Rush 2008 Snakes & Arrows tour dates update

Thu, Jan 10, 2008@5:31PM | comments removed/disabled

UPDATE - 1/14@12:34PM: I've just heard the tour dates announcement will not be happening today (Monday, Jan. 14) but will be later in the week - most likely Friday, Jan. 18. I won't be updating this post; I will put any further updates in this newer post.

UPDATE - 1/12@9:57PM: I'm sad to say that the Civic Center in Portland, Maine is off the list. There's also now a hold on the Smirnoff Music Center in Dallas. I'm adding that as a pending.

UPDATE - 1/12@8:22PM: I'm now hearing the Chicago show might be at the United Center rather than the Sears Centre and will happen on Monday, June 9th.

UPDATE - 1/12@3:21PM: More stuff to report. It seems that there are a lot of last-minute adds and changes taking place due to the abrupt switch of the South American dates from the beginning of the tour in May to the end in August.

First off, since that Mohegan Sun show seems to be a go - that Hartford, CT date may be in question. I'm going to keep it on the list for now but I thought I'd just give a heads up. There's also been a hold on the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia for a while now, and it now looks like that show will be happening sometime in July.

Also, I heard that KNST AM out of Tuscon mentioned this morning that Monday they'd be announcing the details regarding a Phoenix-area date as well as ... a live album from Rush! With a live album release, that would make a live Workin' Them Angels single (see update below the list) being released all the more likely. It would also give them something to promote on the tour. I can only assume it would be the live audio from Rotterdam. I guess we'll find out all the details Monday. More to come ...

----- snip -----

UPDATE - 1/12@11:38AM: Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville, CT, July 7th (thanks afrknob).

UPDATE - 1/11@10:25PM: One more pending venue; Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh, NC.

UPDATE - 1/11@10:17PM: I wanted to touch on one other subject related to the tour date announcement. Back in early November I'd mentioned that the band would be releasing the Workin' Them Angels single to coincide with the tour announcement, rather than releasing it last October as originally planned. I'd also mentioned they'd planned to release a video for the song which would use portions of the recordings for the live DVD that was filmed in Rotterdam. My radio sources are confirming this is still a go. So on Monday we should also expect a Workin' Them Angels single in addition to the tour announcement. Now since the video is supposed to use live footage ... and the single is to promote a tour, I have a sneaking suspicion that the single may be a live version of Workin' Them Angels - not the studio version. I always thought that song came across really well live too. More to come ...

UPDATE - 1/11@2:27PM: It looks like a date was unintentionally put into the Ticketmaster system. Here's the link - not sure how long it'll be up though. It is saying Rush will play the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, MO on Saturday June 7th. Thanks to LVS_R for the heads up.

UPDATE - 1/11@12:31PM: More updates. The venue for the July 4th Atlantic City show is a little fuzzy. It might be at the Etess Arena at the Trump Taj Mahal instead of the Boardwalk.

The Cincinnati show will be at Riverbend - not US Bank and will happen on June 30th.

The US tour will launch on Tuesday April 15th at the Amway Arena in Orlando, FL and the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena show will be on the following day - Wednesday, April 16th.

The PNC Arts Center show will be on July 12th.

As it looks right now, late April into May will see the band out in the Western US. Then the Canadian dates will be in June. The South American dates are still on but have been pushed back towards the end of the tour in August.

More to come ...

----- snip -----

UPDATE - 1/11@8:45AM: I have several more updates and should have more throughout the day. I'll probably hold off on my regular Friday Updates post until tomorrow and just focus on the tour information today.

The Phoenix date seems to be a go right now, but it may take place at the Cricket Pavillion instead of Jobing.com Arena.

Everett Events Center in Seattle is out. The Gorge will be the Washington venue. Clark County Amphitheater in Portland has been added.

US Bank Arena in Cincinnati has been added.

----- snip -----

I've received a few more updates so I thought I'd put up a fresh post. My sources are also telling me that the official tour dates should be released via Rush.com this coming Monday, January 14th with the first round of tickets going on sale Saturday, January 26th. There's bound to be a fan pre-sale too although I haven't heard any details yet. For the first leg, dates were announced on a Monday and the pre-sale began the next day, with regular tickets on sale the following Saturday. It sounds like maybe they'll give us a little breathing room first this time between the announcement and when tickets go on sale. We'll see.

I have a couple of venue updates to make since my last update. First off, the Saratoga Springs at the SPAC is out. I'm also sad to say that Fairbanks, Alaska is off the list. They are trying to see if they can get another venue up there but it's looking unlikely. However, Foro Sol in Mexico City has been added. So Mexico seems to have nailed 2 shows this go-around.

Here's the updated list. More as I learn it.
