Rush 2008 Snakes & Arrows tour venue list
Posted at 7:05PM | comments (184)

Rush Snakes & Arrows TourUPDATE - 1/7@3:09PM: Since this post is getting cluttered with updates, I've started a new one. I'll discontinue updating this post and make any further updates to the new post.

UPDATE - 1/7@9:28AM: According to this there is a date set for that Detroit show I mentioned; June 10th. Thanks to krlowe for the heads up.

UPDATE - 1/4@12:30PM: This article (registration required) seems to confirm an April 30th date for the Monterrey, Mexico show. I'll tag it as no longer pending. Thanks to Carlos for the heads up.

UPDATE - 1/4@9:51AM: Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids is out, Joe Louis Arena in Detroit is in, and the Idaho Center in Boise, Idaho is another Pending date (thanks Brian B). I've updated the list and should have more updates in the next few days.

UPDATE - 12/21@10:59PM: It's been a crazy day (last minute work stuff, Christmas stuff, etc.) so I won't have my regular Updates and other random Rush stuff post ready until tomorrow. I'll have a lot of cool stuff in the update so stay tuned.

UPDATE - 12/21@7:28AM: I'll have my regular Friday Updates post later today. But for now I have some new information regarding venues. The Rhode Island gig is out in favor of the New Hampshire show. And we have a new one ... the SPAC in Saratoga Springs.

UPDATE - 12/20@10:08AM: As several of you pointed out, the Bank of Kentucky Center is currently under construction and probably won't be finished until late July at the earliest. And since the band does not want to extend the tour past July into August/September they've crossed this one off the list. Sorry Kentuckians!

Also, The Gorge Amphitheater in George, WA is now in the mix. This may put the Seattle show in doubt now - so I've switched that to a pending.

Regarding the Philadelphia show mentioned in the Rush press release; I've received a lot of feedback and suggestions from readers about what show they might be referring to. My guess is that the Hershey, PA (just 60 miles outside Philly) show may be what they were referring to. This is just my best guess though.

----- snip -----

UPDATE - 12/19@11:02PM: The pending New Hampshire show would be at the Verizon Wireless Arena (added to the list) sometime in July. That brings us up to 48 possible venues! However, from what I know, there will probably be no more than 43 actual cities covered - so 5 or so of the pending venues will likely be dropped. This will all be based on geography and availability; for instance - if the Rhode Island gig falls through than the New Hampshire gig is more likely to happen and vice versa.

The Jones Beach show is set for July 14 (Bastille Day!).

The band is still penciled in to play the Quebec City 400th anniversary celebration in the week of July 4th - but nothing is definite yet. Also, the original plan was to close out the tour here but that doesn't seem to be the case any longer.

----- snip -----

UPDATE - 12/19@9:42PM: One more thing that I'd forgotten to emphasize in all the excitement; none of this information is in any way official. So I wouldn't bother trying to contact Anthem/SRO about it - it is unlikely to yield any results. :) We'll all get the official word in a few weeks.

UPDATE - 12/19@9:15PM: Yet more updates ... (sorry- I just keep getting new info!) The Rhode Island gig should actually be listed as pending (I updated the list). And good news for Boston fans - TD Banknorth Garden will host Rush in July (I added to the list). There's also a New Hampshire gig pending - not sure of the venue yet though, so I'll keep it off the list for now. Some of you also noted that Van Andel Arena is actually in Grand Rapids - not Detroit (I updated the list). However... don't count Detroit out just yet... :)

The Atlantic City date is supposed to happen on July 4th. Still no word on whether they'll still be playing the Quebec City 400th anniversary celebration; I'm trying to get some info on that.

And... this is REALLY cool... an IMAX crew will be filming one of the shows!!! Not sure which one yet. Wow.

Also a reminder that - as I reported in November - the official tour date announcement will occur in the 2nd week of January with tickets going on sale at the end of January and early February.

And finally - let's remember that this info is still all subject to changes/additions at this point. I will report anything I find out as soon as I can. One thing that several of you asked about was the Philadelphia show alluded to in the Rush press release and I'm not sure what's up with that. I'll see what I can find out.

----- snip -----

UPDATE - 12/19@7:23PM: Oops! Left out a couple ... see the bottom of the list. Looks like they are going back to Red Rocks too. 46 now!

Just last week Rush officially announced the 2008 extension of the Snakes & Arrows tour. They confirmed that they'd kick off the tour this Spring in Puerto Rico and teased us a little by revealing a few of the cities the tour would cover. I was hoping that I'd get some advance information on more cities/venues and specific dates before year's end. Well... I haven't managed to get any specific dates yet but I did get my hands on a complete list of the venues the band plans on hitting. The list is not in any particular order as the exact dates and routes are still being determined. Venues that are still pending a final decision are indicated with an asterisk (*), while all the other venues are essentially confirmed. The band is also leaving the option open for a second show in Puerto Rico if needed. Again - the list is not in order (except for the Puerto Rico show). Neil Peart drum roll...

Once again Omaha is left out.
#2 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:14PM by Rush Magnet [contact]

It looks like the Detroit Show is not in Detroit. Van Andle Arena is in Grand Rapids Michigan about 3 hours away from Detroit. I saw them there for the Test for Echo tour.
#3 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:15PM by bruinbkr [contact]

Yes! Anaheim and LA! Totally IN!
#4 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:16PM by lateralus [contact]

Hershey! Woo Hoo! I wonder if that is the "Philly" date.
#5 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:16PM by hermy [contact]

MILWAUKEE!!!!!!!
#6 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:20PM by Nettie [contact]

Milwaukee! but i think the venue may be wrong, the Bradley center is more likely, and they have played it before
#7 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:22PM by Nettie [contact]

I'm gonna see Ru-uuush!
#8 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:23PM by hermy [contact]

Nettie, is there even a US Cellular arena?
#9 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:27PM by Nettie [contact]

yeah, they just renamed the old Milwaukee arena. The other possibility is the Milwaukee Theatre, which used to be the auditorium. It's been redone, but I still think the Bradley center is the best bet.
#10 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:29PM by lakesidemaiden [contact]

Er...you left off Boston (ie. The TD Banknorth Garden) and possibly Manchester, NH as well ;)
#11 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:29PM by hermy [contact]

I don't remember the Milwaukee arena.
#12 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:30PM by Nettie [contact]

of course if they want a small venue, the arena would be small, and it's where they performed when I first started seeing them, so who knows?
#13 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:31PM by Nettie [contact]

northwest of the Bradley center near Matc 6th and state or so
#14 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:33PM by Nettie [contact]

Thanks for the Christmas present Ed
#15 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:38PM by Nettie [contact]

Hermy, I'll email you.

I'm so happy!
#23 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:45PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

i'm sure van andel arena is much smaller than the palace,so that's actually pretty cool!!
#24 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:47PM by hermy [contact]

Milwaukee, Chicago, and Grand Rapids makes the
perfect triangle of Rush!
#25 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:47PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

yep, totally cool they are coming to milwaukee for you and hermy!! i am jacked to see them in grand rapids, the smaller venue will be really cool!! it is my reward at the end of my rehab, and i am going to rock out!! can't wait to see the revamped setlist!!!
#26 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:49PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

yep,im going to go see them in kentucky too and possibly chicago!! i may be dreaming on that one though!!
#27 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:49PM by Nettie [contact]

They would have to revamp the stage to fit into the smaller venues too. Hmmm, but Milwaukee is a definite go, Chicago is a maybe for me
#28 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:50PM by jmreidfo [contact]

St. Louis again? Interesting?

I thought Nashville instead of Memphis and Louisville instead of "Cinci" but St. L/Cinci area works for me!

Where is the arena in Highland Heights?
#29 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:52PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

i would be so estatic if they played "here again"!!! one of my favorite solo's by alex!!!(there are so many)
#30 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:53PM by NEcromancer [contact]

Rosmakloma,

I assume you're disappointed that Omaha was left out. I too am saddened by this. Omaha would be a great venue for the boys as we built the Qwest Center Arena a few years back. It's world-renowned for the ticket sales. Rush hasn't been here since the RTB tour. If anyone can feel my pain, we need to get a grassroots campaign to get Rush back to Omaha. I saw them in Des Moines once and in StL twice when the tour machine geared up again after the hiatus. I think they'd get a great draw here. With I's 29 and 80 intersecting here, it's a no-brainer. If anyone associated with the band reads this site, THEY MUST COME BACK TO OMAHA, WE'VE BEEN WAITING 17 YEARS. Does anyone know whom I can contact to put a bug in someone's ear?
#31 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:54PM by Nettie [contact]

I'm just happy they are going to play here again!
but I'd like to hear Cinderella man, Presto, Xanadu...
and that fan favorite, Closer to the heart
#32 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:56PM by primemover_3 [contact]

I'd love to hear Best I Can. But I'll settle for Freeze.
#33 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:57PM by timintey [contact]

Damn, Verizon in Charlotte. Was so hoping for the Bobcats arena. Oh Well. RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!
#34 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:57PM by Nettie [contact]

that would be good, or Peaceable kingdom
#35 - Posted 12/19/07 @7:59PM by rushed again bb [contact]

ReHi ALL...

What a pleasent surprise!
Maestro tentatively in Oakland.

When the rumored 2008 leg was in the air, I wondered as to whether the band would change up the setlist...

I still do...

No matter. Change or no, Rush indoors IMHO, is a more rewarding experienced than Rush in the ampitheater...

Snakes and Arrows in a concert hall...

'That's NICE!'

Nice to read you again Maestro!
I totally agree......Rush indoors is the best!
Bettter sound and lights......there's just something
about an arena going dark seconds before a show!

#63 - Posted 12/19/07 @9:22PM by B_Billy [contact]

necromancer 2112,

Here Again is one of my favorite Rush songs. That was the song that made me realize that there was something more to music in general other than notes on a page. I really "felt" that song and it has completely changed the way I listen to music. I would LOVE to hear them play that, it would mean so much.
Then again, if they just went on stage and made fart noises under their arms for 3 hours, I'd still go see them! ;)
#64 - Posted 12/19/07 @9:23PM by PhillyMike [contact]

Giant Center in Hershey, PA is indoors - Hersheypark Stadium is outdoors.

Would be surprised if Hershey is the Philly date.

The list (so far) does not have a venue in or near Washington, D.C., which also was mentioned in the initial announcement.
#65 - Posted 12/19/07 @9:27PM by closer2heart [contact]

I agree phillymike...Hershey can't be the Philly show...but I'll take another PA show...no problem

And Atlantic City. Another great summer....coming up!!

Hi Missionman! didn't get the e
#66 - Posted 12/19/07 @9:33PM by rmull [contact]

I'll be going to:
Hartford Ct
Providence RI
Boston MA
Portland ME
Manchester NH

Shows 60-64 all-time.
#67 - Posted 12/19/07 @9:34PM by Lamb Saag [contact]

Regarding the show at * Bank of Kentucky Center - Highland Heights, KY: link

This is a venue that hasn't even been BUILT yet. No wonder it's tentative! It will be at the NKU campus, opening September 2008, about two miles -as the crow flies- across the Ohio River from Riverbend Music Center.

It would be neat to see Rush in a venue that still has that new car smell...
#68 - Posted 12/19/07 @9:42PM by germanwill [contact]

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

MONTERREY!!!!!

WOW THATS AWESOME

THAT IS DEFINITIVELY ONE OF THE SHOWS!!!!!!!!

MONTERREY ARENA IS VERY GOOD, IF THEY ARE PLANNING TO PLAY IN MEXICO CITY PLEAS CHOOSE AUDITORIO NACIONAL, NOT PALACIO DE LOS DEPORTES.

EL AUDITORIO IS THE SECOND WORLD BEST SOUNDING INDOOR VENUE IN THE WORLD AFTER RADIO CITY IN NYC.

WELL I WOULD PREFER EL PASO TEXAS OR LAS CRUCES BUT ALBUQUERQUE IS GREAT!

AND ALSO JOBBING.COM ARENA IN PHOENIX AND OF COURSE RED ROCKS!!!

WELL I KNOW WHAT I WANT FOR XMAS JUST IN TIME!!!!!!

DE POCA MADREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Going to shoot for the Memphis show as well as St. Louis and the Kentucky show which is really Cincinnati for all intents and purposes...Chicago is hoped for but will depend on the date!!!

Rush!!! Rolls!!!

See them now folks...I say as I've said before...the time is soon to come when we will only have our memories or our regrets of Rush on the road.

lol,B_Billy !! you nailed it when you spoke of "feeling" "here again"!! that solo has so much emotion in it,but that is one of alex's trademarks!! i mentioned "here again" also because i remember reading that they were playing it in sound check or something on the european leg of tour!! that would be so great,i agree!!!
#75 - Posted 12/19/07 @10:13PM by bhuie [contact]

I would love to see Rush in Little Rock again (my first time was in April '82). However, Memphis, St. Louis, or Oklahoma City are all close enough to make. Seeing them in Houston in August '07 just whetted my appetite...
#76 - Posted 12/19/07 @10:15PM by Bravest Face

Necro, check out Lamb's link. I sent you the same link via email. The Kentucky site is brand new, set to open next September, so we will have to wait at least that long.
#77 - Posted 12/19/07 @10:20PM by Rushguy [contact]

Being a fan of this band just gets better and better and better...... The behind the scenes stuff, the coming concert dvd, 47 more shows with a refreshed setlist.... I got this feeling in 1981 when I was 11. I can't explain it except to say it felt like I found THE band. A band I could BACK. 26+ years later, I can say with all conviction - yeah, I backed the right band.

To all those slighted with no expected show reasonably close to you, my heart goes out to you. For all the negatives of living in the NYC metro area as I do, a big positive is always being less then an hour from 3 shows and less then two hours from another 3 every single tour. And yes, I go to them and never take it for granted.

OH, BRAZIL!

Holy Crap

Rush are gonna play Saskatoon! I flew to Ottawa to see them in September and saw them before that when growing up in the UK on the Hold Your Fire Tour. Holy Crap!

I guess my nick was prophetic in some way.

Bring it on!

Last time they played here was the Permanent Waves Tour, this better be true!

#95 - Posted 12/20/07 @7:16AM by Hemisferios [contact]

Oh, yeah!!! I don't have to travel anymore, they're coming, no, no, no...THEY'RE STARTING IN PUERTO RICO!

But I can't get enough Rush, I 'm thinking of Charlotte, NC as I did in 2004. I don't think there will be 2 nights here in Puerto Rico, unless a lot of fans from all around travel here. But it would be nice to have the IMAX filming crew here.

If they play all these cities, they can truly say it was a WORLD TOUR!

So what happened to the DC show mentioned in the press release? The nearest city I see here is Charlottesville, and that is 2 hours away......

#102 - Posted 12/20/07 @11:12AM by jaytee578 [contact]

this is incredibly exciting. red rocks again is a no-brainer, and then both vegas and albuquerque are within driving distance...

everything depends on dates, but this is going to be a great tour. i'm so excited for all of you in south america--looks like they're getting to quite a few places down there!

to me, this doesn't really seem like an "extension" of the tour--this seems like a whole new beast.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Rush is back on tour and we didn't have to wait 3 years!
#106 - Posted 12/20/07 @11:41AM by hermy [contact]

I'm thinking the set list will under go about a 25% change.
The South Amreicans haven't heard it yet so they will still play most of the S & A stuff as well as the reagulars..Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio......The will probably through in Closer to the Heart for them as well, and us probably. That leaves a few songs such as Natural Science and Entre Nous up for grabs....
#107 - Posted 12/20/07 @11:42AM by rushed again bb [contact]

I'm feeling like a kid going into the candy shop for the second time with this 2008 tour. Keep the good news coming!!!
#108 - Posted 12/20/07 @11:54AM by slavetothehormone

Possibly Manchester? YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew it! Of course, my dad may not want to go, so I should probably buy my own ticket- I certainly want to see them if they were laying right in my back yard!(Which, of course, is just saying in my home town, not literally in my back yard). I must start saving up- how much do tickets usually cost?

By the way, #36: I'd want to hear all 4 Fear songs as well (in Mansfield, I only heard Part III). Oh, and forgive the correction, but a better word to describe the series is a "tetralogy" (tetra= four). Just suggesting...
#109 - Posted 12/20/07 @12:21PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Holy crappers!!! 2 shows in Washington!!!!! Waaaaaa-Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Spindrifter is spinning!

But, whats 'The Oracle' in Oakland? Has the Col. been renamed?

#92 ~ SF, if they play in your backyard... I'll bring the smores!

#108 ~ Slave, tixs are running $45-$80 if I remember.

109 bottles on the wall and passing it around!

#111 - Posted 12/20/07 @12:36PM by Bravest Face

Necro, crap! It looks like the Kentucky show has been scrapped! Damn it! Well, I am still going to hold out hope since this is not official yet, but if the Kentucky show is indeed off the list, then it looks like Columbus would be the next closest location, by a little bit over Chicago for me. I know you would hate to be around all of those OSU fans though! lol!!
#112 - Posted 12/20/07 @12:40PM by necromancer 2112 [contact]

lol,i know bf!! i sent you an e,i wouldnt give up hope for ky until the official word is out!! i guess i could go down to columbus,i'd do almost anything for a rush show!!! i will just have to keep all my michigan stuff home or i may get jumped!! lol
#113 - Posted 12/20/07 @12:46PM by Digital Man 82 [contact]

#114 - Posted 12/20/07 @12:49PM by Bravest Face

Necro, yeah, I can't wait until the official tour dates release in January.

Ed, when do you think we might get an exact date on that release?

Will the Philadelphia show acutally take place across the river in Camden? They played that venue last summer and I wonder if they might return...

I'm ready! Three shows inside of 12 months.
#119 - Posted 12/20/07 @1:36PM by NashVegas [contact]

NO NASHVILLE ???

I'm shocked since they were going to open the S&A tour here until the surprise sale and tear down of the AmSouth Amphitheatre just before the tour.

We have a newer arena (The Sommet Center) and an older arena (Municipal Auditoreum) which they have played in earlier years that would accommodate them easily. I can't believe they would play memphis over Nashville. OMG - memphis is practically in Arkansas.

Avenge Nashville!!!
#120 - Posted 12/20/07 @3:42PM by billydonald9 [contact]

Well if Rush has crossed KY off it's list, I'm crossing Rush off of mine. I have traveled enough in the last year to see them. They sure don't have any trouble making it to Ohio and Indiana. Rush has slighted us for 20 years. It's really very discouraging, because Louisville is a growing city and has evolved with a great cultural renaissance so to speak. Sorry Rush, but then again, I'm not.
#121 - Posted 12/20/07 @3:50PM by JesseZ [contact]

I'm hoping for 'Where's My Thing?'. If you forget what it's like check it out on youtube, it's really powerful live and they look like they're having a blast playing it. Also, live, it has a very cool intro.

My shows:

Staples Center, Vegas and (hopefully) Lima baby, Lima!
#122 - Posted 12/20/07 @4:20PM by ninjadave [contact]

to the pgh folks...if you saw the attendence for the outdoor shows, i think pgh was close to dead last...i love pgh, lived there for 7 years back in the 90's, i have seen every rush show there since 1984, but i don't blame them for not playing to a 1/2 full mellon arena....i'll be traveling this leg anyway and there are plenty of dates close by....but the real HUNDRED MILLION $$ question is...where in the f*ucksake is RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL???????? ack....i hope that is a late add like it was in 2004.

rock on all.

I'm hoping to go to those shows, too, plus Jones Beach of course as I am a Lawn Guylander.

I'll be in Red Rocks and PR if my house sells in time, whoohoo!

#109 Hiya Spin! Yep, Oakland Arena and Oakland Coliseum have both been renamed. The Arena is now Oracle Arena and the Coliseum is now McAfee Coliseum. If you make it back down to your old stomping grounds for this show, let me know! Sounds like you won't need to, though!

#98 Ron: I too really hope there's going to be a DC-area show, you DC-area fans deserve better than what you got on the first leg (Nissan Pavillion).

As DC-area folks know, Nissan is in a horrible location that requires traveling on a one-lane-each-direction road to get to, so there can be miles of backup. Even when you leave *plenty* early you still might get there late. And then once you get there it's a craphole! I haven't been there but I have friends in the area who have and after a few times they never want to have the experience again. Not even for the mighty Rush. So that should tell you something.
#125 - Posted 12/20/07 @6:10PM by El Chico Analogo [contact]

I don't see the Casper Events Center listed here. Oh well I take the roady to Red Rocks any day!
#126 - Posted 12/20/07 @6:17PM by jaytee578 [contact]

if they could find an indoor venue in the DC area to play, then it would be worth checking out... all of the outdoor venues in that area suck pretty bad. nissan is certainly a craphole, but merriweather post pavilion is a million times worse. there is a shortage of big indoor spots... the only one i can really think of is whatever that coliseum is called where the wizards play.

if the venue was worth my time, then maybe i'd head out there and stay with my parents...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,
I am pretty upset right now. I was really counting on them at least coming close to Louisville,KY. I may not get chance to see them. Tickets to the show is the only thing I asked for my wife to get me for both X-mas and birthday. I know St. Louis is not really far away, but not as close as I was hoping. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
#129 - Posted 12/20/07 @6:37PM by dinoman [contact]

AH, great news indeed. My only question is where will I be? If my move to the Gulf Coast is complete, then I have New Orleans to look forward to, If I am still in VA, then Charlottesville it is. By the way, for those lamenting the DC thing, Charlottesville is not that far away. I have no idea what the venue there is like, I've never been. It's an arena, so I assume it is indoors. Perhaps, if I am lucky, I will be able to go to both regions! Hooray!

#131 - Posted 12/20/07 @7:21PM by JohnnyTRacer [contact]

Looks like Johnny T Racer may have a road trip ahead!! Portland, OR to Seattle area. I am torn between the 2 venues listed thus far. Indoors vs. Outdoors. Power vs. Nature. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....Looks like I may have to do both!??! RUSH ON!
#132 - Posted 12/20/07 @9:10PM by tripinva [contact]

I've been in JPJ in Charlottesville (UVA student here, hoo-rah-ray!) and it's definitely indoors. We've had assemblies there and whatnot. Seems like a nice place for a concert; when class gets back in session in a few weeks, I'll ask people who have seen concerts there what they think. Oh, and I'm definitely going, and so is the rest of my family haha.
#133 - Posted 12/20/07 @9:25PM by jmreidfo [contact]

Disappointed as hell Nashville is getting bypassed as well as Louisville, but I think St. Louis is doable...(it's gonna have to be a weekend show for it to be a sure thing for me...)

Why St. Louis again instead of Nashville though? Gaylord Arena is a fine huge joint to rock in!!!!!!!
#134 - Posted 12/20/07 @9:40PM by jmreidfo [contact]

I am totally bummed over Louisville as well - wonder if there's any chance in hell if metro Cinci not in they'd reconsider L'ville (or even Lexington???)

I'd rather do Louisville (only 1 1/2 hour drive) than St. Louis (2 1/2 hours). It'll be tough as hell to do on a work night...

The press release refers to a new venue in Philadelphia. The thought is Hershey, PA. They did play there on the VT tour so I'm not sure if that would qualify as "new". Has Rush ever played at the Wachovia Center which replaced the old Spectrum? I know that Rush has played at the Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ on recent tours. I am a Baltimorean so I tend to go to DC shows; although I have been both to Hershey and Camden in the past. Just thought I would throw that in to think about.
#140 - Posted 12/21/07 @6:39AM by Malnar [contact]

Yo baltimore bg, not sure what they mean by new venue in Philly. The Wac Center was built in 96 i believe right by the old Spectrum (still standing and rocking) and if i recall correctly RUSH has hit at least once every tour since, except S&A. Hershey is like 100 miles phrom Philly. Perhaps that's what they mean by new venue- they'll play the Wac instead of the Tweeker Center, which I would prefer anyway :)
#141 - Posted 12/21/07 @7:30AM by bgibsonjr [contact]

Malnar, it seems that I spoke too hastily. Indeed they did play what is known as the First Union Center which I am assuming in the new arena in Philly in 2002 (among other years I'm sure). Perhaps I should have checked before I spouted off. I will be interested to see what the new venue in Philly. They were one of the first acts to play at the Giant Center in Chocolate town on the VT tour.

Thanks for straightening me out.

Sure, mine will be water though because I don't drink ;-)
Especially since these drives are 2 hours+ each way for me.

Do you know how to get front row seats? I'd like that on one show.

Yay, they're playing Saratoga! I wonder if I can sneak my dogs in?!
#145 - Posted 12/21/07 @9:38AM by Malnargh [contact]

bg- the wachovia center in south philly, as it is now known, use to be the first union center (lovingly refered to as the FUC). It's been through a couple three bank name changes since it was built in 96. There are no brand new venues in Philly- the Wac is the newest. I now strongly suspect that what rush.com means by new venue in Philly is that since they only played the Tweeker center in Camden NJ (across the river styx from Phily) on the S&A tour this summer and ignored the Wac, the Wac center will technically be a "new" venue for the S&A tour. That's what i hope at least. And, i detected no spouting :) Rock on!

nposter (#47) you make a very good point! I was so hoping that Rush would play Louisville, but it looks like they might not happen, not even Kentucky. As I said before, Columbus would be the closest to me, but I am not going to complain about it. I'll just hope in the car, spend a little extra for gas and go to see them one more time. I realize it can be tough financially, trust me I know! Just think though, your fav band could be Floyd, Hendrix, The Doors, Zeppelin, etc., then you'd really be sol!

Also, keep in mind everybody, this stuff isn't official yet, as good as Ed is with this, there still may be some dates out there that he is not aware of. Let's just wait until the official announcement next month! I am just excited to get to see them at least one more time!

They have to come back to Phoenix. For the last couple of tours, we've been having to see them in the summer - outdoors.

They owe their Arizona fans an opportunity to see them without having to suffer in 110+ degrees.

And I would think, being from Canada, they would appreciate Phoenix a lot more, if they weren't here during the worst time of our year.

I hope to God they confirm that Phoenix indoor date.

I have to say, even with the weather as horrible as it was last July when RUSH was here, the concert attendence was over 12,000.

There's a whole lot of us Arizonan's who will suffer to see them, but it would sure be great to not have to.

Water's good.....i'll still have beer if that's ok.

the best way to get front row is to go through a local ticket re-seller (still frickin' robbery if you ask me)
durint the VT tour i kept slamming the tix website on 4 different computers, we call it the "War room") back when they had problems with the ticketing website, i was going out of my mind for over 45 minutes as nothing would come up. then...suddenly.... up came section 101, row 1, and seats 1,2,3&4...(i'm surpeised you didn't hear me screaming with joy) i already had the concert venue printed out, double checked what was on the screen and then clicked on the purchase. i'm sure anyone who is even remotely fanatical as i am goes through their preparation prior to the on sale date and time.
most importantly, empty your bladder 5 minute before tix go on sale, or limit severly your coffee intake, you don't want to leave your chair until the deal is done.

amen.

Digital Man 82-cool,i have an aunt that lives in howell !! it's not too far from me,either!! i'm really looking forward to seeing them in a smaller arena,i've seen them at the palace a bunch of times, which is a great place to see a concert but probably much bigger than van andel arena!!

PLEASE don't forget Halifax NS!!! We've waited 20 years and it could be the last chance for maritimers to see Rush on the east coast of Canada. No mention of Newfoundland which is a shame but they can't play everywhere, after all... they are old farts!!! Speaking of old farts... Ozzy Osbourne is playing here in January and it sold out so fast they added another show. The demand is here for great bands so come on down boys. We are waiting!!!
#165 - Posted 12/21/07 @9:53PM by PwrWndws [contact]

To all you Philly fans, I believe the "New Venue" very well could be the Wachovia Center. I don't recall them ever playing there although I could be wrong. They always played the Spectrum across the parking lot until the Tweeter Center opened. The Tweeter Center has been there I think since 94 or 95. They might've played the Corestates Center now the Wachovia Center which it opened as on the "Test for Echo" tour but I'm not 100% sure. It's been the Tweeter Center across the river in Camden for VT, R30, S&A since. I'll be in AC anyway and Hershey if the Giant Center is considered the new venue for Philadelphia. But more convenient for me if it's in South Philly.
#166 - Posted 12/22/07 @12:18AM by rushed again bb [contact]

Is the Giant Center in Hershey close enough to be considered Philly? I thought it was about an hour or so away.

Once again, no Kentucky dates. Guys, it's been over 20 years since you last played in the commonwealth (I know, I was at that show, Louisville Gardens, April 1987, Hold Your Fire Tour). And you know what, believe it or not there are several large venues in the state you could choose from. Why did you even think about one that not only was still under construction, but is also in a suburb of Cincinnati where you just played a few months ago? COME ON! There's Louisville, there's Lexington, there's Bowling Green. I'd like to see you guys one more time on my home turf.

To rushed again bb,
Atlantic City is closer to Philly than Philly is to Hershey. It's about an hour drive to Atlantic City from Philly. Hershey is a good 1 and a half to 2 hour drive from Philly. It's hard to believe they're saying Hershey is considered the Philly date.
Also I did some research and the boys did play the Wachovia Center on the Test for Echo tour. They only made one appearance there that I am aware of.

I hope they play in Philly along with the AC show also wall05. That would be awesome. I'd be very pleased for sure. We'll see....

My wife and I saw them at both Florida stops in 2007 and we'll be doing the same in 2008. However, I wish they were playing the new UCF Arena instead of the creaky old barn called the Amway Arena. Even the Orlando Magic want out of that building! I believe the last time Rush played there was on the Counterparts tour.

I sure hope Las Vegas will be added! A girl can hope!

I am glad that Oakland, CA is on the 2008 tour list. Would
be nice to have San Jose, CA as an additional date.

I wished they'd play closer to the Chesapeake Bay. How about at least a show in Maryland, Virginia is great for the college kids at UVA and Va. Tech but seriously - how many fans are in that age group that are really Rush fans? I guess they could snag a few folks from West Virginia also.

So if this is supposed to be a second leg type of tour they probably won't change any than 1 to 2 songs and rearrange the existing tracks. should drop Between The Wheels and Subdivisions and add Fly By Night/Grand Designs or Emotion Detector. If they want to play it safe: The Big Money and The Trees.

anyone know if they are playing anywhere in Indiana?

I live in Montana and drove 8 hrs to see them in Auburn,Wa at White River Amphitheatre so I'm stoked they might play the Gorge which is much closer. It's an outdoor venue as well but personally that's what I prefer. I think the seating is better for all but you do give up a little for the sound that an indoor event has to offer. Either way...I'd drive to Madagascar if that was the closest place to me. I envy you guys back east where you can travel 2-3 hrs in any direction and get to see them multiple times.

They also played the Wachovia Center in Philly in 2002. 10-27-02.
