[VERTICAL HORIZON RETURNS WITH 'BURNING THE DAYS'; FIRST CD IN NEARLY FOUR YEARS TO BE RELEASED AUGUST 25TH]

Over three years ago now, Neil Peart let us all know about a side project he was working on involving his friend Matt Scannell and Matt's band Vertical Horizon in one of his News updates on his website. Neil and Matt had become friends when Neil moved to Los Angeles as he describes in his two most recent books Roadshow and Travelling Music. Neil contributed the lyrics to a Vertical Horizon song titled Even Now and also played drums on three tracks for the band's next album as Matt describes in this interview from back in 2007. That album was put on hold for a long time for various reasons but we learned back in April that it would be titled Burning The Days and finally see the light of day this summer. We now have more details regarding the release including the release date and the names of songs that Neil Peart plays drums on; namely Save Me From Myself, Even Now and Welcome to the Bottom. Save Me From Myself is the first single from the album and can be heard on the band's MySpace page. The CD is the band's first in nearly 4 years and will be released on August 25th. Thanks to RushFanForever for the heads up.
