Rush heard at SXSW

Mon, Mar 20, 2006@10:47AM | comments removed/disabled

[SXSW fest of beer, BBQ & music]

Rush made an appearance (indirectly) at this year's SXSW music festival via the Beastie Boys:

When the Beastie Boys kicked off their not-so-secret secret set in the backyard of Stubb's BBQ shack by spinning Rush's Tom Sawyer last Thursday night, it was unexpected but not at all unusual. At this year's South by Southwest music festival, many highlights came from small shows by big names, the outdoor Texan atmosphere, and the sound of Canadians. ...

This Tom Sawyer mix was first heard back in 1998 when Mix Master Mike joined the Beastie Boys and performed it on their 1998 tour. You can listen to a live version of the track here.
