UPDATE - 11/3@11:14AM: Here's another interview with Allan Weinrib talking about the film (thanks RushFanForever).

UPDATE - 11/2@12:27PM: Geddy's brother and one of the film's producers - Allan Weinrib - appeared on Breakfast Television this AM to talk a little about the documentary. You can watch the video of his appearance below or at this location.

The new Rush R40 Live tour documentary Rush: Time Stand Still will premiere in a special, one-night screening in theaters across North America this coming Thursday, November 3rd. Rolling Stone got an advanced screening of the doc and posted an article earlier this morning listing off ten things that they learned from watching the film. Some of what the film reveals we already knew - such as the fact that Neil Peart was reluctant to embark on the tour, Alex Lifeson is suffering from arthritis, and that it's unlikely that Rush will ever tour again. But some new details were revealed such as the extent of Neil Peart's various ailments, including the agonizing foot pain he endured on the 2nd leg of the tour:

As always, Peart traveled from show to show on his motorcycle. "Of all the things I worried about before this tour, and I worried about my elbows and cardiac arrest, I didn't worry about the bottoms of my feet," says Peart. But as he rode through torrential rain with wet boots on his feet, he developed a fungus that grew into eczema psoriasis and bacteria infections. A topical ointment only made the condition worse and walking became nearly unbearable, let alone playing drums for three hours a night. "By the end of the second leg I was walking on two raw stumps," he says. "So drumming, of course, was agonizing." But he powered through it, and if that wasn't enough he developed painful blisters all over his hands at the same time. "He's such a stoic guy," says Lifeson. "I can't believe he played through that." Adds Lee: "There were two weeks of utter hell for him, like really utter hell."

The article concludes with the observation that the band walked away with mixed emotions after the tour was over:

"I'm sure down the road I'll feel fine with it," says Lifeson. "But I still lament the fact that it's likely we won't be doing a major tour anymore." That feels like an optimistic statement. Judging from Peart's statements throughout the film, even a single show in the future would be a big surprise. At least they went out with one amazing final tour and had the foresight to film everything.

You can check out the entire list at RollingStone.com here. As mentioned above, the film will premiere this Thursday, and US fans can get their tickets via Fathom Events or at participating theater box offices, while Canadian fans can get their tickets via Cineplex theatres or Landmark Cinemas. Several trailers and clips from the film are available including this 45-second trailer featuring several Rush fans that was released yesterday. There's also the official theatrical trailer; this clip where Geddy, Alex and Howard Ungerleider reminisce about touring with KISS back in the '70s and tell the story of The Bag; and this 3-minute clip where we meet "Rush-Fan-In-Chief" Jillian Maryonovich - one of the fabulous group of women behind the long-running RushCon Rush fan convention. The screening will include first viewing of exclusive extras including a 20-minute mini-documentary titled Rush: A Salute to Kings where Gene Simmons (KISS), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Ann & Nancy Wilson (Heart), Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy), and the band's producer Nick Raskulinecz share their unique stories about Rush over the last 40 years. You can watch a 2-minute clip from this mini-doc where Chad Smith talks about how Rush's 2112 changed his life on YouTube at this location, and watch the trailer here. Another of the extras that will be shown at the screening is a short animated film produced by FANTOONS called The Early Days of Neil Peart which you can preview here. The DVD/Blu-ray of the film will release on November 18th and is now available for pre-order (DVD, Blu-ray). Here is the product description along with a tracklisting, including bonus content:

'Rush built their following the right way. No hype, no b@llsh!t, they did it from the ground up. Their legacy is incredible and their influence undeniable.' - Dave Grohl

It is an intimate view 'under the hood' of a historic moment from the perspective of the band, their fans, crew, and management.
