Rush 2008 Snakes & Arrows tour update

Tue, Jan 15, 2008@9:25PM | comments removed/disabled

UPDATE - 1/18@7:37AM: I know I said I wouldn't make any more updates but... Dates are starting to pop up on Ticketmaster. That Pittsburgh show is going to happen on July 2nd. It also looks like January 26th will be the date the first round of tickets go on sale; this is the case for the Detroit show with pre-sales beginning on the Tuesday Monday prior (Jan. 21).

UPDATE - 1/18@12:03AM: It's official - Rush.com sent out an email. The dates will be announced tomorrow at 8AM. I have a post up where I'll put the official dates when we get them. I'll stop updating this post now. But before I do... I have one last update. The Milwaukee date is on but it will be at the Marcus Amphitheater instead of the US Cellular Arena and will take place on June 27th. Thanks to dcd2112 for the heads up.

UPDATE - 1/17@9:40PM: Ticketmaster now has info for the St. Louis show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. They have it set for June 28th with tickets on sale March 1st. Thanks to Tom for the heads up.

UPDATE - 1/17@9:02PM: I have a tentative date of July 9th for the Toronto show at the Molson Amphitheater. It may change but it should be thereabouts at least. Thanks dinorushman for the info!

UPDATE - 1/17@2:33PM: Here is a hidden livenation link for the Albuquerque show that reader Bruce dug up. It lists the on-sale date as Saturday, Feb. 2 at 10AM and also has information for a radio-sponsored pre-sale through KZRR. This tells me that they may have delayed the date for the first round of ticket sales to Saturday February 2nd rather than January 26th. This would not surprise me at all in light of all the other delays. It's looking more and more likely that tomorrow will be the big day for the tour announcement.

UPDATE - 1/17@10:09AM: Several more dates! It's starting to all come together. The Dallas show at Smirnoff is a go and will occur on April 25th. Also a go is the Reno Events Center show; it will happen on May 3rd. The Gorge show will be on May 31st, the Clark County Amphitheater show will be on June 1st, Red Rocks on June 5th, the Verizon Wireless show in Manchester on July 11th, the Philadelphia show at Wachovia on June 14th, and the Hersheypark Stadium show will be on July 17th. Many thanks to dinorushman for the info.

UPDATE - 1/16@9:41PM: Ok. I managed to confuse myself. There are just too damn many Verizon Wireless Arenas! There is no Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, MA - it's in Manchester, NH... and it's not pending. :) Thanks to Jack for pointing it out.

UPDATE - 1/16@9:32PM: The Manchester, NH date should be in the pending column; I'd just forgotten it yesterday. One note on when tickets go on sale. They won't all go on sale January 26th; just the first batch of dates. Pre-sales typically occur the week prior. If the fan pre-sale works like it did last time, it will occur on the Tuesday prior to tickets going on sale. Then there may also be a Ticketmaster and/or AMEX pre-sale a day or two prior.

UPDATE - 1/16@5:05PM: OOPS! Meant May 11th for the Irvine show... fat fingers.

UPDATE - 1/16@4:40PM: The Irvine show will occur on May 15th 11th and the LA show has been moved to pending for the time being.

UPDATE - 1/16@1:36PM: WAAF out of Boston is listing the Tweeter Center show as happening on June 15th (thanks Cindy). I also have another pending date to report; the Constellation Performing Arts Center (CMAC) in Rochester, NY (thanks Scott).

UPDATE - 1/16@9:58AM: I'd forgotten to add the SPAC in Saratoga Springs to the pending list. I also wanted to clear up some confusion on something related to this venue. On their website, they still have a rotating image banner up from last summer on their concerts page which shows the June 30, 2007 Rush show. This banner is outdated; they really need to take it down. It appears that they might do a show there this summer but it will not be on June 30th.

Hopefully this will be my last post before the release of the official tour dates. Still no news on when that will occur though; it could be any minute now (or a couple days from now). I've shuffled and reorganized my list a bit, splitting out the Canadian and South American venues, which haven't really changed much at all. Where the picture is the most fuzzy is with the US dates, especially in the East and Midwest. It appears that most of the US venues are shifting to favor the outdoor sheds. The St. Louis show looks like it will now take place at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre rather than the Scottrade Center. The Boston show has moved from TD Banknorth Garden to the Tweeter Center and/or . The Hershey, PA show will be at the Hersheypark Stadium Star Pavilion rather than the Giant Center.

I've also received a lot of new pending venues, most of which are outdoor facilities. New to the list are the Reno Events Center in Reno, NV; the Bank Atlantic Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL; the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, MA; the Post Gazette Pavilion in Pittsburgh, PA; the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Indianapolis, IN; the i Wireless Center in Moline, IL; the Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord, CA; the Nissan Pavilion in Washington D.C.; and the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN. I'm also moving some dates from the regular venue list into the pending column because I've received conflicting information; Columbus, Oakland, Hartford, Charlottesville and Austin. All 5 of these are indoor venues and I suspect they may have been dropped in favor of some outdoor sheds.

I apologize for the fuzzy nature of things. There are an unusually large number of venue holds in place for the tour and the South American dates moving from May to August really threw a wrench into things. We'll see how accurate this information turns out to be soon enough. More as I learn it...
