Neil Peart Motorcyclist Magazine article
Posted at 10:01 AM | comments (20)

Neil and MichaelAs Neil Peart had mentioned in his last news update on his website, the May 2007 issue of Motorcylist Magazine contained an article written by Neil about his favorite motorcycle destinations on the R30 tour. Thanks to r60man I've obtained a scan of the article. The article contains many very cool photographs as well as several excerpts from Neil's latest book, Roadshow. Many of these photographs will no doubt show up in Neil's new book, The Roadshow Illustrated Companion, which releases this fall. Use the links below to access the pdfs.

What I wouldn't give to have that bike...those BMW's they haul ass. I have a friend who has one...more of a sport version than the touring version...those bikes are major...and they can take a beating too.

Cool photos of Pratt all over the place...as if it's not enough he's a musical god, on covers of drum mags for decades, now he's a Motorcycle star!!! And geddy's got his fingers in all sorts of comedy, and Big Al?? Well he just keeps blowing us away!!!!

Being a West Virginia native, I couldn't be more excited that he chose Elkins, WV as the #1 place from his R30 tour... I mean after all those miles, especially in the western US and Europe!

What you can't help but notice in all of those photos is the big shit eating grin Neil has in them. He loves his bike and riding. Like I do. Glad you all enjoy the article.

Good for Neil! Personally, I would probably kill myself on one of those things! Wouldn't it be neat to run into Neil somewhere while he was out on tour riding his bike. Just stop in at some diner somewhere or what have you and there's Neil.

Yeah, Aaron, my buddy is fantasizing about running into Neal somewhere in Florida during this tour. We'll be riding Harleys (plus one Triumph) to Atlanta, West Palm Beach, Tampa, and then back home. Jay sez he wouldn't be a Rush superfan...would just say hi, nice bike, and maybe talk about riding for a few minutes.

I told him that if Neal saw a bunch of guys on Harleys approaching that he'd disappear in a hurry! I can just picture Neal at the gas pump looking up to see us pull in. He'd probably exclaim, "Oh, sh*t!", yank the nozzle out of the tank, hop on, and BE GONE in no time flat. (o;}

Or Neil, even! One day, I'm going to spell it right. At least I can pronounce "Peart" properly! LOL

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that we'll all be wearing Rush tees. A real Neil nightmare! rofl

Shane,
Toast the newlyweds, drink all of the free brew for all of us here with cyber brews in the pub and I would say for you to mack on the bride.... But, hmm, shes your cousin so that wouldnt be a kewl thing to do!

Am unable to pull up the pages for some reason!

BMW makes some nice cars.... But, makes are truly awesome bikes! I asked for one for Xmas and Mrs. Claus told me that I already have enough problems (knee) that I cannot afford anymore.... I told her that I would ride with training wheels and she said, no! Guess that she worried about me hurting myself again!

Just isnt fair! Nope, just isnt!

Those beemers are pretty reasonable as far as good bikes go...I got on the web site a few months ago and went through all the options. I know what I would buy if I could afford it, but then again at my age I'd be playing with fire. I haven't ridden in years...the last time was coming down a steep canyon road in Utah on a little on/off road bike with not the best brakes and it was a busy time in the canyon so I was constantly facing oncoming traffic while staring into a setting sun as I rounded each treacherous corner. Gee, maybe there is a reason I decided to wait on buying that new bike those many years ago.

But still...to have a BMW like that one...I think I could handle it.

Great to see one of my favorite places makes Peart's list at #2...Taos, New Mexico!! Just a short drive from Albuquerque...my wife and I have had some great times in Taos, always discuss how cool it would be to have a Neil Peart siting...approach with caution of course!!
#14 - Posted 5/23/07 @4:51PM by Spindrifter [contact]

For some dumba** reason I cannot pull the pages up. Did Washington make the list?
#15 - Posted 5/23/07 @5:03PM by jediyyz [contact]

Yeah Spin...came in right after Taos at #3!!

Hi ya'll, not been around for a while; wife in hospital with a broken ankle [fell off her bike in the woods last night- needs a pin and plate operation] just catching up with the hews and everyone's views. Good to know that you're all still here!

Neil loves these bikes. I think that if he could spend the rest of his life riding them he would be happy. [I don't know about the rest of us though]. Thank goodness he has a personal manager who says," Neil, it's time to get back to work."!
