Alex Lifeson for the Kidney Foundation of CanadaThe Kidney Foundation of Canada is running a 30-second commercial spot featuring Rush's Alex Lifeson to help raise awareness of the conditions that cause kidney disease. Alex has worked with the Foundation in the past where he has contributed paintings for their A Brush of Hope charity auction. Alex's father passed away of kidney disease several years ago. The commercial is available online and can be viewed below or at this location (thanks Egore).

#2 Alexfan - according to a post from an individual RUSH fan on the Rush Power Windows Facebook page, the filming of the commercial took place at 'The 12th Fret, which is an independent music store in Toronto.

The fan bought an amplifier from the store awhile back they mentioned.

Yep, agree a great thing for Alex to have done. Always comes across as such a warm guy, with such great spirit and generosity.

Way to go Alex. Man, what a great a guy. I think he might want to invest in another mandolin. Looks like he doesn't have much of those! But in all serious, Alex you are a great guy, I am sorry about your father, but it is great that you are doing this.

Did anyone else notice on that memorial link that RushFanForever posted, that Alex's father passed away on Alex's 50th Birthday? What a sad Birthday that must have been for him. So Sorry Alex, my deepest sympathies.

Whoops--that's an SG. Must have been mesmerized by the gold pickup covers...

Sweet shot of the white Gibson 355 towards the end there.

Alex lost his father to kidney failure, which I can identify with as mine also passed on in the late 80's from the same disease.
