Rush 2008 Snakes & Arrows tour update
Posted at 9:25PM | comments (363)

Rush Snakes & Arrows TourUPDATE - 1/18@7:37AM: I know I said I wouldn't make any more updates but... Dates are starting to pop up on Ticketmaster. That Pittsburgh show is going to happen on July 2nd. It also looks like January 26th will be the date the first round of tickets go on sale; this is the case for the Detroit show with pre-sales beginning on the Tuesday Monday prior (Jan. 21).

UPDATE - 1/18@12:03AM: It's official - Rush.com sent out an email. The dates will be announced tomorrow at 8AM. I have a post up where I'll put the official dates when we get them. I'll stop updating this post now. But before I do... I have one last update. The Milwaukee date is on but it will be at the Marcus Amphitheater instead of the US Cellular Arena and will take place on June 27th. Thanks to dcd2112 for the heads up.

UPDATE - 1/17@9:40PM: Ticketmaster now has info for the St. Louis show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. They have it set for June 28th with tickets on sale March 1st. Thanks to Tom for the heads up.

UPDATE - 1/17@9:02PM: I have a tentative date of July 9th for the Toronto show at the Molson Amphitheater. It may change but it should be thereabouts at least. Thanks dinorushman for the info!

UPDATE - 1/17@2:33PM: Here is a hidden livenation link for the Albuquerque show that reader Bruce dug up. It lists the on-sale date as Saturday, Feb. 2 at 10AM and also has information for a radio-sponsored pre-sale through KZRR. This tells me that they may have delayed the date for the first round of ticket sales to Saturday February 2nd rather than January 26th. This would not surprise me at all in light of all the other delays. It's looking more and more likely that tomorrow will be the big day for the tour announcement.

UPDATE - 1/17@10:09AM: Several more dates! It's starting to all come together. The Dallas show at Smirnoff is a go and will occur on April 25th. Also a go is the Reno Events Center show; it will happen on May 3rd. The Gorge show will be on May 31st, the Clark County Amphitheater show will be on June 1st, Red Rocks on June 5th, the Verizon Wireless show in Manchester on July 11th, the Philadelphia show at Wachovia on June 14th, and the Hersheypark Stadium show will be on July 17th. Many thanks to dinorushman for the info.

UPDATE - 1/16@9:41PM: Ok. I managed to confuse myself. There are just too damn many Verizon Wireless Arenas! There is no Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, MA - it's in Manchester, NH... and it's not pending. :) Thanks to Jack for pointing it out.

UPDATE - 1/16@9:32PM: The Manchester, NH date should be in the pending column; I'd just forgotten it yesterday. One note on when tickets go on sale. They won't all go on sale January 26th; just the first batch of dates. Pre-sales typically occur the week prior. If the fan pre-sale works like it did last time, it will occur on the Tuesday prior to tickets going on sale. Then there may also be a Ticketmaster and/or AMEX pre-sale a day or two prior.

UPDATE - 1/16@5:05PM: OOPS! Meant May 11th for the Irvine show... fat fingers.

UPDATE - 1/16@4:40PM: The Irvine show will occur on May 15th 11th and the LA show has been moved to pending for the time being.

UPDATE - 1/16@1:36PM: WAAF out of Boston is listing the Tweeter Center show as happening on June 15th (thanks Cindy). I also have another pending date to report; the Constellation Performing Arts Center (CMAC) in Rochester, NY (thanks Scott).

UPDATE - 1/16@9:58AM: I'd forgotten to add the SPAC in Saratoga Springs to the pending list. I also wanted to clear up some confusion on something related to this venue. On their website, they still have a rotating image banner up from last summer on their concerts page which shows the June 30, 2007 Rush show. This banner is outdated; they really need to take it down. It appears that they might do a show there this summer but it will not be on June 30th.

Hopefully this will be my last post before the release of the official tour dates. Still no news on when that will occur though; it could be any minute now (or a couple days from now). I've shuffled and reorganized my list a bit, splitting out the Canadian and South American venues, which haven't really changed much at all. Where the picture is the most fuzzy is with the US dates, especially in the East and Midwest. It appears that most of the US venues are shifting to favor the outdoor sheds. The St. Louis show looks like it will now take place at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre rather than the Scottrade Center. The Boston show has moved from TD Banknorth Garden to the Tweeter Center and/or . The Hershey, PA show will be at the Hersheypark Stadium Star Pavilion rather than the Giant Center.

I've also received a lot of new pending venues, most of which are outdoor facilities. New to the list are the Reno Events Center in Reno, NV; the Bank Atlantic Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL; the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, MA; the Post Gazette Pavilion in Pittsburgh, PA; the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Indianapolis, IN; the i Wireless Center in Moline, IL; the Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord, CA; the Nissan Pavilion in Washington D.C.; and the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN. I'm also moving some dates from the regular venue list into the pending column because I've received conflicting information; Columbus, Oakland, Hartford, Charlottesville and Austin. All 5 of these are indoor venues and I suspect they may have been dropped in favor of some outdoor sheds.

I apologize for the fuzzy nature of things. There are an unusually large number of venue holds in place for the tour and the South American dates moving from May to August really threw a wrench into things. We'll see how accurate this information turns out to be soon enough. More as I learn it...

first?

Congratulations, primemover. You are 1st. Let's talk Rush. And also outdoor sheds. Looks like there are some more pending dates. Good for me. It looks like they may come back to Indy, afterall!!! :) Where would Rushisaband people wanna see Rush? Arenas or Outdoor Sheds?
#4 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:35PM by sth2112 [contact]

hmm, good question, probably outdoors but ive never seen them indoors so that would be a good expperience.
#5 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:37PM by lampkins69 [contact]

Crossing my lil fingers that Milwaukee is one of the dates.
#6 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:40PM by primemover_3 [contact]

Thanx, coolphan...
Yes, let's...
If Oakland is pending, that means they're gonna play in Mountain View again at the Shoreline. That's not good news for us in the Bay Area. The good news (first) is that they're adding Concord (Sleep Train Pavillion), but it's also another shed. I really hope they at least do the Oracle Arena instead of the Shoreline...

But does it really matter? :)
I mean, RUSH is touring in 2008! Wooo!
I'll be at both shows anyway, indoor or outdoor!!
#7 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:42PM by jmreidfo [contact]

I see Indy in the works but can't see how that could be...Verizon Wireless is supposed to have been shut down after LAST summer (??)

Anyone know if that's certain or not?
#8 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:44PM by coolphantom190 [contact]

True, jmreidfo. I have only seen Rush at the Indy concert in August. Just curious jmreidfo, where did you sit???
#9 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:47PM by Prince Sphinc-Tor

Does anyone know anything about when the pre-sale might start or if there is even going to be pre-sale?
#10 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:51PM by primemover_3 [contact]

I think the pre-sale, if everything goes according to plan, will be the 26th. Tix supposed to be 'officially' on sale March 1st...
#11 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:52PM by jmreidfo [contact]

coolphantom,

Go to the Indy show (08/26/07) postings on this site. I've got pics and vids submitted for your approval!!!!!!!

I was first couple rows, second section to the left (if you're facing the stage).

I laughed and defied the camera Nazi's!!!

P.S. The video Rush has on their site of the chef "bastin'the chickens" happened at the Indy show (I was wonderin' what was up with that dude with the camera).

Did you by any chance catch that? Would be kickin' to see them back in Indy but it was a helluva haul from Evansville!!!
#12 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:54PM by jmreidfo [contact]

I personally would love for the tour announcements to happen on my 40th birthday (January 18th)!!!!!!!!

That is a kickass present itself...I know I'm in for the St. Lou show...
#13 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:56PM by coolphantom190 [contact]

Yeah, jmreidfo. I noticed the video on the RUSH website too. Awesome concert. Magical. Do you wanna talk about the Indy concert, jmredifo, in the General Discussion section for that concert??? Thanks.
#14 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:58PM by jmreidfo [contact]

I'm so there...anyone else want to join? I'll bring the beer...lol
#15 - Posted 1/15/08 @9:58PM by sth2112 [contact]

Prime,
i thought regular ticks were going on sale the 26th. arent they?
#16 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:03PM by Prince Sphinc-Tor

Thanks Prime...the last year when the presale started the power went out in my neighborhood...I had to race to a friends who still had power but I still got 3rd row (and snuck down to the front row during the second set!!!)
#17 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:04PM by Nettie [contact]

#5 Ditto
But it doesn't look likely if the dates are right.
#18 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:05PM by primemover_3 [contact]

sth-
I really hope not. The pre sale last year was done 3 days before they went on sale to the gen public... maybe the pre sale will be on the 23rd. Guess we'll know soon enough from Rush.com...
#19 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:06PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Ugh, thought that I heard someone say the word, 'beer'! Lol!

This week seems to be grinding by slowly as we continue to wait for this schmuck to push the red button. Hmm, I wonder who it is.
#20 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:09PM by sth2112 [contact]

prime,
ya i geuss we will, hopefully sooner then later though.
I'm geussing they'll tell us sometime tomorrow, latest will be thursday.
#21 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:11PM by TheHonestMan [contact]

NOOOOOOO! Scottrade Center in St. Louis was probably going to have general admission floor. now all teh good seats will be really expensive.
#22 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:14PM by jmreidfo [contact]

I'm back, coolphan had to go...

How is Scottrade to see a concert (seen hockey there though)?
#23 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:18PM by towhee [contact]

Did everyone signed up get the Rush.com email? I'm signed up, but didn't receive it.
#24 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:22PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Ed, I would like to take a minute and toss out a HUGE 'THANK YOU' for all of the hard work that you've done and continue to do for your fellow Rushheads.

All in all... We may be joined as Rush fans. But, little did you know or realize, you've got a HUGE bandwagon of fans as well in us RIAB'ers!

Keep up the awesome work man!
#25 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:23PM by primemover_3 [contact]

yeah, towhee I didn't receive an email from Rush.com either.

what up Spin!
#26 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:26PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Heyya Prime, am just about ready to sit down and have din-din and watch some show called American Idol where people compete to try to match Geds voice and looks. Wont happen! Lol!

U heading north for a show. If so, toss me an e!

Will check in every now and then through the night!

Keep it Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuussssssssssshhhhhhhhhh! Ugh, I strained my voice there. Lol!
#27 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:30PM by Bravest Face

Towhee, I think based upon the responses, there were many of us who thought they were signed up on rush.com who did not receive an email. This makes me wonder exactly how these emails were distributed. I just checked me e a few moments ago and no emails of the sort.

If it wasn't for the fact that the actual rush.com site says mid January I would seriously be questionning whether we will hear anything in the next few days. Okay, okay, it is my skeptical, cynical nature I suppose. I just don't know if I can wait any longer! lol!!
#28 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:30PM by sully_digs [contact]

I see Indy in the works but can't see how that could be...Verizon Wireless is supposed to have been shut down after LAST summer (??)

Anyone know if that's certain or not?

I do not believe that is true. It was for sale last year but was removed from the market. I can make a call Wednesday and confirm for sure.
I plan on sitting in the VIP section with the same 7 friends as last August.

WOW!!
#29 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:32PM by Bravest Face

Spin, I always forget you are three hours behind as I get ready for bed and here 11pm approaches and you speak of dinner and American Idol! lol!! I am proud to say I have never watched that show! None of them sounds like Ged that's for sure! lol!!

This will be it for me tonight, so hopefully tomorrow there will be something official!
#30 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:33PM by sully_digs [contact]

Indy already has a show booked at the VWMC in Nobelsville.
#31 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:33PM by Bravest Face

Sully, I see what you are saying, I hadn't even noticed Indy until you pointed it out. I was under the impression that Verizon is no more as well! Interesting!
#32 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:37PM by jmreidfo [contact]

Kickin'!!! Indy is back then...!

I'm gettin' EVEN better seats this next time around...

sully, thx for the link
#33 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:38PM by sully_digs [contact]

One big problem at last summers show was the security people. Most of them bullied themselves at anyone that appeared to be getting into the music, standing up (DUH, what do you do at a concert) or being loud during intermission. A friend of mine was told he wasnt welcomed in the so called VIP bar area, which was between the theater and the parking lot. Oh, and VIP parking gets you a ride in a golf cart while you park in cow shit.
But still it was a great night............

I lost it when Alex hit the chords to Bangkok...
#34 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:40PM by Bravest Face

Sully,

I have to agree with you about the security. It seemed a little over zealous compared to some of the other shows.
#35 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:40PM by sully_digs [contact]

towhee -

I have not received an email from rush.com either. I am registered under personal and work email addresses. Yet to receive a thing. Maybe geographics has something to do with how they are being sent out.
#36 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:48PM by sully_digs [contact]

More events scheduled for Indy at the VWMC in 08.

So there are a total of 4 dates that can be scratched for RUSH.
#37 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:50PM by towhee [contact]

Interesting to hear that many others have also not received the rush.com email. I have not been involved in a pre-sale before - but would like to this time, of course! I wondered if you had to get an "invitation" from rush.com for that, or how it works. Can someone enlighten me?
#38 - Posted 1/15/08 @10:55PM by LaVilla_Sean [contact]

Man I hope Ft Liquordale as a possible is true! Just 15 mins from home. Who's in?
#39 - Posted 1/15/08 @11:04PM by dman2332 [contact]

jmreidfo, my birthday is also on friday (#20). Who could ask for a better gift from the greatest band on earth. How about a kick ass show to follow up last year's?

Long live Rush
#40 - Posted 1/15/08 @11:43PM by The Clansman 2112 [contact]

I see the tour is tentativily to start on April 11th. Well at least Geddy can catch the home opening weekend of the Jays; one week before that, as they host the World Champion Boston Red Sox.

Will at least see him once this year behind Home Plate!!!
#41 - Posted 1/15/08 @11:52PM by tripinva [contact]

No, Rush, please don't drop Charlottesville! I go to school here and it's so much more convenient to come here than Raleigh!
#42 - Posted 1/16/08 @12:21AM by Jerimiah40 [contact]

Man, I've been on pins and needles ever since they announced Winnipeg. At least it's never been in doubt... that might be more than I could take. :P

Waiting for dates though... man, I haven't been sleeping nearly enough.
#43 - Posted 1/16/08 @1:36AM by xanadurush [contact]

Okay - thanks for the update Ed - now we can rest for awhile :)
#44 - Posted 1/16/08 @2:04AM by lateralus [contact]

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! The Hersheypark Stadium Star Pavilion BLOWS, not to mention it will be 90 degrees plus outside at that time of the year! Heck I'm not even sure they have seats, it might be a general admission concert.
This really makes me question whether I will even go to the concert.
#45 - Posted 1/16/08 @2:10AM by lateralus [contact]

As for the email, I got 7 of the same email from Rush.com in my email box so yes; they were having issues.
#46 - Posted 1/16/08 @2:21AM by sully_digs [contact]

ON THE RUN AGAIN IN 2008

Still waiting.......and waiting.........

RUSH.com hello.........
#47 - Posted 1/16/08 @4:09AM by Weezy [contact]

Seems like an awful lot of changes to venues, etc. at the last minute. How can it be pulled off for an official release that soon? Plus, where do you reckon a Ft. Laud date would fit in to the Florida dates already shown?
#48 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:04AM by GooseRider [contact]

Hey guys!

Just wanted to let you know that the suspense/excitement has reached right across the Atlantic. Waiting on confirmation so I can arrange travel from Ireland to the Toronto show. Life-long dream about to come true...?
#49 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:50AM by Drea [contact]

I got the pre-sale email last time but I haven't gotten anything since them announcing the extension of the tour. I tried signing up for the newsletter again and they said I already exist. I hope they have a pre-sale...it's gonna be tight with only one show in Ontario!
#50 - Posted 1/16/08 @8:21AM by nposter63 [contact]

Im thinking that the email from RUSH.com has something to do with the backstage club web site. I received the same email no less than 7 or 8 times in the past 2 days.

Im sure I have ordered from the backstage club at least that many times since VT. Just a thought.

Also wanted to throw out a thank you to Ed. Lotsa work for all of us. Can you ever remember a tour where the dates were so heightened before the release? This is all kind of silly dont you think........
#51 - Posted 1/16/08 @8:48AM by jensawyer [contact]

I hope the Pittsburgh date comes true! The Post Gazette Pavilion is practically a hop, skip and a jump away from me!

Thanks for all of the updates Ed. I would be going crazy trying to keep everything straight.
#52 - Posted 1/16/08 @8:57AM by sully_digs [contact]

I found the email from RUSH.com
For whatever reason it went to my junk mail folder which tells me the heading has been altered. Never has it gone there before. Anyway, Sully will be waiting for the big news!

In 2008 I want to hear more La Villa (Cow Bell)
#53 - Posted 1/16/08 @9:09AM by Patrix [contact]

Hopefully waiting for date at Buenos Aires, Argentina. What takes them so long? Times go by, so slowly (Veronica Ciccone said) jeje

oh man, the suspense is too much. i'm at the point in college where i need to get an internship, and that means i might not be in st. louis over the summer. the only problem is that i don't know where i'll be until after i buy tickets. on second thought, RUSH wins over any internship.
#55 - Posted 1/16/08 @9:25AM by WORKING_woMAN [contact]

tripinva...i agree-pleeeeeezzzzzz don't drop charlottesville. i've lived here all my life and rush coming to jpj arena would renew my faith in this town that it's still got some taste!!!! also, if they do come to nissan pavilion near dc, that's a real easy trip from cville - less than 2 hours on 29 north. that's a nice venue. i've seen them there a few times. well...it's all over but the waiting - and waiting...aaarrrggg!!!
#56 - Posted 1/16/08 @9:27AM by Michael Senyo [contact]

I didn't get the e-mail, in either box. I went back to the site to make sure I was still registered, and it said I was. Maybe is miseed it from my bulk box. At any rate, I wouldn't expect a full announcement until each and every venue and date is set.

Truly, the suspense is titilating, not to mention the paranoia over getting a shot at good seats.

Hope all are well.

Thank You San Diego!

Your lack of enthusiasm and reserved manner at past concerts has not secured a date on the next Rush tour. Not to demean the true die hard fans here in America's Finest City, because there are many, but for the most part, (and I know this from attending concerts in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Irvine, where I did not sit once in three hours,)San Diego rush fans are boring!

Good morning, all.

Just lurking...waiting

Hey there,
Just an FYI - The Hartford venue is an outdoor place, the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville is indoors and it sucks. I am hoping for Hartford as it is larger, better sight lines, better chance for good tickets.
#61 - Posted 1/16/08 @10:45AM by Michael Senyo [contact]

Anyone from So Cal been to this Nokia place? I'm too lazy to check their website.

#62 - Posted 1/16/08 @10:57AM by redrum78 [contact]

Nasamike-
I felt the same way about the Marysville/Concord show. It was too quiet and people were actually getting mad at me for standing up. I'm thinking of trying out the Shoreline this time around, although I'm wondering which venue in Cali will have the most energy this time around. It definatly wasn't where I was.

Right On.......3 shows on the first leg Phx., Sacto., and Columbus for an overnighter....Now hopefully at least 3 more with Phx, Vegas, and Reno? The boys have not been in Reno since 1992......Nothing like a full year bender of RUSH
#65 - Posted 1/16/08 @11:04AM by miki_yyz

This waiting is killing me!!! These days I can't listen Rush, because every song that I listen, immediately I'm imagining that I'll be in a Rush concert but the official list is not yet :(

Necro,(#63) damn right! lol!! The only time I sit down at a Rush show is during intermission! By the way, just sent you an e a little bit ago.
#69 - Posted 1/16/08 @11:29AM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

bf-you got that right!! i don't even take a bathroom break, too afraid i will miss something,so i make sure i drain everything before showtime!! lol
#70 - Posted 1/16/08 @11:39AM by Bravest Face

Necro, that's difficult if you drink a few beers though! lol!!
#71 - Posted 1/16/08 @11:44AM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

lol,no pain,no gain bf!! i will tie a knot in it rather than miss a rush song!! lol of course, now that they do an intermission that helps, but it hasn't been an issue yet!! lol
#72 - Posted 1/16/08 @12:02PM by tripinva [contact]

Bleh, I really want to go to Charlottesville for this show... if not, Raleigh is much closer to where I actually live than DC is (it's still more than 2 hours away to Raleigh, whereas Charlottesville is an hour and 45).

My hopes are all up already too, please don't crush them Rush!
#73 - Posted 1/16/08 @12:03PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Top of the morn' all!

Nec, you got me saying 'Yike-O's' if you tie a knot in it!

Ugh, still no sight of the red button pusher. Am waiting to shit grin at the thought of 'On The Run Again'!

Anyone up to a game of Scrabble while we wait? Lol! Ed, now that you boarded up the pub... How about a little rec center with a pool, weights and some tables to play board games. Lol!
#74 - Posted 1/16/08 @12:12PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

it's all good in the name of rush, spin!! lol won't let a little thing like bladder control interfere with me and my favorite band!! lol we rush fans will do anything for our band!!
#75 - Posted 1/16/08 @12:16PM by iluvgeddy05 [contact]

SPAC usually doesn't update their webpage until the full list of concerts comes out, later this winter/early spring. I think the banner is for shows that have been to SPAC before to advertise "Hey, we get cool acts here" which if you're from the upstate NY area and surrounding, you already knew. The only acts they know dates for well in advance and say so are the Jazz Festival and the ballet (usually).

OHHh I hope the SPAC date happens! It's possibly the only way I will get the see them this time around on the tour!
#76 - Posted 1/16/08 @12:24PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Nec, of course we'll do anything for our band. Umm, shall we go hunting for the red button pusher? Lol!

I'm going crazy with drool foaming at the side of my mouth awaiting, anything! I've promised my 17 year old son that we are in a road trip and I still have 3 little girls that want to go!

So, am keeping my fingers crossed of 2-3 shows this time around.
#77 - Posted 1/16/08 @12:31PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

sounds like you are going to have your hands full, spin!! lol
#78 - Posted 1/16/08 @12:41PM by scottc [contact]

#80 - Posted 1/16/08 @12:48PM by Spindrifter [contact]

#77 ~ Yuppers and I dont think that I can get the wifey to go to help with the girls. Ugh!

#78 ~ I've been listening to my White River boot and it only pumps me up to hit F5 on Livenation, Ticketbashers and Rush.com
#81 - Posted 1/16/08 @1:14PM by permanentwaves [contact]

Talk of another show in the Bay Area(Concord)and Reno means three shows within driving range. The second summer of RUSH in a row. Nice!
#82 - Posted 1/16/08 @1:17PM by ashley [contact]

For what it's worth, a friend of mine called JPJ in C'ville VA about Springsteen tickets for April (which is sold out)..He asked the ticket person about Rush and according to him "she said no dates or prices yet, but that they were definitely coming..she kept emphasizing the word definite...but all these things are mysteries to me...you never know until you know." Nissan Pavailion would be good too, but for those of us in Richmond, the Va Bch Ampitheater is closer.
#83 - Posted 1/16/08 @1:28PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

wow, tight race between "exit stage left" and "rush in rio" in ed's poll!
#84 - Posted 1/16/08 @1:31PM by Bravest Face

Necro, I just added another vote for RIR! I know you really like ESL, and it is good, but RIR is definitely my fav! I think more than any other, it gives me the feeling that I am at a live show!
#85 - Posted 1/16/08 @1:31PM by Lerxstdog [contact]

I live in Columbus and anxiously await news on the venue. Our "shed" is by and large closed for good. It's a really hot area for commercial development and the word is they are going to tear down the venue.

So, that's why the Schottenstein Center (or even Nationwide Arena) are possibilities. Our largest outdoor venue (if the above is true) is downtown and seats about 4,000.

Frankly, I would prefer to see them indoors again.
#86 - Posted 1/16/08 @1:49PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

bf- i think it is appropriate that they are both tied because i also really like RIR but for different reasons!! the setlist for exit stage left is awesome(every song is a classic) and i guess it takes me back to my very first concert during the moving pictures tour!! that is the rush of my youth, perfectly captured on film, too bad they didn't film the whole concert though!! RIR also has a great setlist, the crowd is phenominal, the playing is spectacular(i guess you can ALWAYS say that)and it equally does an excellent job of capturing their show at this point in their careers!! both are excellent choices, but since ed forced us to choose(just kiddng ed),i had to go with ESL !! i also like the way they filmed R30 and when they do 2112/xanadu/working man and the R30 overture!! i can't wait til they release the snakes and arrows live dvd!!
#87 - Posted 1/16/08 @1:53PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

of course,i just realized that we are talking live ALBUMS and not dvds but basically everything still applies!! lol

WHOOO - HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!! YAY!
RUSH IS COMING TO AZ WHOOOO HOOO!!!!!!!!
Those guys are the best!
#89 - Posted 1/16/08 @2:25PM by jediyyz [contact]

All these changes and so-called dates...I can't and won't get excited until tour dates are confirmed!! This waiting game continues...can't wait until I can really begin to plan!
#90 - Posted 1/16/08 @2:33PM by iluvgeddy05 [contact]

Canandaigua/Rochester, NY? No way!
#91 - Posted 1/16/08 @2:37PM by TMMB [contact]

With all the changes it appears like this waiting game may be awhile. Looks like they are making headway but my guess is (and it's just a guess) it won't be until the end of the week till we get all the dates confirmed. Please please confirm a date for The Gorge so I can plan my schedule and get off from work if it's a "school night". Maybe even Boise too if they bless us with their presence there.
#92 - Posted 1/16/08 @2:40PM by lerxst62 [contact]

iluvgeddy: I hope it's true. That gives me two shows within easy driving distance.
#93 - Posted 1/16/08 @2:53PM by Fiat [contact]

Rochester? WTF? I think that shyte of a town should lose privileges for the abominably low turnout in 02. I recall seeing a packed show there of 10,000 in 94 but I heard VT was embarrassing. Hard to believe they will play anywhere near such an economically depressed area. NY state blows.
#94 - Posted 1/16/08 @2:57PM by GeddyGirl [contact]

Now, now Fiat. Doesn't seem fair to damn the whole state because of one low interest show. I for one do not think NY state blows; I've only been there once (visiting some in-laws), but I loved every minute. When you're used to the hellish summers we get here in southeast Texas, NY seems like a little slice of heaven.
#95 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:03PM by crusher87 [contact]

Well, some parts of NY leave a lot to be desired. As a resident I can attest! Of course, being such a populous area we definately get our share of Rush shows so I won't complain.

Would like to visit Texas someday; have a good friend who lives in Dallas.
#96 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:05PM by GeddyGirl [contact]

I guess the grass is always greener... we only saw NYC (for like 2 days - what a tease!) and then Newfield/Syracuse. Paradise!

Texas has its moments, too - it's just TOO DAMN HOT and humid!
#97 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:08PM by WORKING_woMAN [contact]

i sure hope that ticket person at jpj in cville knew her stuff, ashley. rush coming to charlottesville would be excellent and something i never thought would happen, so fingers (& toes) crossed! nissan pav. and va beach would be awesome too. can't get too much rush!!!!
#98 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:15PM by iluvgeddy05 [contact]

Fiat : I was there at the Rochester show in 02, but that was a big arena -- and lower attended tour altogether so you have to keep that in mind. I think CMAC looks smaller, is an outdoor ampitheater and the area is smaller as well, so who knows. Being right out on Seneca Lake -- the king of the Fingerlakes wine country -- might bring in tourists and Rush fans alike. Also,Darien Lake had a great turn-out for Snakes & Arrows last summer, and I personally think the venue sucks (plus it poured rain like a mofo)!

And NYS is amazing. Love, your upstate NY resident :P

lerxst62: This would also give me two very good possibilities of shows to attend. Hope it's true!
#99 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:18PM by crusher87 [contact]

Well, we're about to hit a cold snap - meaning morning temps about 10 degrees. Ugh, it sucks and my heating bills are astronomical! I can understand how hot and humid is no fun - visited my in-laws in Florida in July - brutal! Not planning to do that again. Unless Rush is playing in Tampa, of course!
#100 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:22PM by GeddyGirl [contact]

Ughh. 10 degrees is cold even for me.

The thing about the cold is, you can always add more layers. The thing about the heat is, you can only take off so much before you get arrested!!

Saw Rush at Cynthia Woods last year - almost passed out from the heat in the seats!! (Well, probably the screaming and jumping around had something to do with it too). Would do all that again in a second for Rush, though.
#101 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:27PM by scottc [contact]

crusher87 I'll see your 10 degrees and raise you -23 on Saturday
#102 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:32PM by Terry [contact]

Farenheit or Celcius?
#103 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:34PM by scottc [contact]

that would be Farenheit
#104 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:35PM by crusher87 [contact]

ScottC - lol! I fold!

Fahrenheit

It's a great excuse to stay indoors and watch R30, Rush In Rio, etc...
#105 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:36PM by lerxst62 [contact]

iluvgeddy: I was also at the '02 Rochester show and regardless of the attendance, a great show (2nd row will do that). CMAC should be great. Saw Miles Davis there about 20 years ago. Also, agree with you about how amazing Upstate NY is wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Now where are those tour dates?!?!?!
#106 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:41PM by Terry [contact]

Ah, it makes my 41 F seem positively tropical in comparison.
#107 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:50PM by Fiat [contact]

iluvgeddy05,

That arena was packed in 94 for Counterparts. I'm not sure what you are used to but it only holds 10,000. It is the Rochester War Memorial.

It was half full.

I feel comfortable commenting on upstate as I grew up there. NYS is a mess.
#108 - Posted 1/16/08 @3:55PM by Fiat [contact]

Average attendance, as Neil has written, was 12,000 for VT tour. Even taking into account they are touring alone these days, that kind of turnout for a place like Rochester is depressing. Rush needs to be seen in a full or damn near full venue. Anything else is somehow anticlimactic.
#109 - Posted 1/16/08 @4:08PM by lerxst62 [contact]

Fiat: Back in'02 Rochester radio completely ignored the fact that the band was even playing there. Only die hard Rush fans were aware of the show and that was the reason for the low turn out. WCMF in particular seemed to have some kind of issue with the band. I remember hearing some type of derogatory remark from one of their DJ's on the way home from that show. As iluvgeddy stated, the Darien Lake shows are always well attended.
#110 - Posted 1/16/08 @4:24PM by Fiat [contact]

lerxst62,

Interesting. Would love to know the scoop on that one.
#111 - Posted 1/16/08 @4:26PM by lerxst62 [contact]

I think the fact that they play Springsteen on a non-stop loop (or so it seems) should be a clue.
#112 - Posted 1/16/08 @4:35PM by Michael Senyo [contact]

Erie, PA, or Buffalo would be better than Rochester.

#115 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:01PM by Spindrifter [contact]

If the Irvine show is May 15th, then that should make the Gorge and or any other Wa, Ore shows roughly around the 10-13.... Was hoping for another gathering with the Mighty Trio on the 24th of May (Lakeside Park)
#116 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:08PM by krlowe [contact]

you think new york state is bad? come to Michigan! :(

Michigan? I'm ancient enough to know Cobo Hall.
ms
#118 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:22PM by Spindrifter [contact]

I'm taking back the 10-13 dates for WA and Ore. Forgot about their stop in the Bay Area!

So, Terry, Prime and all those in the Bay Area, expect your show between the 10th and 13th!

The boys should be in Wa and Ore between the 4th and 7th would be my final guess.
#119 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:26PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Ugh, Ed updated with fat fingers, Lol! And I didnt know!

The Bay Area should host the boys between the 5th and the 8th and they should be in Wa and Ore between the 1st and 3rd.

Unless, Eds fingers grew again... Thats my last estimate!
#120 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:28PM by Terry [contact]

Hey Spindrifter, the 13th would be fine, as if Rush are definitely playing Vegas on the 10th, I I intend to fly from Las Vegas to San Francisco on the 11th.
#121 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:30PM by Terry [contact]

Hmmmm. OK. If that is the case I will try and be in San Francisco first. If I get two Bay Area shows, I may give Vegas a miss!
#122 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:33PM by crusher87 [contact]

lerxst 62:
I'm fascinated that there are people in the music business that don't find Rush an extraordinary band. You may not like their music but give credit where credit is due!

I take guitar lessons from a classically trained jazz guitarist, and maybe he's blowing smoke up my arse to keep me coming to lessons, but he says that Alex is highly under-rated, and that Neil and Geddy have no living equals and are easily among the best ever on their instruments.
#123 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:34PM by witch hunt [contact]

Hoooray the Hershey venue was switched to outdoors! I love indoor Rush, but the Giant Center sounds like a Giant Trashcan. Now all those HersheyPark Happy folks will be able to hear some good stuff as they hike to their cars. Oh please keep this venue and the Wachovia Center. Please. Please. Please.
#124 - Posted 1/16/08 @5:50PM by max o'webster [contact]

Great to see Rush taking time out this tour for a game of cricket (Google it). Probably because they are subjects of Her Majesty the Queen.

Nice Touch ....
#125 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:09PM by sth2112 [contact]

dang, i want some news on the washington and oregon shows.
they havent metioned anything about thoughs dates.
#126 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:23PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Sth, if Eds date for Irvine is correct then the boys should be here somewhere around the 1st or so.

My son is turning 18 on April 25th. So, that would be damn sweet for him to see our band on his B-day!
#127 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:28PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

o ok, i thought they might have been playing around mid may.

Right on dude! he'll love it, im geussing hes a pretty big fan as well
#129 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:34PM by Spindrifter [contact]

It'll be his 2nd show, my 24th or 25th! When they played at WR, he was up the entire time, though, I to sit a few due to my knee.
#130 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:34PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

crusher- i don't find it hard to believe that your teacher feels that way!! i don't even play guitar but i feel the same way!! nice to hear someone who really knows something say the same thing that i've been saying for years!! lol
#131 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:41PM by TMMB [contact]

sth2112,

I hear ya man...I was hoping for some news on NW dates myself. By looking at the schedule it would make sense to me they would hit The Gorge around 19th of May. My logic is that it looks like they might be trudging north this time instead of previous tours where they hit the NW first and then moved south. If they play 2 shows in the LA area 11th/12th and then Oakland 14th...Concord 15th...Portland 17th...and The Gorge on the 19th??? I'm just pulling this out of my a** so take it with a huge grain of salt. Just kinda fun to guess when they might hit our neck of the woods. I have no information whatsoever...this is ALL guesswork.
#132 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:43PM by Terry [contact]

Well, if we get both Oakland and Concord, I may go straight to the Bay Area and give Vegas a miss! I really want to see Rush twice this time round.
#133 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:45PM by TMMB [contact]

I wonder if the Concord show might eliminate Oakland??? That would suck for those guys down there!
#134 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:47PM by sth2112 [contact]

TMMB,

Thats excactly what i was thinking, but then you have to think about where they would playing in between May 1 and the 10th, i d rather see them mid-may then early may myself, i dunno no why i just would, ha.
well since you like geussing when do you think they'll anounce the dates? :)
#135 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:53PM by TMMB [contact]

sth112,

I'm guessing that will be their break. It usually comes after about 16 shows they take 9-10 days off. There are no dates set yet from April 20th thru 29th. They will probably fill that in for sure with some southeast dates. Does not make sense to me to go from Phoenix to The Gorge and work their way back down.
#136 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:55PM by TMMB [contact]

I'm guessing we'll hear the dates by Friday..... I HOPE ANYWAY...:)
#137 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:57PM by sth2112 [contact]

TMMB.

Ya that makes sense for them to do that. So they'll probably play the arizona, nevada, and cali shows around May 10 through May 17, and then hit the Gorge and Portland after.
#138 - Posted 1/16/08 @6:59PM by Rob

I talked with a friend at Brantley Sound in Nashvile this evening. A big name artist has reserved the Sommett Center in Nashville (Formerly Gaylord)for a date in late June, around 18--21st. I hope it is RUSH, but it could be anyone from Springsteen to Van Halen. Tennesseans keep your fingers crossed.
#143 - Posted 1/16/08 @7:48PM by sth2112 [contact]

hm could be, but then again it looks like rush is moving all there concerts to the outdoor amphitheatres.
#144 - Posted 1/16/08 @7:59PM by ResQ51Kmg365 [contact]

Well it only pending but finally seeing Pgh on the list! Finally some hope to cling to!
#145 - Posted 1/16/08 @8:03PM by sully_digs [contact]

I notice that RUSH likes the outdoor ampitheaters. So do I.
And that is really bad for Nashville with Starwood being closed. The R30 tour started in Nashville and the S&A tour was slated to start there as well. S&A is the only tour that I can remember since 1978 that RUSH has not played in Nashville, with the exception of one, I beleive it was Hold Your Fire or Presto, somewhere along that timeline that they played Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU. My stub could tell me but I am to lazy right now to go get out my RUSH scrapbook.

Whatever the case, I will be at RUSH '08 in Cincinnati, Indy and most likely St Louis as well.
#146 - Posted 1/16/08 @8:06PM by sully_digs [contact]

I have visited RUSH.com so many times with the burning excitement of clicking on the news link and the year 2008 is finally on the left of 2007.

Sitting down at a RUSH show? I can't even imagine.

Xana, had to... My knee was kinda beat walking up em steps at WR and it was pretty much the first time standing for a certain amount of time..... I felt like an old man sitting down. But, was shocked to see how many others were sitting down as well before me.

Dont forget the Missions in SF!

Fansince, I would very much like to say that tixs are free. But, between $50-$80. Not like they were back in the good ol days of $15 or a few bucks more!
#171 - Posted 1/16/08 @10:29PM by ReGorLaTroy [contact]

First of all...

Many thanks to Ed for the constant updates.

Second...who is the New York/New Jersey is going to which shows? (Never too early to start planning for summertime festivities!)

I plan on PNC/Holmdel, New Jersey on 12 July. (Primemover...you in?)

Jones Beach/Wantage, New York on the 14th of July...something about seeing RUSH on Bastille Day should prove to be magical.

And hopefully, Post-Gazette outside Pittsburgh...after all, if the Pittsburgh faithful were cool enough to drive 6 hours to MSG this past September...then surely a drive in the opposite direction is not outside the realm of possibility!

To all you Net Boys and Net Girls out there, wherever you are and which ever show(s) you attend...have great fun!!!!!

How about this one?

'We travel on the road to adventure
On a desert highway straight to the heart of the sun
Like lovers and hereos, and the restless part of everyone
We're only at home when we're on the run
On the run... (again in 08)

Repeat twice, have a beer, repeat once, 3 sips of beer then pee, repeat twice and hold lighter high while screaming.... Repeat cycle.

My mistake. The above ticket pic is mine. The 1st ticket price was $7.50 and it was 1979.
Even though RUSH did play Nashville on the Hemispheres Warm up tour on May 13th 1978 at a price of $6.50. I have the ticket yet it is very worn.

Not trying to promote any other RUSH sites out there either.

RIAB is by far the best.

Ed, thank you for all your continous efforts to keep us informed. This site is fantastic. Because of you my husband might let me make the 5 hour drive to Pittsburgh for a show there. Yay. He is even talking about coming along. Thank you.

#171 ReGorlaTroy, pretty sure I met you at Stout's before the MSG show. I think some of the same group are trying to meet up at the AC show! I'm hoping for Philadelphia, Hershey PA, and Atlantic City!

peace everyone

ps - remember this started on Monday???
#179 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:58AM by ashley [contact]

Ed said that "there may also be a Ticketmaster and/or AMEX pre-sale a day or two prior." Do you think that means prior to the general public's sale, or the presale for fans through musictoday? Thanks.

Re #171 and 178

ReGorlaTroy, I was one of those Pittsburgh faithful at Stout and MSG! Yes, you should definitely make the trip if the PG Pavilion works out. I will be there for sure! :-)

Closer, I'm hoping to make it to the AC show! Maybe Hershey. We shall see!(I still have to respond to your e bottle later today... will get on that!).
#181 - Posted 1/17/08 @8:49AM by Marathon Man [contact]

I just want to know and hopefully they still come to columbus. I agree with 171, 178 and 180 pittsburgh was a great show.

Closer (#171) and JenSawyer (#180)...

I remember you both and there is actually a picture of all of us together from the MSG/Stout photo section here.

Looking forward to meeting up and hanging out again this summer.

I am pretty confident that I will, indeed, make the drive out to Pittsburgh.

Now the question is...what would you love to hear them play that they didn't on the first leg of the S&A Tour?

Have a great day!

The Gorge on the 31st of May, and Clark County the first of June.
Sounds good to me! Finally we have some news on the northwest
#185 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:20AM by crusher87 [contact]

Stouts? Just before the MSG show? I was there as well. I saw the pictures from that night I was on the other side of the pillar you were standing near! I'm triangulating for the shows at PNC, Uncasville, and Philly. Anyone else?
#186 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:27AM by weirdharold2112 [contact]

That'll work - if the Dallas show is on the 25th it might be just a little bit cooler than the Smirnoff show last year in friggin' August. (Of course, in mid-April of '06 we had a day in D/FW that hit 101°. Luckily my wife & I were on our way to Orlando for our honeymoon.)

That's gonna be an awesome weekend of music in Dallas; two days later the reformed Asia plays the House of Blues. Hmm, Dream Theater's 'Progressive Nation' tour is supposed to be in April & May... I'm not doing anything on April 26th if they want to schedule a Dallas date. :)

Geographically the Duluth Ga , Charlotte and Ft Laderdale shows now seem a bit odd.
assuming they still don't want to do three shows in a row? That would send them out West and then back south in the summer? Unless they squeeze in one after the San Juan show ? Getting worried !!!!!

Friday, April 11: San Juan, PR
Tuesday, April 15: Orlando, Florida
Wednesday, April 16: Jacksonville, FL
Saturday, April 19: New Orleans, LA
Sunday, April 20: Houston, TX
Friday, April 25: Dallas, TX

OK, so I know this is a total matter of opinion, but if I was choosing to treat myself to either the show at Red Rocks or the show at the Gorge, which is a better venue? I've DREAMED of Red Rocks for years, but if it's on the 5th, I don't think I can get out of school for that; it's the last day and they expect all our grades and stuff before we leave that day.

The pics of the Gorge I can find online (what few I can find) just don't even look comparable to Red Rocks, but it's probably a more do-able date since it's on a Saturday. I'm in Texas, by the way. Assuming I wanted to blow my income tax return on a dream concert trip, which one is the best?
#191 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:06AM by GeddyGirl [contact]

Also, are there ANY notable indoor venues scheduled so far at all?

Anyone notice the gap between Phoenix and Vegas?
They were back-to-back for the '07 tour. Aside from Reno, any ideas on other cities that would fit in geographically during the first week in May?

Moving the Phoenix and Vegas dates closer together makes for a much better road trip!
#195 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:52AM by starstuff [contact]

I just gotta say I love www.rushisaband.com. Seriously. You people are even more crazy about this band than I, and that just warms my heart.

Can't wait for Vegas! Mandalay Bay... oh yeah. When I was in Vegas for the previous tour, some friends and I were partying at Mandalay Bay the night before the show at MGM, and we kinda got lost trying to find our way out. We stumbled quite by accident into the backstage area and found ourselves at the after party for Tears for Fears and met all those guys. Now, if I can just remember how I did that for May 10....

There is a short post on the upcoming tour over at my blog on link

How does this sound?

Fly down to SEA from ANC
Catch two Seattle Mariner games
Go visit my dad in Yakima
see Rush on the following dates

George, WA May 31
Portland, OR June 1

Scope out Portland for a possible move in a few years
Catch a Portland Beavers game
Fly back to ANC

Go to bed.

Good to see Jensawyer, GG and SF! GG, you would be more welcomed here in the great Northwest! I've never been to the Gorge. But, have heard some pretty kewl and amazing stories! Some like and some dislike it.

So, they're back-peddeling this leg?

Dinomanrushfan, can I ask where u obtained these dates?

Ugh, its Thurs and still no sight of the little red button pusher?
#198 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:13PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Based on what I've seen through the threads lately.... Looks like it's gonna be one hellva party here in the Northwest.
#199 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:15PM by Spindrifter [contact]

A symptom.... Why the move to Ore?

But, after the Seahawks gave the game away... Baseball n Rush is all that I've been thinking about!
#200 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:16PM by GeddyGirl [contact]

That's right, you're up there in WA state, aren't you, Spin?

Of course, going to either of those shows is a pipe dream right now; the hubby has to agree to jar loose of the income tax refund, too, and he'll probably want to use it on something REASONABLE like building materials for the house he's working on for us right now.

I tell you, these mere Rush "fans" as opposed to us "fanatics"...

post #191-geddygirl,two indoor venues that are on the "venues with dates" list are the united center in chicago on june 9th and then joe louis arena in detroit(where i saw them on the signals tour) on june 10th!! sounds like most of the venues in the states are going to be outdoor though!!

"Based on what I've seen through the threads lately.... Looks like it's gonna be one hellva party here in the Northwest. #198 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:13PM by Spindrifter"

Man, I was just thinking the same thing.

Atlantic City
Philadelphia
Holmdel
Wantage
Uncasville

What a problem to have for a RUSH fan...the financial decision as to which shows to catch.

Holmdel and Wantage (Pittsburgh, depending on the date) are my definites at the moment.

I may have to get a part time job to pay for all of this.

Going to be a great summer!

#203 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:22PM by Spindrifter [contact]

GG... Yup, am in Wa.

My wife is gonna kill me and it may be worth the before death experiance.... But, am gonna do Clark County, The Gorge and (with a tiny bit flickering hope) RR!

The only thing that bugs me is that their White River show ranked #3 on the list of atten. And I dont think that they'll fill up the Gorge as they did WR. I could be wrong and I dont know what it seats.

Ugh, the Gorge (2 / 2.5 hr drive) vs. White River (30 mins) from my backyard.
#204 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:23PM by GeddyGirl [contact]

Thanks #201. I've been trying to find out more about some of the venues, but a lot of the sites can't make it through the filter here at school. Apparently these types of sites are too "entertaining" for us teachers to look at during school hours.

Gotta love it.
#205 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:25PM by GeddyGirl [contact]

#203~ Well, if we do somehow get to go to the Gorge, I'll have to stop and say "hey"; it would be nice to put a face with a name.

bonne journée mes amis rushian! vont comment les choses dans la terre de Rush?

I'm feeling almost Canuckish today! Rush, Rush, Rush, Rush!!!

Spin...man I would love to go to the Gorge with you man!!! What a sight! Neil Peart up against the back drop of that place...banging away and the echo of RUSH in the Canyon!

The fever is back...Rush and Baseball indeed...my Cubbies have made large strides this winter to field a champion...100 years this year...this could be our year!!! Lieber is coming back...a good omen.

Got to get the dates set so I can figure out which shows I'm going to make this time around! St. Louis isn't looking very good at this point...how would they fit it in? Chicago is a strong possibility and maybe Memphis if they play there...going to be some driving involved for me either way...means I will likely make only 2 shows this tour...two will do man...just so they is up close and personal!

Yes we are very lucky to live in the densely packed northeast if only we get our fair share of Rush shows! I'm planning on PNC and either Hartford/Uncasville, and possibly Philly. Given that Hartford and Uncasville are so close together I'm sceptical there will be shows at both venues....though that would be sweeeet!

I hope everyone on this board gets to see at least one show in '08!

GG, for the WR show, I wanted to try to get some people together and I guess that I shoulda done it sooner and it just wasnt planned out well. There were a few that we crossed paths with but did realize it till later.

So, this time... I'm gonna try to arrange for all of us to meet at one spot and make it memoriable. Am not sure if you remember some chit chat a few months back about a huge bonfire and smores after the show. This may be the chance as we can camp there as well!

But, ya gotta head north and west! With a touch of Ghost Rider... Lol!

Same goes for you too Tricked! Am getting my new Cubbies hat soon. So, on my hat rack will be the Hawks at the bottom and my SJ Sharks, M's and Cubs at the top! Lol!

I know I can get exicted about another Rush tour, but unfortunately I can't get excited about baseball like Geddy & some of my fellow Rush fans. Living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area my whole life means I'm a Texas Rangers fan, and as long as Tom Hicks owns the Rangers there's not any reason to get excited about the season.

More than likely, if Rush does play in Dallas on April 25th, the Rangers will have already been mathematically eliminated from contention. *smirk*

Sounds awesome, Spin. ~sigh~ I just REALLY wish we could make it to Red Rocks SOMEHOW! Someone tell me the Gorge is better than Red Rocks; I am madly trying to devise an evil plan to get out of school on the 5th.

PS The prospect of meeting several other RIAB users is helping my prospects for the Gorge just a little bit.
#213 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:45PM by TheHonestMan [contact]

man, st. louis still doesn't have a date (and it's been on the list since the beginning!). it looks like it would be June 8, right between KC and Chicago. although, i that would mean three shows in a row. anybody have a better guess?
#214 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:48PM by Terry [contact]

Hmm, does this mean that Rush are going to play the Bay Area on the 4th May? I better go to Vegas at the end of my vacation rather than the start! :)
#215 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:49PM by starstuff [contact]

Mandalay Bay will probably be the indoor arena. But they also have concerts at the outdoor beach there... I bet that's too small for Rush though.
#216 - Posted 1/17/08 @12:53PM by The Clansman 2112 [contact]

Looks to me that the Canadian dates will take place towards the end of May. That is a gorgeous time of year up here. It's not to hot like when I went to Calgary in the middle of July.
#217 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:00PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

honest-actually it would make it four in a row because june 10th is the detroit date! of course, all this could change at any time!
#218 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:00PM by ECMO1 [contact]

A little worried about the St. Louis show...Where are they going to squeeze it in between June 7 at KC and June 9 & 10 at Chicago and Detroit? June 8 means 4 shows in a row...highly doubt it...
#219 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:08PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

no way they will do 4 in a row...we will just have to wait and see! lol
#220 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:20PM by jediyyz [contact]

It may be just me, but it seems many of us are putting to much faith in these non-official dates! If the dates are announced tomorrow through official channels, it could be as soon as Tuesday for pre-sales?!...something doesn't seem right about this...stayed tuned...
#221 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:24PM by jediyyz [contact]

By the way, it can still get somewhat cold in Albuquerque on April 29th...the Journal Pavilion is an outdoors venue...originally the gig was said to be inside at Tingley Coliseum...still not so sure what to make of all this...
#222 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:31PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

jediyyz-excellent point,it would be much to cold to have an outdoor concert in albuquerque in april,i used to live in las cruces and it would probably be too cool there too!
#223 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:36PM by driventotheedge [contact]

Hello, I'm from vancouver b.c. was wondering about the gorge as it is a 5 hour drive from here. Are there any places nearby to stay such as hotels? I also have a source for tickets considering Vegas, is it better to be front row or 5 rows back from stage?
#224 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:37PM by scottw [contact]

Mandalay Bay will be the arena indoors. The arena is part of the hotel complex. I used to live in LV and I saw couple of concerts there. Rush always played the MGM Grand Garden Arena when I lived there. Now it Mandalay Bay. Tip for you: Park at New York New York; the garage is easily accessible. Then take the overhead walkway to Excalibur and the free tram to Mandalay Bay.
#225 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:39PM by witch hunt [contact]

Yay! Hershey is a go and Philly too! Come on Starlake Pavillion!

Assuming, of course, that Ed is right on...

I am so excited, that I could dance. Does anyone have any ideas how I could convince my husband to spring for three shows?
#226 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:41PM by jediyyz [contact]

Necro, it would be ok if the weather cooperated, but then again it could be uncomfortable...there is a concert scheduled for Journal Pavilion April 13th (Gigantour featuring Megadeath...I think I'll pass!!)...so it is possible...all I'm pointing out is we can't really plan until all this becomes official! By the way, I saw Rush in Las Cruces at the Pan Am Center for Grace Under Pressure, Roll the Bones and Counterparts!!...great crowds, great shows!!!
#227 - Posted 1/17/08 @1:56PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

jediyyz-agreed on the waiting until its official part! i lived in cruces in the mid eighties but somehow missed their power windows tour(did they go to cruces that tour?)and again in 1998(obviously no tour then)so i never saw them in las cruces, but i did see van halen during the 5150 tour and U2 during the joshua tree tour and they were great crowds!! the pan am center was a good place to see a concert,i would have loved to have seen rush in that intimate arena!! as it is,i'm looking forward to seeing them here in detroit in joe louis arena!! it's smaller than the palace of auburn hills and is where i saw the signals tour!!personally i would see them in a cave, but i have always loved rush indoors!!

Ok. I See The Dates Listed & Red Rocks is the again : ) : ) : ) So I Ask & Need to know??? When will the Red Rocks date go on sale??? Is it Next 26th of January??? PLEASE if anyone knows?? Let me know as I Don't know what round of dates go on sale....

Thanks

I think that's the million dollar question we all have, Matt. Well, that and when the heck are the official tour dates going to be released...
#230 - Posted 1/17/08 @2:13PM by Islander67 [contact]

As Long as We have 2 weeks to get read for the on date sale, I'm cool with it, IMHO Some dates?? Going on sale next week that were just announced is a bit unfair....

I Hope there is fair enough time as not to miss the announcement. Thank God for this site & NOTE to the Moderator.. It Might be a lot of work, but Listing the Venue & its Ticket sale date TOGETHER, Would be a Great way to go to avoiding confusion & panic....

Just My 2 cents. Till then I'll keep checking in Dail..
#231 - Posted 1/17/08 @2:21PM by Geddicorn [contact]

Is it Friday yet? This has been the slowest week EVER! And both my shows (Orlando and Jax) seem to have dates assigned, so I'm only waiting on pre-sale dates and such. I really feel for those who are waiting for pending venue dates. C'mon Friday, get here already!!!!
#232 - Posted 1/17/08 @2:26PM by jediyyz [contact]

Necro, no they did not go to Las Cruces on the Power Windows tour...saw them in Albuquerque...last time they were in Cruces was for Counterparts...I did enjoy the Pan Am for all their shows!!

Sorry, I had to head to my daughters school to take her some med. and am heading out in a few to have lunch-a-roo with the wifey.

220 ~ Jed, agreed! But, ya have to remember that Ed pretty much hit the bullseye with the dates to the 1st leg. So, I'm putting my faith in him again!

Just wish that the little red button pusher would just push the dang thing and end our misery!
#234 - Posted 1/17/08 @2:36PM by strangedevice [contact]

I agree he does pretty much hit the bulls-eye. What confuses me is that the Rush.com e-mail said now over 45 cities which to me would be 46, 47, 48 maybe even 50. There are 64 cities listed. Either they've upped the city count again or most of the pendings are not happening ... ouch

How the heck does one find a LiveNation "hidden page" ???

Any idea if the passwords are going to be the same for all shows or will they be different passwords?

How do you get the passwords ???

I'm sure no good seats are going to show up anyhow. Pre-sales are just a way to unload mediocre seats. Better seats show up after the fact and closer to show days !

Hilarious, I'm a teacher, too, and cannot log on to this site at school, either! Tho I did use one of the unblock websites one day to get on. It, of course was blocked again a few days later.

Looking forward to Albuquerque show everyone! Never been to the Journal Pavilion, though. I heard from someone the sound is not all that great. True? I'd love to get back up to COP for the Red Rocks show. Saw it last August.... Amazing!
#239 - Posted 1/17/08 @3:09PM by soozm32 [contact]

Oops, CO, not COP!!

Should've hit the preview button when I had the chance...
#240 - Posted 1/17/08 @3:15PM by iluvgeddy05 [contact]

strangedevice, I wonder about the amount of dates too! I hope they do most of them...if not, the venues I could go to might be knocked off the list.
#241 - Posted 1/17/08 @3:45PM by Washington State Loves Rush [contact]

YA HOOOOOOOOOOO! Now that it is a go for sure I cant help but snicker that Seattle is out of the loop. Never been to the The Gorge in George but hear it rivals Red Rocks in beauty. The last two times the boys have been to Clark County (which actually is in Vancouver WA. not Portland OR.) on the R30 & leg 1 of S&A I always felt the guys genuinely like coming here. The only thing that sucked was logging on the second the pre-sale went up last time around & ending up with row W, while checking back later in the day for the hell of it to find row E was then available. I should have sent that nasty e-mail to Music-Today after all. See you all June 1st, I JUST CAN'T WAIT!!!
#242 - Posted 1/17/08 @3:53PM by dman2332 [contact]

The best news of the day. The Gorge trip looks like will be played on a weekend, and I might be able to save more money to buy tickets. I can't wait!!!! Happy Birthday to me!
#243 - Posted 1/17/08 @4:35PM by jediyyz [contact]

#238 Soozm32...from the Albuquerque area?...Saw Rush on the Vapor Trails tour at Journal(4th row center)...the sound was good to me...since it has been upgraded and I know for a fact they used a recording of that show to test the new sound...should be fine...of course, if thats where the show will be...still awaiting official word!!
#244 - Posted 1/17/08 @4:36PM by Lerxster [contact]

New Blogger here and Huge RUSH fan. Exciting to hear the boys will be playing Dallas again. And that Mandalay Vegas show in May? Holy S*it I'll be there too! Thanks for the scoopage on the tour dates.

#223 Front Row! I've never seen them in LV. Consider the Bay Area - possibly 3 shows within days of each other! Huge fans here ;)
#249 - Posted 1/17/08 @5:32PM by Terry [contact]

I wonder whether there will be any chance of a midnight EST announcement? I will check my computer when I get up to go to work in GMT. Exciting times! Our wait may nearly be over!
#250 - Posted 1/17/08 @5:33PM by xanadurush [contact]

Looks like we'll be up late F5ing!!
#251 - Posted 1/17/08 @5:38PM by witch hunt [contact]

What if they change their minds and the guys say "ahhh never mind the spring tour, let's just go to the studio." Oh, I would cry. Please guys, make all these great dates come true!

My three year old just asked me to play Red Barchetta again....
#252 - Posted 1/17/08 @5:39PM by Terry [contact]

Ah yes! Despite my British location, I knew I would have to see them in the USA in 2008 after experiencing their fantastic 9th October 2007 show in London. I am too impatient to wait for the next Europe tour!
#253 - Posted 1/17/08 @5:40PM by Sean [contact]

ED- is going along with up to the minute information as he gets it. One can only imagine what is going behind the scenes at Anthem with the dropping of venues and additions of others due to circumstances with South America and other venues.

I would rather be kept informed via this site with constant information than getting nothing from any of the other message boards and Rush.com. Thanks for the service you are providing ED. You had a list to work with and a lot of those venues and cities are proving to be correct and finalized.

Thank You Again!
#254 - Posted 1/17/08 @5:46PM by Terry [contact]

I second that, Thanks, Ed! This is my first port of call for all things Rush.
#255 - Posted 1/17/08 @5:47PM by xanadurush [contact]

#251 - They would never do that to us!! :) By, the way - Witch Hunt was my absolute favorite (if you can actually pick one) from '07!!!, oh then there was Passage to Bankok, armor & sword. . .
#256 - Posted 1/17/08 @5:48PM by GeddyGirl [contact]

#253 ~ Hear, hear! Three cheers for Ed! As confusing as all the changes are to digest, I can only imagine how hard it must be to keep things straight and report them to others in a coherent manner.

THANKS ED!!! Keep up the good work.
#257 - Posted 1/17/08 @5:49PM by dedlift [contact]

I've got a fever...and the only prescription in RIAB F5 all day long...this is a blast!

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THE DETAILED INFO...RUSH FANS ARE THE BEST.

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH!

Well said, Sean! and THANKS primemover_3, that is EXACTLY the way I feel! The more we talk about it and I hear all the plans being made, the more I think about working owvertime to pay for more shows!! YIPPEE!!!!!!! (WE LOVE YA ED!!)
#259 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:05PM by Terry [contact]

I may go completely Rush-mad for their next album's tour in 2010 or so. I may have to see them in 3 locations of the USA, 1 location of Canada and various European locations. All I have to do is save up for a year or so!
#260 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:10PM by witch hunt [contact]

#255 - I loved witch hunt for '07. That is why I picked it for my name here. I tried to think of something less political/religous, but I could not stop thinking about how great that song was.
#261 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:14PM by Bravest Face

Terry, just be prepared for overzealous security! Depending upon the venue of course. Fortunately, I have never had any major issues, but I have heard some stories from others on here. I am not sure what the security is like in Great Britain, but I have heard this is a difference! Just be prepared! lol!!
#262 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:20PM by Terry [contact]

Thanks! I have been to large open air venues (non-Rush) in Indy and Atlanta (Oh my, I get around!), but they were fairly mellow. I've been to a couple of smaller capacity shows in San Francisco. I've had no problems yet! :)
#263 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:22PM by Sean [contact]

I only mention it because of a few comments on this thread and a few mentioned on other boards about how this site is confusing people and has been wrong. It actually has been updated as information comes in and a ton of those venues and cities Ed had given to him turned out to be right.

I just was giving props to him because his site is the only site that has been updating for months on this upcoming tour on a daily basis and has gotten a boat load of respect for it. So what if some information changes week to week, at least he is letting people know the wheels are turning and things are happening in your neck of the woods. What other site has done this kind of work so far?

I have that answer for you.

None.

He has kept us up to date on South America, North America, and all of the daily information tour or not tour related posted as he gets it. Rush.com has been putting out bulletins every month or 2 on whatever is going on. ED has information posted as it happens.

Also, most of the boards borrow or find the information here first and post it over there. ED has people e-mailing him all day long and to check multiple sources and make decisions on what to post and remain credible is asking a lot especially considering he does this as a hobby and has a family and a job like the rest of us.

When I read some people on the net being critical (or jealous) of RIAB and the tour dates all I can say is "Where is your page and your information?"

Kudos again ED.

#265 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:25PM by A Symptom Of Life [contact]

Spindrifter (#198) from Symptom (#196) - My wife and have been weighing the pros and cons of remaining in Anchorage. One of my pros for a move back to the Lower 48 (or Outside) was that it would be easier and cheaper to see Rush (or other bands)! Plus, we both prefer to remain in the Pacific Northwest and we feel Portland would be ideal.
#266 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:25PM by Terry [contact]

Maybe it will be the first mainland USA show on the 13th April or something.
#267 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:31PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Correct me if I'm wrong. I wasnt a Rushhead till 84. But, they put out album after album in short periods of time with tours in between.

And I know that the 2nd leg is in fact dubbed the 'S&A' tour from what I caught for the KC date on Ticketmaster before it was removed.

Just a thought to kill some time. But, wouldnt it hellva kewl if the boys popped a surprise cd upon us less than a year after the 2nd leg ends with yet another tour in tow.
#268 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:34PM by drummerdad2112 [contact]

you may be right, they are not getting any younger....
i'll take everything i can get

on what day do i need to open the RUSH ticket buying "war room" and get a late late jump to work.... i need a good excuse....aaahhhh yes, my daughter was sick and i had to take her to the doctors.

sounds as good as any other

thanks Ed!!!

Man I love reading these comments. The Rush force is strong baby!!! Ed, tell me this isn't a record # of responses for one single topic ever on this site?
#272 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:48PM by xanadurush [contact]

Okay, I have to make this comment. . . We had our first Rush show in Toronto last year and it was really amazing - what was missing was a funny little thing that Alex would do during Passage to Bankok. . . :)
#273 - Posted 1/17/08 @6:49PM by prat2112 [contact]

Hello everyone! This is my first post but I have been reading for a long time.

#243 Jedi - I just couldn't let you take credit for my 4th row center seats at Journal Pavilion on the Vapor Trails tour, my first Rush show. Where would you have been without my sister and me - back with your brother I think. Hopefully we can get the same luck this time around because I'm trying to convert my brother in law to the larger, and better, world of Rush. His first show will be Albuquerque in April and 4th row is a great way to start. We'll just have to see....
#274 - Posted 1/17/08 @7:08PM by soozm32 [contact]

jediyyz #243

Yeah, we're from Las Vegas. Last show we saw in ABQ was at Tingley (Grace Under Pressure). Haven't been to Tingley in years. If we can get seats really close at JP, that'll be great, but like you said, the concert could end up going indoors. Heard the date on 94Rock on Friday and just about flipped! Can't wait....
#275 - Posted 1/17/08 @7:21PM by Wall05

I'm gonna get to see them 4 times this leg! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
#276 - Posted 1/17/08 @7:40PM by crusher87 [contact]

Terry, it does indeed feel like Christmas Eve! Visions of Rush Tickets, firmly in hand, and shelling out more dollars for one more concert shirt, as everyone wonders, is a rant from Lerxst in store for the show!
#277 - Posted 1/17/08 @8:15PM by jediyyz [contact]

Ah yes Prat2112(nice name by the way), I fully realize you and your sister deserve much props for sharing those 4th row seats!!...but where would the 2 of you be without me?!...probably on some Aerosmith site wondering if they might put out a country favorites cd!!

Soozm32, I was at that great show in Tingley for Grace Under Pressure...truly a life changing event!!
#278 - Posted 1/17/08 @8:25PM by Weezy [contact]

Ed Rocks !!
#279 - Posted 1/17/08 @8:28PM by slavetothehormone

It does feel like Christmas Eve... except you can't track Alex Lifeson on NORAD.

By the way, how much is the online pre-sale discount? I'm starting to earn money that's more in the dollar denomination, and so far I've got about 50 dollars.
#280 - Posted 1/17/08 @8:34PM by TheHonestMan [contact]

I've been reading some of these comments that praise Ed, and I wanted to send him my thanks also. I'm new to this site, but I can guess that updating it is a full time job. No other fan site or forum about Rush has such a dedicated administrator. Do a search for 2008 Rush tour dates. Sure other sites might have some posted, but they won't be as up-to-date as the ones here. And if you look closely, you will see that they got all their information from rushisaband.com. This site rules! Ed, you rule!

Surprised that Cleveland is not on the tour list this year. It is after all.. the U.S. city where they got their start!
I went to 4 shows last year...Indy,Cleveland,Cincy,and Chicago..and the crowd in Cleveland was the most lame.

BTW.....Hey BF!
#286 - Posted 1/17/08 @9:21PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Eve to ya BF and to the rest of the RIAB'ers!

So, shall we and should be expecting the dates to be revealed upon our eyes tonight or at some point tomorrow?

Michael, I second BF's request!

A memo from a higher office has been revealed. It states that the red button pusher shall turn the key and press the button.......

It is the now time and it is Rush time!

Huh?

Holy crappers! My fingers just flew to the floor and my heart pumped a little harder with excitement. Jed, we need Jed in here!!! Jeeeeeeeeeeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone made a special appearance!

LYA......... Am gonna fight tooth and nails for it!

But, r u gonna head west for a few shows then we'll hop on a plane to RR????? Perhaps, maybe we can pass a few 'blow up dolls' to pass around the plane? LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!
#290 - Posted 1/17/08 @9:47PM by Light Years Away [contact]

you are sooooo badddd!!!!! lol!!!!

seriously thinking about the gorge then rr!! That would be cool. I'm sure jedi and fam will be there too!
#291 - Posted 1/17/08 @9:54PM by Spindrifter [contact]

I try... Sometimes, I dont try to be sooooo bad. Sometimes, its just natural!

If u look at how Ed has it, it'd be the Gorge, Portland (which is 2 hours from our place like The Gorge is as well) then RR.

Thats 3 shows in a row!

Ugh, din-din is nearly ready.......

Michael, what day and what time??? Really havent fiddled with the site yet. Thanks for the tip!

Ugh, I think I got one more post after this.... :~{ till an hour.

Light, we'll toss it around once the dates are solid and go from there. You are more then welcomed out here and I do want to hit 3 shows in a row.... That would put me into Rush-ie heaven! Lol!
#295 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:13PM by Light Years Away [contact]

we'll figure out something spin, don't you worry!!
#296 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:14PM by Bravest Face

Spin, Thanks for the link!

I forget to ask, Michael, is that 10pm EST or Pacific? If EST that will compete for me with the Kentucky-Florida basketball game, if 10pm Pacific, then I may be asleep! lol!! Didn't even think to ask as those of us in the Eastern time zone assume everything is according to our time zone! How presumptious! lol!!

Rob, hey! Can't wait until the announcement for the Riverbend show! This will be my only shot in 08 so I am pumped! I am checking with my connections, but it will depend on if I can get tickets via that method and how many! I do have you in mind though!

Spin, got to meet Light Years, she arrived with her friend, your dad! lol!! Remember that! At the Riverbend show last year! What a show! I will never forget! Excellent pre-show at a bar down the street and 12th row seats that rocked the house! Man, if I can have one show this year like that, I will die a happy man! lol!!
#297 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:14PM by STEVE.C [contact]

Starting to worry about the Halifax & St. John shows or am i just getting paranoid??????? It was 20 years ago when Rush played the Metro Centre and just for the record, i was 14 years old when i first experienced Rush live in Sydney N.S and i remember the cost of the ticket was $4.50. I believe this was in 1976 and i've been hooked from then on. Also i remember a band called Wireless opened for them. Man, i feel old! Concerts were so freaking awesome way back when as i'm sure lots of you remember.
#298 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:17PM by Light Years Away [contact]

Hey BF!

that was an excellent show and pre-show!!! The look on your face was priceless when I told you who I was!! lol!!
#299 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:19PM by sully_digs [contact]

STEVE.C

The best thing about concerts of long ago was the general addmission ticket. Every show I went to, and especially RUSH, me and my pals would be right on the stage. Maybe 1 row of people between us and the stage.
The Big Money has changed the way things are done.
#300 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:21PM by Bravest Face

Light Years,

Yeah, I was pretty shocked that you traveled that far! I thought my 8 hour drive to Charlotte was a big deal! lol!!

Well, can you make it back to Cincy this year? Due to my finances that will be it for me this time around. Either way, I know Rob and Necro will be there, among many others from this site I am sure! lol!

LYA.... What was the look on his face?

Am sure that I'm gonna be locked out for an hour till my next post....

LYA... It was good to see you touch foot back into the threads again.... Maybe we need to figure out an IM thingy just for us. Miss the chit chats and the 'blow up dolls' L'ingMAO!!!!!! (seriously)

#297.... Isnt it funny that 90something% percent of the Rush fans found themselves as Rush fans starting when they were 14 (give or take)????

Off to din-din I go.... Yes, BF, its 7:26 here and we are slowly following behing you still.... Lol!

Could THIS be the night they "officially" announce the dates on rush.com??? My gut says it could be... with Ticketmaster having an an actual date on their website. On the other hand I think I'm just another optimistic RUSH fan!!! Anyway...I'll be hitting that F5 at midnight just in case.
#308 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:32PM by Bravest Face

Spin,

I have no idea what the look on my face was, I didn't see it! lol!! Light Years can tell you better than I! lol!!

I am in the 10% then who didn't start listening to Rush until much later in life, say 18! lol!!
#309 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:33PM by witch hunt [contact]

How many other folks are out your glued computer screen for the second time in a week, hitting F5 every so often, and popping around to various websites like Ticketmiser and LiveNation and Rush.com to see if you might stumble blindly upon some luck?

And which Rush album should I listen to while I watch the minutes tick by?
#310 - Posted 1/17/08 @10:35PM by Bravest Face

TMMB, keep hope alive!

We can all hope that at least by tomorrow morning an official announcement is posted! I have not been like many of you, waiting up nights and holding my breath, but still I am anxious for this announcement to come out, I have been continually checking as much as I reasonably can! So, please, maybe it will be soon! lol!!

I'm half planning on the atlantic city show for july 4th, so if the cincy date is correct... not sure I can do both.. I'm not saying no yet though!!! Also the tweeter in MA is a given...

Other than my wife who can tolerate RUSH, she likes Geddy but wont admit it, I cant say that I know many ladies that like RUSH. But after 16 years my wife has not had a choice in the matter. It is RUSH 24/7! She has been to 2 shows and enjoyed herself. But once again, she wont admit it.

By looking at the "tenative" dates it sure seems they are backtracking and jumping around the country a bunch. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The logistics in matching available dates with available venues must have been a nightmare this second time around. Oh well...more back roads for Neil. I'm just stoked there is a date for The Gorge!!!

Well ticketmaster has let me back in. I had to sign in to my account to access RUSH. But the site has slowed to a crawl. WOW --F5 ticketmaster.

Thanks, Sully! I for one cannot understand why more women don't like Rush (or aren't unhealthily obsessed with Rush). However, it is kinda fun to be the admired minority.

Rush chicks rock!

Hey how many girls are here? My husband is not into Rush. I always feel like a minority at shows because I am singing all the words and screaming and yelling and beaming big goofy smiles to everyone, while my hubby just bobs his head a little. I think people look at my husband and think hey you really got your wife to like Rush, nice job. But that is not the case at all. I need a tee shirt that says something like "I am the Rush fanatic, he's just here for the beer."

That is so funny...a friend of mine who I went to a show with on the first leg of S&A Tour commented, "Man, there are so many woman at this show than at any other previous tour."

Good night Net Boys and Net Girls...I guess we'll all be checking back bright and early for more updates and, hopefully, good news on the pending tour dates!

Amen, witch hunt! I can relate; my husband is the one who actually introduced me to Rush (I was about 19 at the time), and he REALLY likes them, but I drive him insane because I love them WAY too much. He's starting to like them a little less just out of spite!

(Plus he's jealous because I think Geddy is the sexiest man on the earth...)
#328 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:01PM by sully_digs [contact]

At the Indy show last August there was a woman in the row directly behing the VIP box we were in and she tried to drive us crazy b/c we were standing up and she could use her cell phone to take pics. Hell, I said stand the hell up or go out in the aisle or something. She was interrupting Natural Science and that just could not be allowed to happen.

Shout out to all female RUSH fans, not for the ones who will get on the band wagon when Working Them Angels hits the air waves full speed.
#329 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:05PM by GeddyGirl [contact]

#328~ Sully, you are freakin' hilarious!BTW, What is up with people who come to concerts just to sit on their cell phone the entire time?

Well, gotta go for tonight - going out of town to see the in-laws this weekend, and I'm supposed to be packing an overnight bag.

Here's hoping we see some dates very soon!
#330 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:10PM by witch hunt [contact]

GG: I think Alex is pretty hot still... And there is something about Neil's quiet mysterious sullen thing that appeals to me. Geddy hmmm, I never really found him sexy. I think its the photos from the 70's where he looks like a beautiful woman (lipstick, makeup on his checks, and girly hair)that interfere with my affinity for him on a hormonal level. Plus he seems really normal.
#331 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:11PM by PauleyB [contact]

TMMB,

You were asking before about the venue at the Gorge. I looked at the seating chart today and I can tell you that the aisles on the left and right are about the edges of the stage. I know that the stage looks wider than that but there is the side crew back there and they put up big partitions. Take that into consideration when you plan your tickets. I am putting together a NWRush fan party the night before and day of the show. It's cool that the show is on a Saturday so we can go early, catch soundcheck and do a little tailgating. On the VT tour, we got there about four hours early and had a BBQ and stuff before the show. A great time was had by all...

Take care friends,

Pauley B

Poo she left.... I am sure you guys don't want to hear how cute the band is... sorry... :P
#333 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:18PM by soozm32 [contact]

I'm a Rush-loving female. I've been on board since the early 80's. Luckily my hubby is a big fan and, get this, my teenage son and his best friend (who play the drums) are big-time fans! We all went to the show up in Red Rocks last summer (their first concert ever), and they were blown away!! I do agree about the small number of female fans. Can't come up with a sound theory on that one, but at least it makes for shorter restroom lines at the concerts! Shout out to the fans out there!! Another great Rush year is upon us!
#334 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:21PM by TMMB [contact]

PauleyB,

Thanks for the heads up on the seating. Excellent information to know. Sounds like it would better to be a few rows further back than score seats up front stage right/left. I was fairly close to the stage on the right at WR and it was not a problem at all....but I know what you are saying about The Gorge. Bigger stage...makes sense. Keep me posted on the tailgate party ...sounds like a good time had by all.

Oh, another thing, my husband heard on KZRR 94Rock out of Albuquerque today that the official announcement would take place on Monday! Don't know.... maybe we'll have a little longer of a wait.

#336- Monday?!!! I'm counting down the minutes and we may still be DAYS away from an official announcement?!! *mutters to self: patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue....* :)

Hey folks, can we all agree on one thing? During the performance, can we all just SHUT THE HELL UP? Now I am not saying don't scream, yell and cheer - I'll be doing just that myself. I'm talking about you morons who debate the evolution of Neil's improvisational techniques since the Hemispheres tour during the solo. SHUT THE HELL UP. Your annoying verbal incontinence is like a cell phone ringing during a movie.
#342 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:40PM by soozm32 [contact]

Okay, rush-tours says Friday, but I still have received no e-mails, and I've been registered for a looooonnnnnngggg time!! Hope you're right and I'm wrong, the suspense is gonna kill all of us!!
#343 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:43PM by rush-tours-rule [contact]

Just noticed the official e-mail I received regarding tomorrow's tour announcement has an extra dot (.) after the "www" so it can't link to rush.com.
I have forwarded it to Ed...it is official, Friday, 8am EST.
Time to go crazy!!!
#344 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:44PM by Geddicorn [contact]

I haven't received this e-mail yet. But then again, I never did receive the last one :(. So 8AM, is it? Yay!
#345 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:46PM by sully_digs [contact]

can you copy and paste the email?

I havent received it and I am registered under 3 addresses............................
#346 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:49PM by GeddyGirl [contact]

#345~ I wonder what the deal is with most of us not getting any emails? I have yet to get anything at either of the two addresses I have registered. I just went on rush.com and tried to re-register, and it said "Error - you are already registered". Hmmm...
#347 - Posted 1/17/08 @11:49PM by sully_digs [contact]

GeddyGirl I had something funny for you, but I did not realize that there is a 6 message limit per hour. So since then I freakin forgot!

I have not watched R30 three times today.

When my 13 year old son got home from school today he called me and asked "when is RUSH coming?"

I think female RUSH fans are cool....even the ugly ones!! LOL

#338- link didn't work for me either and rush..com looks like a wierd address. Bummer. I have checked my email a skizillion times in the past minute and nuttin'.

#341 - I have to scream and yell, because if I don't I'll explode. Sometimes my timing is really bad - like a few beats after the climax of Hope when the song is really beginning to recede and relax and everyone is listening contentedly. I burst out the wooo hooo. (Me, dolt - you, civilized Rush fan).

Hey sully: you are funny.

It's the earliest glimmer of spring - long before the Brewers head to Arizona or the first robin finds a frozen worm - Summerfest has announced its first main-stage booking for 2008: Rush.

The progressive-rock behemoth is to rumble into the Marcus Amphitheater on June 27 for a 7:30 p.m. show, festival officials announced today.

The event will be part of the second leg of Rush's Snakes and Arrows Tour, which started last year.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 2 through Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 and at www.ticketmaster.com. They will cost $75, $60 and $40. A limited number of free lawn seats will be available on the day of the show.

Snakes and Arrows is the largest-grossing tour in the Canadian power trio's long history. The band also played the Marcus Amphitheater in September on the first leg of the tour and sold out.

Summerfest is June 26 through July 6.

When they turn the pages of history
When these days have passed long ago
Will they read of us with sadness
For the seeds that we let grow
We turned our gaze
From the castles in the distance
Eyes cast down
On the path of least resistance

Cities full of hatred
Fear and lies
Withered hearts
And cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons
Dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude
And scoffing at the wise

The hypocrites are slandering
The sacred halls of truth
Ancient nobles showering
Their bitterness on youth
Cant we find
The minds that made us strong
Cant we learn
To feel whats right and wrong

Cities full of hatred
Fear and lies
Withered hearts
And cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons
Dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude
And scoffing at the wise
Cant we raise our eyes
And make a start
Cant we find the minds
To lead us closer to the heart
