UPDATE - 6/29@7:15AM: I finally was able to get some information regarding attendance/sellouts. The official attendance for the Mansfield show was listed at 19,902. That is one of the biggest attended shows in the U.S. for a Rush show ever and is a confirmed sellout along with Mohegan Sun, Red Rocks, and the first Toronto show.

The tour rolls on. Nine dates down, over 50 left to go. The setlist has remained constant from show to show and from all the anecdotal evidence attendance has been great. Pollstar.com currently lists the tour at #3 on their top 50 list. People are constantly uploading their photos to the tour gallery so go check it out if you have a chance - there are some great photos in there. I'm also adding bootlegs to the tour bootleg videos page as I come across them. If you come across any on YouTube or have your own, let me know. The Digital Rush Experience (DRE) is continually updating their database of bootlegs from the Snakes & Arrows tour; there are currently 10 boots cataloged. And if you're wondering how you can get your hands on one of these bootlegs please check out this blog post at the DRE.

John over at Cygnus-X1.net has transcribed the Snakes & Arrows tourbook. This includes the Neil Peart essay The Game of Snakes & Arrows and a few words from each of the band members; Alex interviews himself, Neil Peart discusses his new kit and Geddy Lee talks about his stage gear. Also included are a few scans of images with more to come later. Thanks John!

Don't forget to enter the Rush.net contest to win front row tickets or a meet-and-greet. Several great pics from the meet-and-greets are posted at this link.

The folks over at the Rush Tour Forum have created a banner that they've taken to every show so far. You can check out pictures of fans holding the banner from all 9 shows at this link.

Reader Bob B posted a great story over at The Rush Forum about how he got to play roadie for a day at the Bristow show. I just uploaded several backstage pics that he sent me over in the Bristow tour gallery too.

And there was a cool Rush tour-related sighting on the Late Show with David Letterman a couple nights ago. During the show some kind of siren went off and Dave took a call (or pretended to). A guy comes on the line and identifies himself as Josh from New Jersey. Dave then asks him for the phrase that pays and Josh says The Late Show is the place to be for hot summer fun. Dave then congratulated him and said, You've just won two tickets for Rush at Jones Beach on July 2!. Thanks to Senor Hubo from Rush Tour for the heads up. :)

The original lineup formed in September 1968, consisting of Jeff Jones on bass and vocals, John Rutsey on drums, and Alex Lifeson on guitars. Within a few days of forming (and before they had even played their first gig), Jones was replaced by Geddy Lee, a schoolmate of Lifeson. After this point the band experienced rapid personnel changes and lineup reformations before finally settling on its first officially recognized incarnation in May 1971: Lee, Lifeson and Rutsey. The band was managed by local Toronto resident Ray Danniels, a frequent attendee of Rush's early shows.

After gaining stability in the lineup and honing their skills on the local bar/high school dance circuit, the band came to release their first single "Not Fade Away", a cover of the Buddy Holly song, in 1973. Side B contained an original composition, "You Can't Fight It", credited to Rutsey and Lee. The single generated little reaction and, due to record company indifference, the band formed their own independent record label, Moon Records. With the aid of Danniels and the newly enlisted Terry Brown working in an unofficial capacity, the band released their self-titled debut album in 1974, which was considered highly derivative of Led Zeppelin.[15] Rush had limited local popularity until the album was picked up by WMMS, a radio station in Cleveland, Ohio. Donna Halper, a DJ working at the station, selected "Working Man" for her regular play list. The song's blue collar theme resonated with hard rock fans and this new found popularity led to the album being re-released by Mercury Records[20][21] in the U.S.
Rush (1974)
Rush (1974)

Immediately after the release of the debut album, Rutsey resigned due to his affliction with diabetes and a distaste for touring. Rush held auditions and eventually selected Peart as Rutsey's replacement. In addition to becoming the band's drummer, Peart assumed the role of principal lyricist as Lee and Lifeson had very little interest in writing, contributing to only a handful of song lyrics over the rest of the band's career. Instead, they focused primarily on the musical aspects of Rush. Fly by Night (1975), Rush's first album after recruiting Peart, saw the inclusion of the band's first mini-epic tale "By-Tor and the Snow Dog", replete with complex arrangements and multi-section format. Lyrical themes also underwent dramatic changes after the addition of Peart due to his love for fantasy and science-fiction literature. However, despite these many differences most of the music still closely mirrored the style found on Rush's debut.[22]

Following quickly on the heels of Fly By Night, the band released Caress of Steel (1975) a five track hard/art rock album featuring two extended multi-chapter songs, "The Necromancer" and "The Fountain of Lamneth." Caress of Steel was considered an audacious move for the band due to the placement of two protracted numbers back-to-back, as well as a heavier reliance on atmospherics and story-telling, a large deviation from Fly by Night. Intended to be the band's first "break-through" album, Caress of Steel sold below expectations and the promotional tour consisted of small venues which led to the moniker the "Down the Tubes Tour."[23] In light of these events, Rush's record label pressured them into molding their next album in a more commercially friendly and accessible fashion. However, in spite of such urges, the band ignored the requests and developed their next album, 2112. It was the band's first taste of commercial success and their first platinum album in Canada.[24] After the breakthrough of 2112, the band released their first U.S. Top 40 album, a double live album titled All the World's a Stage in 1976 which has been surmised by some to demarcate the boundary between the band's early years and the next era of music. After the highly acclaimed and well-received 2112, Rush followed up and delivered 1977's A Farewell to Kings (which became the band's first U.S. gold-selling album) and 1978's Hemispheres. These albums saw the band members pushing the prog rock envelope for Rush even further than before by expanding their use of progressive elements. Trademarks such as increased synthesizer usage, extended-length concept songs, and highly dynamic playing featuring complex time signature changes became a staple of Rush's compositions. To achieve a broader, progressive palette of sound, Alex Lifeson began to experiment with twelve- and six-string classical guitars, and Geddy Lee added bass-pedal synthesizers and Mini-Moog. Likewise, Peart's percussion became diversified in the form of triangles, glockenspiel, wood blocks, cowbells, timpani, gong and chimes. Beyond instrument additions, the band kept in stride with the progressive rock movement by continuing to compose long, conceptual songs with science fiction and fantasy overtones. However, as the new decade approached, Rush gradually began to dispose of their older styles of music in favor of shorter, and sometimes softer, arrangements. The lyrics up to this point (most of them written by Peart) were heavily influenced by classical poetry, fantasy literature, science fiction, and the writings of novelist Ayn Rand, as exhibited most prominently by their 1975 song "Anthem" from Fly By Night and a specifically acknowledged derivation in 1976's 2112.[26]

Permanent Waves (1980) shifted Rush's style of music dramatically via the introduction of reggae and new wave.[27] Although a hard rock style was still evident, more and more synthesizers were introduced. Moreover, due to the limited airplay Rush's previous extended-length songs received, Permanent Waves included shorter, more radio-friendly songs such as "The Spirit of Radio" and "Freewill", two songs which helped Permanent Waves become Rush's first U.S. Top 5 album; both songs continue to make appearances on classic rock radio stations in Canada and the United States to this day. Meanwhile, Peart's lyrics shifted toward an expository tone with subject matter that dwelled less on fantastical or allegorical story-telling and more heavily on cerebral topics that explored humanitarian, social, emotional and metaphysical elements.

Rush's popularity reached its pinnacle with the release of Moving Pictures in 1981. Moving Pictures essentially continued where Permanent Waves left off, extending the trend of highly accessible and commercially friendly pop-progressive rock that helped thrust them into the spotlight. The lead track, "Tom Sawyer", is probably the band's best-known song, and "Limelight" also received satisfactory responses from listeners and radio stations. Moving Pictures was Rush's last album to feature an extended song, the ten-and-a-half-minute "The Camera Eye". The song also contained the band's heaviest usage of synthesizers up to that point, hinting that Rush's music was shifting direction once more. Moving Pictures reached #3 on the Billboard 200 album chart and has been certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[28]

Following the success of Moving Pictures (and the completion of another four studio albums) Rush released their second live recording, Exit...Stage Left, in 1981. The album delineates the apex of Rush's progressive period by featuring live material from the band's successful Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures tours. As with their first live release, Exit...Stage Left identified the margin of a new chapter of Rush's sound. The band underwent another radical stylistic transmutation with the release of Signals in 1982.

While Geddy Lee's synthesizers had been featured instruments ever since the late 70s, 1982's Signals arguably represented Rush's most drastic stylistic transformation up to that point. Keyboards were suddenly shifted from a contrapuntal background to the melodic frontlines.[29][30] Traditional guitar solos also became less of a focal point as seen in "Countdown" and the lead-off track "Subdivisions", the latter track featuring a short solo using natural harmonic accents for minimalism.
Rush(The Body Electric Music Video, 1984)
Rush

Signals contained Rush's only U.S. top-40 pop hit, "New World Man",[31] while, musically, other more experimental songs such as "Digital Man", "The Weapon", and "Chemistry" expanded the band's use of ska, reggae, and funk.[32] More specifically, Alex Lifeson's guitar tone and playing style on Signals were very reminiscent of contemporary acts of the time who were well known for incorporating such rhythms into their music. Although the band members consciously decided to move in this overall direction, they felt dissatisfied with long-time producer Terry Brown's studio treatment of Signals and parted ways with him in 1983. These diverse styles would come into further play on their next studio album.

The style and production of Signals were patently augmented and taken to new heights on 1984's Grace Under Pressure. Although Geddy Lee's use of sequencers and synthesizers remained the band's cornerstone, his focus on new technology was complemented by Neil Peart's adaptation of electronic drums and percussion - a sonic evolutionary step similar to A Farewell to Kings. Alex Lifeson's contributions on the album were decidedly enhanced to act as an overreaction to the minimalistic role he played on Signals.[33] Still, many of his trademark guitar textures remained intact in the form of open reggae chords and funk and new-wave rhythms; "Red Lenses", "Red Sector A" and "The Enemy Within" serving as prime examples. Grace Under Pressure also featured a popular MTV music video for the anti-nuclear anthem "Distant Early Warning."

1985's Power Windows was followed by Hold Your Fire in 1987, both of which were produced by Peter Collins. The music on these two albums gives far more emphasis and prominence to Geddy Lee's multi-layered synthesizer work. However, Power Windows still builds somewhat on the momentum from Grace Under Pressure, even as it involves more sophisticated usage of sequencers and guitar minimalism. Alex Lifeson's presence is still palpable on "The Big Money", (the album's modest-charting single) with spotlights on "Grand Designs", "Middletown Dreams" and "Marathon." Lifeson, like many guitarists in the late 1980s, experimented with processors that reduced his instrument to echoey chord colorings and razor-thin leads. Hold Your Fire represents both a modest extension of the guitar stylings found on Power Windows, and the culmination of this era of Rush. Whereas the previous five Rush albums sold platinum or better, Hold Your Fire only went gold in 1987.

A third live album and video, A Show of Hands (1989), was also released by Mercury following the Power Windows and Hold Your Fire tours, demonstrating the aspects of Rush in the 80s. A Show of Hands met with strong fan approval, but Rolling Stone critic Michael Azerrad dismissed it as "musical muscle" with 1.5 stars, claiming Rush fans viewed their favorite power trio as "the holy trinity".[34] Nevertheless, A Show of Hands managed to surpass the gold album mark. At this point, the group changed record labels from Mercury to Atlantic. After Rush's departure in 1989, PolyGram also released a gold-selling two-volume compilation of their Rush catalog, Chronicles (1990).

Rush started to deviate from their 1980s style with the albums Presto and Roll the Bones. Produced by record engineer and musician Rupert Hine, these two albums saw Rush shedding much of their keyboard-saturated sound. Beginning with 1989's Presto, the band opted for arrangements that were notably more guitar-centric than the previous two studio albums. Although synthesizers were still used in many songs, the instrument was no longer featured as the centerpiece of Rush's compositions. Continuing this trend, 1991's Roll the Bones extended the use of the standard three-instrument approach with even less focus on synthesizers than its predecessor. While musically these albums do not deviate significantly from a general pop-rock sound, Rush stuck to their creative approach of incorporating traces of more exotic musical styles. "Roll the Bones", for instance, exhibits funk and hip hop elements, and the instrumental track "Where's My Thing?" (the band's first instrumental piece in a decade) features several jazz components.[35] This return to three-piece instrumentation helped pave the way for future albums in the mid-90s, which would adopt a more straightforward rock formula.

The transition from synthesizers to more guitar-oriented and organic instrumentation continued with the 1993 album Counterparts[36] and its follow-up, 1996's Test for Echo. Musically, Counterparts[36] and Test For Echo are two of Rush's most guitar-driven albums. Although the music in general did not meet the criteria for "progressive rock", some of the songs could be considered more adventurous than what one might expect from a standard modern rock band.[37] For instance, "Time and Motion" possesses multiple time signature changes and heavy organ, while the instrumental track "Limbo", consists of several distinct and relatively complex musical passages repeated throughout the duration. Musically, Test For Echo still retained much of the hard rock/alternative stylings already charted on the previous record. Lifeson and Lee's playing remained more or less unchanged; however, a distinct modification in technique became apparent in Peart's playing due to formal Jazz and Swing training under the tutelage of jazz drummer Freddie Gruber during the interim between Counterparts and Test For Echo.[38] In October 1996, in support of Test For Echo, the band embarked on an extensive and successful North American tour, the band's first without an opening act and dubbed "An Evening with Rush." The tour was broken up into two segments spanning October through December, 1996 and May through July, 1997 with the band taking a respite between legs.

The Police SUCK BUTT, why so much hype? They are no way better than RUSH. I can't stand the mainstream. And Stu Copeland - he tries too hard...

Snakes & Arrows (2006-present)

Main article: Snakes & Arrows

During promotional interviews for the R30 Live In Frankfurt DVD, the band revealed their intention to begin writing new material in early 2006. While in Toronto, Lifeson and Lee began the songwriting process in January 2006. During this time, Peart simultaneously assumed his role of lyric writing while residing in Southern California. That following September, Rush chose to hire American producer Nick Raskulinecz to co-produce the album. The band officially entered Allaire Studios, in Shokan, New York in November 2006 in order to record the bulk of the material. On February 14, 2007, an announcement was made on the the official Rush web site that the title of the new album would be Snakes & Arrows. It was released May 1, 2007 in North America, where it debuted at #3 in the Billboard 200 with approximately 93,000 units sold in its first week. The first single, entitled "Far Cry," was released to North American radio stations on March 12, 2007. The Rush website, newly redesigned on March 12, 2007 to support the new album, also announced that the band will embark on a tour to begin in the summer. The website now has North American and European tour dates listed. To coincide with the Atlantic ocean hurricane season, "Spindrift" was released as the official second radio single on June 1, 2007. The planned intercontinental tour in support of Snakes & Arrows began on June 13, 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia and is set to run through October.

Dang Kenster, you type really, really fast.....Love the fact that Alex is the only "original" member.....I also love the fact that the fellas have never, ever trashed John Rutsey.
#22 - Posted 6/28/07 @4:10PM by Scotto [contact]

Another Rutsey tid-bit, he threw Geddy Lee out of the band in their early days as Geddy's star was shining a bit too bright. In those days Rutsey was the strong personality. They eventually let Geddy back in the band......In an interview years later, Geddy said it was "boys being boys" and had no hard feelings towards Rutsey.......We all know now that Geddy is the strong personality of the band.

Oh God I heard and read about The Spice Girls reuion. I was about to puke after I read. They were terible when they toured the states 9 years ago. Tixs sales for them didn't do too well. Let's just hope is only one off gig. But I dod dig Geri Halliwell. She was fav spice girls than other spice chicks. Victoria look like wasn't happy when she was in that group. Scary Spice no comment on her. Sporty Spice became a rocker and look like Joan Jett. Baby Spice you don't hear from her after the split. Ginger Spice sexy as she can be. I love her but now she has a kid now. Oh Well!!!!!!

The Monkees, ... and the lord god himself Stephen Stills failed the audition due to bad teeth. He bumped into Neil Young a week later and the rest is history.
#49 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:32PM by limlight81 [contact]

It's funny to go through growing up and hearing that crap cause of your peers (GIRLS) just feel in love. My ex used to love MENUDO. I was like WTF is that gag me with the spoon. Then in the late 90's boys just makes me sick to my stomach. I was like dude what crap music is that. Back in my days it was music I mean real music. I don't get it back then and now today.
#50 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:41PM by joannee [contact]

I remember being the only girl listening to rock when I was in school and not having many girlfriends cause of that
#51 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:43PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Joannee.... If you went to my highschool... I woulda married you! Lol!
#52 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:46PM by limlight81 [contact]

Joaneee you are the coolest cat in the pub along with the other lovely ladies in the pub.
#53 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:46PM by joannee [contact]

I ended up marrying a rocker, just not a huge Rush fan, believe it or not. He appreciates their skills but won't even listen to their newer stuff
#54 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:49PM by joannee [contact]

Thanks guys, where are all the Rush girls tonite?
#55 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:52PM by Spindrifter [contact]

Speaking of lovely ladies (looking over shoulder for flying tupperware) where have GG, Pwrgirl been?

I know that Light Years went to her show last night and had a blast!
#56 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:56PM by limlight81 [contact]

I have been chatting with Rush Princess but Debbie,Geedy Girl and Pwgirl. Is nowhere in sight. Pretty odd eh!
#57 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:56PM by analogkid [contact]

Today was an awesome day.

Two great things happened. (1) I got my Rush MVI in the mail, (2) I just got back from seeing Genesis play live in concert.

The MVI is cool. I love to watch the boyz in their element. It is always a treat seeing them this way. But what the heck was Neil wearing during his commentary? What kind of suit jacket did he have on? It was too damn small for him and just god awful ugly... But he is still da' man. Okay, don't get mad at me, but does anyone else think his new drumset is kinda ugly? It sounds great, yes, but it just doesn't look that good to me. I don't want to start ANOTHER opinion thread about how everyone is entitled to their own opinions, just my own viewpoint. It isn't a good color combo, just doesn't match well.

Now Genesis... They played a HUGE outdoor soccer stadium here in Germany. There must have been 70,000 people, it was filled except the sets behind the stage of course. They rocked the old stuff. It was great. They played "In The Cage" and it was off the hook. "Mama" was killer, and so was "Home By The Sea" along "Domino I and II" The drum duet with Chester Thompson was excellent. But the highlight for me was "In The Cage" that song just "roasted" I recently heard someone some that...

My $0.02
#58 - Posted 6/28/07 @6:59PM by limlight81 [contact]

How apporatie analogkid I'm glad you had a great time of seeing Genesis. I have a few albums from them. I do like Home By The Sea. Yes of course MAMA is one of their best of all.
#59 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:02PM by Spindrifter [contact]

(gulp) I feel like a complete dumbass... For the moment, I forgot about Deb and Rush Princess! Ugh.... Where did I blow a memory circuit?

Am outta here to go dwell on the fact of losing my memory!

Cya all l8tr and hope that all have a great eve!

Remember what I wrote earlier.... I want everyone in here tomorrow and lets kick off a Rush weekend!
#60 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:09PM by analogkid [contact]

Mama,Mama, Mama now please
Can't you feel my heart
Now listen me here Mama
Your taken away my last chance
Don't take it away
Can't you feel my heart

Sorry guys, after listening to Rush NONSTOP for months it was nice to actually do something different and have the chance to see Genesis Live. Something new and a good change of pace. Don't worry Rush is still my fav, I'm just still a little stoked up over tonights concert.
#61 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:10PM by Bravest Face [contact]

Evening, Spin, I will be in here some tomorrow, but tomorrow is my 5 year wedding anniversary so must spend some time with the wife tomorrow night! ;)
#62 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:11PM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

Did they due Man on the corner, 2nd Home by the see, Just a job to do,turn it on again, or paperlate?
#63 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:12PM by RushPrincess [contact]

#50 ~ Joannee, I completely understand. My school years were the same. I also married a rocker, who enjoys RUSH. He doesn't quite have the same passion for them as I do, but he does appreciate them.
#64 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:12PM by analogkid [contact]

BF, congrats on the 5 years.
#65 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:16PM by analogkid [contact]

Yes, they did Man on the Corner, and also 2nd Home by the Sea. Both were excellent. Not the others you mentioned. No ABACAB either, I wanted to see that one.

"In The Cage" was OFF THE HOOK.

I gotta listen to that one again, but I gotta pull it out of "the vault" first. It is killer.
#66 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:17PM by Bravest Face [contact]

Analogkid, thanks, sometimes it feels like 10! lol Just kidding, I love my wife, but she is not much into rock or Rush. She has been to two Rush shows with me and she would have gone to the Cincy show this year had her cousin's wedding not come up. She recognizes a lot of their songs and can listen to them when I have them on, but she's more into showtunes, etc.
#67 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:18PM by Bravest Face [contact]

Interestingly enough, she went to her first Rush show on the VT tour only about a month after we got married.
#68 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:20PM by joannee [contact]

BF,showtunes??????
#69 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:21PM by analogkid [contact]

BF, I took my wife to the Feedback tour. She liked some of it. However, after they played "The Seeker" she turns to me and says, "Now that one I liked" She had no clue, and I just kept on with a small smile.
#70 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:21PM by joannee [contact]

congrats on 5 yrs!
#71 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:27PM by limlight81 [contact]

Hello Rush Princess welcome to the pub.
#72 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:28PM by Bravest Face [contact]

Joannee, thanks. Yep, showtunes, stuff like Rent, Wicked, The Lion King, etc. Fortunately she doesn't bombard me with that stuff like I do her with Rush! :)
#73 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:32PM by limlight81 [contact]

my ex didn't care for my kind of music. But she did like Guns N Roses Sweet Child 'Ol Mine. Thats about it. She couldn't stand RUSH during my hay days of the 80's. But I was into Duran Duran,English Beat,Modern English,INXS,U2,The CUre. The music back then was the shit.
#74 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:33PM by joannee [contact]

BF, my hubby cringes when I'm on a cleaning spree 'cause I blast the biggest system in the house and have blown up some pretty expensive tweeters (between Geddy's high notes and Alex's )
#75 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:39PM by limlight81 [contact]

Bloody hell it's offical Spice Girls is touring
#76 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:41PM by Bravest Face [contact]

Wonder how well that tour's going to sell? ;0 lol
#77 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:44PM by RushPrincess [contact]

Hey Lime!

Joanne ... Isn't that the only way to get the cleaning done?
#78 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:48PM by limlight81 [contact]

I'm sure it will do the same 9 years ago. I wonder if they got their shit together eh!.BUCH
#79 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:49PM by limlight81 [contact]

LOL Good one RushPrincess
#80 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:50PM by Bravest Face [contact]

Lim, I can't see too many people spending hard earned cash to hear a group that wasn't good to begin with who hasn't done anything or been around in years. I don't know, maybe I just give people too much credit. lol
#81 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:50PM by joannee [contact]

Rush Princess - yes it is. Piss my neighbors off,too when I'm out there doing yard work. Live in florida, so half my neighbors are pretty old.
#82 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:53PM by limlight81 [contact]

Face I couldn't agree with you. I never like them when they came out. I just like the movie they made and the lovely Geri Halliwell. But other than that I really don't care for them. Sure enough the tixs sales will sucks and bet my money that the performance will sound shity overall.
#83 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:57PM by Bravest Face [contact]

Lim, I forgot about the movie! lol Probably because I didn't see it. Wonder if somebody some drug habit that they need dough for? Okay, I guess that's hitting below the belt! :)
#84 - Posted 6/28/07 @7:58PM by RushPrincess [contact]

Joannee ~ The funny part about this conversation is that I am actually doing some cleaning right now. I have the S&A MVI cranked in my system, the computer is on in the corner of the room, and every so often I am checking in on the conversation..... and then you posted the comment about cleaning sprees.
Hmmmmmmmmm

#87 - Posted 6/28/07 @8:23PM by Rob

Aaron, I have not received mine either! F*** Best Buy!!
#88 - Posted 6/28/07 @8:28PM by Bravest Face [contact]

Rob, yeah, it sounds like there are several of us that haven't received it yet. I didn't order mine through Best Buy though, I ordered through the Backstage club thingy, or whatever its called through the official Rush site. Damn, I wish now I had just waited to buy it in the store!
#89 - Posted 6/28/07 @8:32PM by Rob

Well they scared us into pre-ordering it because it was a limited edition, but hell! sure enough..I can drive up to BB tonight and buy the damn thing! I did get a email saying it's on the way
#90 - Posted 6/28/07 @8:35PM by Bravest Face [contact]

Rob, yeah I got an email, about a week ago! Many people have been getting these update emails tracking the shipping, but I haven't even gotten that, only the original email saying it was being shipped. For all I know it's sitting in a warehouse somewhere.
#91 - Posted 6/28/07 @8:44PM by Rob

Well we waited this long....what's another couple days?

Btw I just sent you an email

#96 - Posted 6/28/07 @9:09PM by rmull [contact]

Hey BF. I just got my MVI in the mail today. Ordered it from Amazon for $15. You should give the backstage club a call if you haven't gotten an email from them.

The boys were incredible last night. I still can't speak due to all the crazy screaming I was doing. Good thing I had ear plugs in because I'm already going deaf from the amount of concerts I've been to over the years.

I was 5 rows back from Big AL and I could have sworn that the barbie dolls had their backs to him during the first half of the show. Maybe he p*&&ed them off!

Rmull, I'm going to give it tomorrow and Saturday, and if nothing, then Monday morning I will definitely be giving someone a call.
#99 - Posted 6/28/07 @9:19PM by rmull [contact]

Another option, buy one at best buy and when your copy comes in, return the unpoened on to best buy.

Just a thought.

How messed up is that?

FYI I have heard from an local Atlantic Rep that the MVI is not 25,000 copies but that it is just under the label of limited edition for the year.

No official number of 25k so who knows it might be 50k.

I somewhat have a life somewhat don't. I was at a friends prop shop looking at some wardrobe he made for a show called "Heroes". Intricate leather patterns. He's a pro. Made the mr. Freeze outfit for Batman. I'm learning alot while my regular show is on vacation"hiatus". It's pretty late where you are, huh?

ReHi, P/G; and yes, Rush does deserve favorable reviews, A? :)

Ahh, Kenster... ...You so tax my mind. Tres Bien! :)

but the pay is good. What hospital do you work at?
#126 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:11AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

I'm allergic to hospitals! Recently had my left arm,and shoulder operated on.3/4 times. After, All i got was Vicodin,Vicodin, vicodin! Synthetic heroin. Made me worse than I was. Aweful! Aren't there any other painkillers that aren't opiate derivatives?

PG- is xanax addictive?
#128 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:12AM by Pwrgirl [contact]

I think David Letterman probably loves RUSH's Snakes and Arrows! I would absolutely LOVE to see the guys on his show. They don't have to play! Just go on and support their CD! But hey! If they want to play on the old Ed Sullivan theater...that would be COOL! SOOOO many RUSH fans would watch! And Dave knows this;)
#129 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:13AM by maestro [contact]

I named our new kitten Geddy, thats pretty sad isn't it?
#134 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:19AM by maestro [contact]

Yes, Kenster... ...This tidbit is true, according to my 'research' (Can't remember where I picked that up -it's been a long road- but, it does seem plausable. I think it might of been from an interview in Circus Magazine. Not sure.)
#135 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:20AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

If it's a male , no problem. I had to tiger oscars in my fish tank as a kid. One was By-tor, and the other Snowdog!

Big virtual wave to Maestro!

Ken, yes. Xanax is VERY addictive! Can produce seizures if a few doses have been skipped if one has taken said medication for a long period of time. Just a heads up. LOL!

Perm! The pay doesn't suck. But it's super-stressful. Almost every week I want to quit. But it is satisfying in a way, because I literally do the best I can every time I'm there. I know your wife does, too! Give her a hello from me, OK? We nurses know how bad it can be.

I work at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. My floor holds 40 beds.

Anyway! Enough about me. How are you guys?
#140 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:24AM by Pwrgirl [contact]

A Kat???? What in the heck??
#141 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:26AM by maestro [contact]

Export this time. I usually drink Hieneken, but that was before budgeting for Snakes & Arrows... :)

Corona is good.
LaBatts is good.
Foster's is good.

No more Bacardi for me -for a while; it gets me into too much trouble...
#142 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:26AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

Yeah, nursing is pretty tough, according to my sources. I understand how tough it can be, P/G -at least a little bit.

Big Virtual Wave to P/G! :)

don't quite understand your post. Is it meant to be positive? If so, I support thee. I play HOPE 3x's in a row and it's like one long song.
#154 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:52AM by maestro [contact]

Kenster: Painkillers? Analgesics? Vicodin (Hydrocodone)? Others (non-narcotic)? Tramodol comes to mind. It works.

(I've recently recovered from surgery for a inginual hernia... ...went through a whole slew of pain relievers!)

P/G... ...What is the commercial name for Tramodol?
I can't recall at the moment.

(Am I spelling that correctly?)
#155 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:55AM by maestro [contact]

#156 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:57AM by maestro [contact]

Slipping off the dashboard?
What are you doing up there?
Get back behind the wheel before we get in a wreck, dude! :)
#157 - Posted 6/29/07 @2:59AM by Pwrgirl [contact]

Oh man...a test. Tramadol. Ultram 50mg. Do I pass? ;P
#158 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:01AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

I think it's toroidal. While my left arm was healing, I overused my right side and got a non-incarcerated right inguinal hernia. I could do nothing but stand. If I sat ,I'd have to push my intestines back in. Kinda neat but nasty on yourself! In the back round I hear" some are blessed and some are cursed. Fitting. thank god for god!
#159 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:03AM by maestro [contact]

Ultram in 50mg and 100mg... That's right! [Not a test, sweet... it honestly had slipped my mind... ..but you pass nonetheless :) ]

Wanna 'real' test?

Three 'D' painkillers. :)
#160 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:03AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

Ultrams are skinny little oval pills right?
#161 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:06AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

Nothing some purple urkle bubba kush can't fix!
#162 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:09AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

Maestro-#151 was to see who was paying attention.#156 Although people do that here while putting make-up on,with a phone in the other hand!

#164 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:11AM by Pwrgirl [contact]

I never see the 100 mg. Ultram in our hospital. Too wimpy? But we do carry Dilaudid. The massive, incredible drug that seems to do wonders for surgical patients. Morphine is light-weight in comparison. Just another heads-up for future surgical patients on RIAB! LOL!

OK! How about some music before I watch THE DEPARTED with my kids?
#165 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:12AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

medication time back in 5
#166 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:13AM by maestro [contact]

My hernia was also on the right, but not so intense as that... ...I didn't like to sit down because it was hell to stand up afterwards. The surgery was brief, but the recovery was rather intense... ...I started with Norcos and they tapered me down to Hydrocodone, then Tramadol.

I just love my PDR; 'Tis 'The Wizards's Handbook' :)

{Just kidding... ...Maestro knows 'The Schedual.'}
#167 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:16AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

Morphine is worse than Vicodin. Especially when they say,"you can't eat after midnight" What's that about? If I was in a car wreck right after lunch and needed surgery would they say no because I've got a full stomach and I've eaten since way after midnight. Doesn't make sense!
#168 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:18AM by kenster2112@sbcglobal.net [contact]

Healing from that is a be-atch. I'm just able to do sit-ups and it's just been a year.
#169 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:19AM by maestro [contact]

5 conversations at once?
Yes. It's kinda fun.

P/G: I haven't seen the 100mg variety either, but I do know they exist.

Dilaudid...

One of the three D's!

Another Post OP and an often prescribed, and you pass!

:)

#171 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:22AM by Pwrgirl [contact]

You can aspirate the contents from your stomach during surgery if you aren't nothing by mouth for at least 6 to 8 hours. It sounds trivial, but it's something that can happen.

I'm going to go and watch this film with my kids, guys!

Take care! Hope to talk to ya'll soon!
#172 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:24AM by maestro [contact]

"You can't eat after midnight" because of anestesia -I think...

But emergency surgery is different, I would think. I mean if your unconscious already...

And Morphene is pretty tough.
Ahhh... ...The Opium Poppy.

That's what I call rea; 'Flower Power!' :)

#174 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:47AM by Scotto [contact]

Remember Rush fans, no spicey foods or dairy products are to be consumed on the day of a Rush concert.

This is in honor of the great Geddy Lee, who is on the "bland" foot diet while on tour so his voice can hit all the proper notes.

(Heard it from Geddy himself on an interview picked up here at this awesome blog)
#175 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:54AM by SF in Prague [contact]

Analgesics, slutty spice, 5-way sound, imported beers (not mentioning Czech beers!!?!?!?!)....this is a pretty interesting post! But in the next few hours we ought to Rushify it a bit so as to follow Spin's good advice that we lauch a real big fat Rush Weekend!!!
#176 - Posted 6/29/07 @3:56AM by Scotto [contact]

I pulled the following email post from The National Midnight Star, honestly I want what he has been smoking, sorry folks, 2112 and Moving Pictures are my 1 - 2. If we are talking underrated we can start with Presto or Test For Echo.

"Date: Wed, 27 Mar 91 17:43:55 EST

Subject: Power Windows Reappreciated

I've been listening to Power Windows more intently than ever before and I really think that it has been underrated compared to Moving Pictures or 2112."

not necessarily particularly relevant to rush (although they did support them a few times) but just got back from an aerosmith gig in dublin 9i live in scotland) and it was truly awesome!! Having Chris Cornell as support was a dream come true also...anyway my point is, I've been to see loads of pretty big gigs now and I tell you what the irish security are by far the best ive ever seen at a gig and think i should praise them somewhere (on a aerosmith fanzing probably iknow i know, but rush are the only band i like enough to actualyl join a site!). They really put the crowd at ease and were joking about with us, taking our cameras off us, so they could take pictures for us, they played with us with beach balls, joked about with eachother and set up probably the best atmosphere ive ever experienced at a gig...so well dont to the irish events staff....

also relevant is that i was a the front row of the runway and got a wee glimpse off chris cornell (fronted soundgarden/audioslave if you dont know him) when he was right in front of me and i shouted working man at him cos audioslave covered that on their tours....and he smiled at that suggestion...made my day!!

anyway, i'm loving all the tour anecdotes and cant wait til rush come to london...

Oracle, thanks. Yeah, I probably will go nuclear if it doesn't come at least by tomorrow. I have decided if it isn't in the mail tomorrow, I'm calling the Backstage Club early Monday morning to bitch! I could understand more if this were Best Buy or Amazon, but I figured this would be the best option, so much for that idea! ;0

Oh well, at least I am not waiting on five things, Oracle, only one! I was going to go ahead and order the tourbook and a S&A t-shirt, but I am holding off right now due to some money issues, but one day I will have these. I wanted to see if they had any posters, but none could I find online. If I can get all my shit before the Cincy show that would keep from having to carry all that crap around and risk some idiot from spilling beer on my shit! :)

Happy Friday to all!!!

Hi GeddyGirl - nice to see you back again!

This whole MVI thing is starting to tick me off a bit. Mine didn't come yet and it looks like there are LOTS of us who pre-ordered and are still waiting.

I got burned with the CD because I pre-ordered and didn't get it until 3 or 4 days after it was in stores.

Now this crap with the MVI!!!!

Tickets are the only thing I will pre-order from now on.
#189 - Posted 6/29/07 @9:22AM by Lamb Saag [contact]

Did anyone see the meet-n-greet pics? In almost all of them Geddy looks bored and standoff-ish, but at the end there's an attractive single girl: he moves in close to sandwich her between Alex, gives a toothy grin, and squeezes his arm around her middle.

Whatsa matter, Geddy? The dudes with chin-beards aren't appealing enough?
#190 - Posted 6/29/07 @9:34AM by Bravest Face [contact]

Lamb, where can you see the meet-n-greet pics at? humorous :)

FarCry, I am with you, I have decided to hell with all of this pre-order shit!! I bought the whole, oh, this is a limited edition, better get yours crap!! Never again!
#191 - Posted 6/29/07 @10:55AM by Liverpool.78

It seems really weird and inconsistent that some of you poor guys and gals are still waiting for your pre-ordered MVIs. Mine arrived here in the UK 6 days before the official release date, ordered from the Backstage club.

I can understand you being pissed off, especially as it seems to be quite widely available in the shops. The same can't be said for this side of The Big Pond. I haven't seen it anywhere yet.

#195 - Posted 6/29/07 @11:18AM by Bravest Face [contact]

Liver, yeah I find that very interesting that you got yours so early while some of us still wait. I have never had much faith in the U.S. Postal Service, so it only seems natural that I am going to shuffle some of the blame for this on them! The exact reason why I ordered this is what you say about the stores over there, I feared that none would be available, however, judging from what many people have to say, that doesn't seem to be the case here.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it comes today!

HAMLET: To be, or not to be -that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The SNAKES & ARROWS of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them. To die, to sleep
-No more- and by a sleep to say we end
The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks
THAT THE FLESH IS HEIR TO. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep--
TO SLEEP -PERCHANCE TO DREAM: ay, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must surely give us pause.

Those attendance figures seem kind of low. 10,000 empty seats in Charlotte? Should we be worried? Are these numbers reliable?

Anyway, it's good that there are some sellout shows, and I hope there will be more. Maybe they ought to take the show to Brazil again?
#215 - Posted 6/30/07 @12:27AM by Bravest Face [contact]

Pat, I was in Charlotte and I have a hard time believing there were 10,000 empty seats, let me just put it that way!
Attendance seemed pretty strong to me!
#216 - Posted 6/30/07 @12:52AM by jittles [contact]

I'm a bit surprised by these figures. Atlanta seems about right, though I guessed closer to 10k at the time. Tampa really surprised me as that place looked packed to me. Even the lawn. Loved that facility. I think Rush would draw better in Atlanta if they didn't play Hi-Fi Buys again. It's an older place somewhat off the beaten path and in an urban neighborhood. Not an attractive draw especially on a weeknight. They're building a new (albeit smaller) amphitheater in the northern suburbs. Hopefully next time around they'll get booked there.
