#27- I was just thinking about that, the other day. Seems like it might be about time for another "News, weather and sports" from Neil, pretty soon. Usually ,he goes and spends some time at his Quebec house this time of year and does the snow-shoeing ,etc. and some....writing. Maybe any time now, Jupe.

and is there a video?

I'm feeling really stupid about now, but I had no idea they released the Grace Under Pressure tour from 1984. Apparently I was under a rock from 1999 to 2007.

Here's a recent article/interview with drummer Gary McCracken of Max Webster.

#20-Your post about Max reminded me of a story. This happened when Max was pretty much at their peak, I think "A Million Vacations" had just been released but anywho, years ago Q107 in Toronto used to have guest dj's come in and spin tunes with the host.I forget who the host was but I remember Gary McCracken(drummer for Max Webster, for those who may not know) was one of the guest dj's, so at the end of his time the host says "So Gary, before you leave do you have some advice for any young, upcoming drummers out there?", and McCracken says "well the best advice I can give would be- the quality of your performance is directly related to the quality of the dope you smoke before the show." So then there was this awkward pause and then the host thanked him and that was it.

Slightly off topic... but perhaps related due to Permanent Waves being discussed here...

Stumbled across this recent interview on a Vancouver radio station, Classic Rock 101, from Jan 17th, 2014, where Kim Mitchell talks about Rush a bit and describes the interesting Max Webster connection to The Spirit of Radio... for your Rush song "factoid" collection (sorry, but no spoiler here... you gotta go listen for it). Rush bit starts with a caller at around 5:38 and goes to 8:36. Several other interesting & funny Kim rock/interview stories, including Jay Leno, Mick Jagger, Burton Cummings... so I recommend listening to the whole thing (15:29). Enjoy.

Cheers!

The following bit is in regards to the 'Permanent Waves' album cover.

JM - Who's the smiling gent leaning next to the crosswalk sign?

HS - None of your business!

#13 Lamb-The original Puppet King on AFTK was Josh Anderson from the Ian Thomas Band.

Congrats Jim! That D was one of the best in NFL history! Next to the 2000 Ravens of course....;)

So...

Has anyone noticed the placement of Hugh's arms in Perm. Waves?

His right arm (left as you look at him) points directly outward toward the 9:00 position...

His left arm (right as you look at him) points to the upper right, around the 2:00 position...

Similar to the clockface on Clockwork Angels...

Military Time: 21:12...

Coincidence? Overreaching?

Yea well JiminSeattle, I bet you cant even name the 8 lucky sounds that Rush makes, So ha.

Very cool article. I read somewhere that it was a roadie who posed as the king, and Skip Gildersleeve's name comes to mind.

But now we know... ... "the rest of the story!"

Thanks all, as wonderful as that was last night it was a shocker. I was hoping for a close competitive game, man that was just a blowout.

Interesting article-even in those days Rush managed to get a model to do an album cover. Continuing the thread on 29 Jan which I started-it takes a Brit-Amazing win by Seahawks yesterday-bet they are Sleepless in Seattle. That was a turn up 43-8 as Broncos were favourites. I guess the parade of trophy will bring Seattle to a standstill whenever it takes place.Lovely city visited several times and did Cascade mountains rail trip to Vancouver as well.
Congrats to all
