife!!!!!!!!!!
Hello 2 PA Shows, NJ Show and DC Show. Better hope you are not sitting next to me at any of these venues because you will get hit with arms flying to every song via air drums, air bass, air guitar and air keyboards. Need a side order of Halls Mentholiptus for the sore freakin throat from singing the 2008 set list. Man I am spinning, whirling, still descending, like a spiral sea unending!!!!
Woo hoo hee ha.

My wife says that if I go to more than two Rush concerts this year, she is leaving me. Hmmm, 1-800-CAL-UHAUL????
#153 - Posted 1/18/08 @11:24AM by Alexfan [contact]

I have a buddy who will be very disappointed that there are no Eastern Canada dates.
#154 - Posted 1/18/08 @11:28AM by AirGuiTar [contact]

Maybe we should get Mike Smith and Rick Mercer to lead the rally cry ;)

However, Im having a hard time being angry at Rush for not coming to Atlantic Canada...It's hard to believe that we havent seen them here in 20 years...but what have our major cities done to convince them to come here? Halifax, I couldn't be more disappointed in you...crying over not getting Celin Dion here (oh the drama!), fighting with NB over Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, endless whining over the mess of the Commons after the Stones were here...no wonder we got shafted.

We are a large University town with a huge taste for ROCK and I KNOW we could sell out the Metro Centre for Rush. But man, we have to actually TELL city hall that we want Rush here.

Is it too late do you think? We as a city should have been on the ball.

LanceTheShred you are one hilarious dude. Enjoy the shows! I'll drive the U-Haul for ya!! hahahaha

Thank you Ed! I'm curious - does anyone know how much it might be to be in the first 5 rows at Red Rocks? Also, is it a far drive from Boise? Thanks!

Is it me, or are there others getting irritated over not yet receiving an e-mail?

Just one show in LA is puzzling, as this Nokia place doesn't have the capacity of the Bowl or Staples. Oh well,
I think Staples sucks for shows anyway (fell asleep through fatigue during the last Stones show there). so its time give Nokia a fair shot....

woo hoo! now we can all start planning. i for sure will see you in red rocks (hopefully you will come with hotel toiletries in hand... more details on the rush to fight AIDS in a bit)...

and spin, looks like i might make it to the gorge after all. IF i am able to swing another trip, it's between gorge and vegas. gorge has better timing for me... so i just might pull it off :) we'll see how it plays out--glad that one isn't going on sale yet.

a show of hands for red rocks??

Question re: Dallas;
Rush.com says venue is "Music Center at Fair Park"...
TicketMaster says Smirnoff Music Center...

My bet is that Rush.com is correct. Does anyone have info about this venue? Tough to tell any details from their site this morning.

Thanks all.

...and once again, Great site Ed.

Has anyone who is registered with MUSICTODAY heard anything from them on the presale?

I have not and I'm just excited and impatient and want to get any info on the presale thay have to offer.

I went through the MUSICTODAY presale last year and it was kinda slow and crowded. I got 3rd row for one show...like 25th for another, but didn't try to get tickets again after that.

With there being the the MUSICTODAY presale, the Ticketbastard presale, and the the regular sale I was wondering if anyone had an opion, or experience on when to get the best tickets.

Not to mention I went to ticketmaster on the days of some shows I wasn't going to, (Cleveland I seem to remember) just to get an idea of what was released just before the show and was AMAZED to see first 5 rows seats as well as FRONT ROW available!!!

Decisions, decisions.....

waaaaaa....no jpj in charlottesville va. at least there's nissan pavilion in dc and verizon in charlotte nc. back to back, but that's ok with me!!! maybe they'll announce a late date for charlottesville (wishful thinking) like they did last year for madison square garden. i actually wouldn't mind seeing them again at msg...that place rocked!!! at any rate - yippee! rush is still touring!
#163 - Posted 1/18/08 @12:08PM by Spindrifter [contact]

This morning, I drove my wife to work and dropped her off, turned on my mp3 and cranked it a little. My 3 little girls (all under 7) were rocking their asses off to 'FC'!

Its a sight that makes this father very proud and a awesome way to start off the weekend.

Just read the official bit. And am stoked!

Another leg, more shows, another 'live' album, another once in a lifetime experiance of the Mighty Trio and yet another round of applause!

Little do we Rushheads realize it.... We've are spoiled by the greatest f'ing band!

Although, I think its kinda funny that they are back-tracking from the 1st leg.

Wheres Jeeeeeeeeed???????????????

JayTee, 2 shows + am gonna fight tooth n nail for the RR show.... I promised my son a road tripper. And RR would be the place and I think that it might work out!

necromancer 2112, thank-you. Im just trying to look for some answers...although I wasn't really around the last time Rush came here for the HYF Tour (Im only 22...) Im just so shocked that they haven't been here since. It's just so devastating (even moreso for you long time fans who have been waiting and waiting...).

Though as luck did have it I managed to see them for the very first time last year in Montreal. It was the greatest experience of my life, one which I was hoping to relive again. Unfortunately Im a poor just-out-of-University student with no transportation who can't get back to Montreal to see them again this time. Though I must say the new Documentary & Live CD almost makes up for it.

The Battle's over and the dust is clearing...actually now the real battle begins, the quest for tickets!! Now I can be excited!! Rush in my backyard once again!! I hope Albuquerque rises to the occassion and gives Rush the welcome they deserve. Now time to decide which shows to attend. I truly feel bad for those who are upset, but please remember it is not the band who makes all the decisions...it is management and promoters.

Great to see Light Years back in the fold(great to hear from you)...Spin and others...let the fun begin!!\

Endlessly Rocking!

Ooh you lucky North Americans.

I've read quite a few gripes about towns being missed and areas being snubbed. The whole of Europe is being missed -AGAIN, so the gripers should stop griping, get over it and plan a little excursion. At least they're playing on your continent!:-)

No South American dates announced yet - maybe they are trying to co-ordinate them with some European shows? Oh well, a guy can dream.

Thank goodness for dvds.

Ah, I knew that you'd show up! Lol! Congrats to you, your family and the rest of those going to the Albuquerque show. It paid off as you worked your angels to the PA show!

As for those that are upset.... Dont forget that the boys gave us the list before the first leg, then after a few shows they added a few more to the list as well.

So, dont give up the 'Hope' without having 'Hope'!

Btw, yes it was great to see LYA back in the fold. Guess that she was hilarously frightened by 'blow up dolls'! Lol!

So, what's the best way to get front row tickets? I had 4th row last time, which were the closest I could buy via auction on Ticketmaster. I'm sure the first three rows are reserved for various sponsors, but if there's a way to crack the front row, I'd sure love to hear from other Rush fans. I'm willing to pay, if reasonable, but most of the best seats are scooped up by brokers and sold for ridiculous prices. How do they get these seats to begin with? If anybody hears about an early Phoenix presale, please post. I can't wait for this tour!

Hello, I am a Brazilian fan and would like to know if it has some indication of that the Brazil is in the route of Snakes & Arrows tour?
Thanks.
#173 - Posted 1/18/08 @1:29PM by Fiat [contact]

Summerfest in Mil? This is unusual.

First of all- I am way psyched and will be hitting two shows minimum.

Now--

Don't get me wrong but Neil is has some explaining to do on his principled stand about touring.

I hate to say it but this is looking like they have gotten some "religion" (pardon the S&A pun) about the clock that is tickin and the touring time remaining. Again, I'm in for what ever but let's call it like it is.
#174 - Posted 1/18/08 @1:36PM by lscottl [contact]

Hello ALL,

I didn't get an email from rush.com today. So how do I find out the 'presale password' so I can buy early. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

andrefg- i know that south american dates were discussed when it was originally announced that they would be doing a 2008 leg of tour,so don't give up hope!! i think the south american dates probably just haven't been finalized yet!! they had such a great experience during the "vapor trails" tour that i'm sure they would love to return to brazil!! hang in there!!

Snow #171

The only way I've been able to crack the front row is to pay those dreaded brokers. I saw RUSH twice last year, once from the 3rd row, once from the 2nd, and paid handsomely both times. I've given up on trying to score these types of seats through Ticketmaster. During the Rush.com presale last year I bought some tix at 10:00am on the dot, and STILL got stuck in the nosebleeds. But lo and behold, I go and check sites like Stubhub, and all the floor seats are there.

I don't know how they score these tickets, even before a fan presale like Rush.com has, but I'd like to know... some of the prices I paid for a $90 show made me feel like I was in the wrong line of work!!
#185 - Posted 1/18/08 @2:03PM by dreww76 [contact]

Where are the tickets for the 4/17/08 Jacksonville show being sold at?
Ticket master and Live nation have no mention of that date.
Any help would be appreciated.

#186 - Posted 1/18/08 @2:06PM by primemover_3 [contact]

Some more info for Snowdog and everybody....

If you're going to buy tix through a broker, don't buy them right away. The prices will fall dramatically the closer the dates get to the show day. Of course, you could lose the tix you want if you wait too long...
#187 - Posted 1/18/08 @2:29PM by Snowdog2112 [contact]

Thanks for the info Prime! I haven't seen the boys from the front row since the HYF tour in '88, which was back in the open floor general admission days. I'm too old to fight for the front row these day, so I suppose paying through the nose for tickets is probably an advantage for some. However, I hate paying a broker. Maybe I'll get lucky with the presale. Good luck to everyone on their quest for tickets!

Snowdog
#188 - Posted 1/18/08 @2:39PM by primemover_3 [contact]

Snowdog-

I hate paying them too, but my love for RUSH always trumps my good economic practices!!

I've also heard that the choice tix remaining that do not get sold go back into the venue's possession a little before showtimeand you can buy them at the box office right there at the venue. Haven't tried this method yet, but it does have a grain of logic to it. My guess is that the super good seating (rows 1-5) would still be gone, though...

Good luck to you on the ticket hunt!!!
#189 - Posted 1/18/08 @2:43PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Snowdog..... Whats general admission? Lol!

Sorry... Just had to ask with the way tix prices are. Will never hear me complain about forking down $120 or so for our Mighty Trio!

Btw, a gentle hand offers gentleness across the pond. Liver, I am sorry to see that the boys wont be coming your way again this leg. But, we all know that the boys are not done just yet!
#190 - Posted 1/18/08 @2:48PM by primemover_3 [contact]

What's up, Spin.

Doesn't look like I'll be heading up North. Might do the Red Rocks on my birthday. Still waiting to see if those SA dates are going to materialize, want to take my sig other there for vacation... and treat myself to a RUSH show. What better way to spend vacation, right? :)
#191 - Posted 1/18/08 @4:30PM by Snowdog2112 [contact]

Prime, I hear you regarding the good economics v. love of the band. I forked out $800 for two 4th row center tickets last year, and I suppose I'll probably do the same this time, if it comes down to it. I've heard about front row tickets being released the day of the show, but by that time, it's always a moot point for myself.

Spin: general admission for less than $20, now those were the days, huh. I'd be ecstatic with a $120 ticket, too, but who knows, maybe we'll get lucky.
#192 - Posted 1/18/08 @4:31PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Prime.... Sup man! Whatta day its been!

Am hoping to swing into RR. But, both of my boys are graduating from high school on the 14th. So, the wifey and I need to talk things through!

Its a trip of a lifetime if you go see Rush. Whether its cross country, 2 or 48 hour drive or if its in your backyard.... Gotta make every second count!

Am kinda stumped to see one show in the Bay Area, though!

Btw, just got my e from Rush.com telling that they'll be announcing the tour today at 8am. Its now, um, err... 1:30pm.

I say all Atlantic Canadians petition Anthem management and the group for dates in August as they return for the Quebec show. The region is long overdue and a call to arms is required! Who knows if they ever will come unless we make our voices heard. Call your local radio, use facebook, email Anthem, organize, make your voices heard!!

As happy as I am to see Rush returning to Colorado this year, I can't help but have a bit of reservation regarding these 2008 dates. I've been a fan since '92 (Roll The Bones Tour) and I can't remember a time when Rush toured two summers in a row. I find this particulary strange when considering Neil's well-known and vocal dislike towards touring. I know that there are always the rumors and speculations that every tour could be the last. However, I can't help but wonder this givin the strange circumstances surrounding the S & A tour. Any other thoughts as to why Rush would be playing all these US venues again? Do they really need the money?
#200 - Posted 1/19/08 @1:08AM by Mr. Bill [contact]

I still can't believe this. Its like a bad dream.

Ed, your AtCan explanations seems logical enough, but dude, call a spade a spade. At the end of the day its called poor planning. At this stage in their career it should be about priorities and injustices.

I'm happy for everyone who landed a show. They are my Rush brothers and sisters. How could I possibly not be happy for them? For Winnipeg, Regina, San Juan, etc. I am especially happy.

The spirit will never die in me, but..the pain in my gut won't go away...
#201 - Posted 1/19/08 @8:29AM by NSRUSHFAN [contact]

Like everyone else in Atlantic Canada I am disappointed with this tour announcement after all the hype about going to places they haven't been in a while. I saw both the R30 and the Snakes and Arrows tours but I had to fly to Montreal at considerable expense to do so. I consider myself fortunate to have been able to see them but I feel badly and disappointed for the large number of fans who love Rush in this neck of the woods who are unable to travel to see them.
I don't blame the guys in the band for this. I had the opportunity to meet Alex Lifeson in the Summer of 2006, after they had recorded about half the tracks on S & A and he told me they hoped to get down this way again. He is an incredibly nice and humble guy and cares alot about Rush fans. To me the blame lays squarely on their management at SRO who have not seen fit to have a stop here since 1988. After being screwed by their tour managers on a continuous basis since 88 I can say that I'm disappointed but not suprised. Hopefully they'll announce more dates in June or August but I won't hold my breath.
Its not all bad here as both Ozzy and Johnny Winter are in Halifax for sold out shows this coming week.
#202 - Posted 1/19/08 @8:52AM by Mr. Bill [contact]

Hey NSRUSHFAN...

What can we do here? I don't put the blame on the guys either. Apparently they all have friends and ties to this area. Neil even had dreams of Halifax in GR! Halifax is full of grass roots and passionate music fans. Even Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder and van Morrison found their way here in the last 15 years or so. What if we asked sweet Ellen Page to give them her best puppy dog eyes? What if we asked Sidney Crosby to threaten a body chcek? What if we asked Mike Smith to get the nunchucks out? What if we asked Sarah McLachlan to do back up on Time Stand Still? What if we asked The Trews to play The Camera Eye for them seeing how they are not apparently up to it?

Al, Geddy, Neil...we really really wanted you to play here. We would have given you a reception you hadn't seen in a while. Ask Eddie Vedder. He was blown away...

Does anyone know how the presale works with AMEX and MUSICTODAY? Looks like AC will be an AMEX presale. Does anyone know if MUSICTODAY will also join in? Not noted on the list. Ticketmaster only has AMEX listed. Seems strange that they would team up with AMEX, the card of the wealthy elite, when the "Working man" goes to the shows!! Had no problems with the presale last time at the Tweeter center in Camden! Now you have to pay $125 a year for a card to get presale tickets!! Will the fleecing never end!!!
