Rush R40 Live 2015 tour official announcement!

UPDATE - 1/23@6:44PM: With all the hulabaloo of the tour announcement yesterday, we never got a chance to discuss the one line of the Rush.com tour press release that has garnered a lot of talk in the music press; namely this line:

...After 40 years together and 20 gold and platinum studio albums - Rush is ready to celebrate with the most loyal fans in the world by embarking on their 21st tour, one which will most likely be their last major tour of this magnitude ...

This doesn't quite declare the tour as a farewell tour, but it comes close.

UPDATE - 1/22@9:07PM: Note that this time around, the VIP pre-sales are generally sold through Ticketmaster rather than directly through VIP Nation, except for those venues that do not use Ticketmaster (like the Toyota Center in Houston, First Niagara Center in Buffalo, Wells Fargo in Philly, Pepsi Center in Denver, etc.). VIP pre-sales for those shows are still through VIP Nation, so if you plan on getting VIP tickets for any of those shows, be sure to sign up for a VIP Nation account in advance to save some time. Remember that all VIP presales will require the RUSH2015 password.

UPDATE - 1/22@8:15PM: Most of the dates are now listed over at the Tickets Today fan pre-sale site (all but Tulsa are up).

UPDATE - 1/22@4:23PM: The Rush newsletter just went out and they provide a little more info about the fan pre-sales that will kick off tomorrow for 14 of the shows. The fan pre-sales will be handled by Tickets Today - which looks like its just a re-branded Music Today; both musictoday.com and ticketstoday.com take you to the same site). Whatever the case, you'll be able to purchase the fan pre-sale tickets at rush.shop.ticketstoday.com, although there doesn't look like there's any way to sign up in advance. It looks like a completely different system than last tour. Although there's still no password for this pre-sale, just like the last few tours. VIP packages will use the password RUSH2015.

UPDATE - 1/22@3:11PM: I've updated the tour section with all of the 2015 dates and relevant ticket sale/pre-sale links. Some VIP ticket prices are starting to pop up over at the VIP Nation site and it looks like the SILVER packages will run in the $300 range, with the GOLD at about $400 depending on the venue. I've been able to verify that the fan pre-sales will be handled by Music Today, although the website/interface is completely different from the last tour so none of the old links work. I'll be updating my Rush Ticket Sales and Pre-sale Guide as I gather more information.

UPDATE - 1/22@10:41AM: Details on the VIP ticket package are now available. This time around they'll be offering a GOLD and SILVER package, with the GOLD package guaranteeing a seat in the 1st 10 rows, and the SILVER putting you in rows 11-16. Here are the details:

It's not clear what the dedicated VIP entrance or the on-site VIP host means, but I'm sure that the GOLD package probably costs a good bit more than the VIP packages did on the last tour (likely north of $300 at least.

UPDATE - 1/22@9:43AM: Most of the dates are now listed at both Ticketmaster and Live Nation. Just like they've done on the past several tours, Rush will be offering a number of different pre-sale options including a fan pre-sale (through Music Today I assume, but that hasn't been confirmed), VIP pre-sales (through VIP Nation), and CITI pre-sales (through CITI private pass). VIP and fan pre-sales for the first round of dates go on sale tomorrow at 10AM! Dates included in this first round are Tulsa, St. Paul, Dallas, Houston, Bristow, Buffalo, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Newark, New York, Denver and San Jose. The fan pre-sales have been handled by Music Today for the past several tours, so I'll assume they'll be handling it this time to until I hear otherwise. Just make sure you are signed up to the Rush.com newsletter, and they should be sending out the details shortly. I'll also be posting details here as soon as I get them. For an idea of how all the pre-sales work, check out my Rush Ticket Sales and Pre-sale Guide; I'll be updating this for the 2015 tour as soon as I get more info, but it will at least give you an ideas of how things have worked for past tours.

Less than a day after launching the newly-designed Rush.com, Rush pulled a late-night surprise on us and finally gave fans the news they've been waiting for since the end of the 2013 leg of the Clockwork Angels tour; Rush will be touring in 2015! The band will kick off their 34-city R40 Live tour this coming May 8th at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK with ticket sales beginning next week. From Rush.com:

Celebrating 40 years, Rush and Live Nation confirmed that the R40 LIVE Tour will visit 34 cities throughout North America this summer beginning May 8 in Tulsa, OK and finishing August 1st in Los Angeles, CA. These not to be missed concerts will highlight four decades of the band's music. Tickets for the RUSH: R40 LIVE TOUR will go on sale starting January 30th in select markets at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.
