10:26AM EST | comments (6) |

Payton ManningAll this past week ESPN has been running a 15-second television commercial spot promoting their upcoming Monday Night Football broadcast on September 23rd where the Oakland Raiders will take on the Denver Broncos. The commercial features footage of Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning with Rush's Tom Sawyer playing in the background. Thanks to all of the many readers who emailed me about this. ESPN finally posted the commercial to their YouTube channel late yesterday and you can watch it below or at this location:

Well done ad! Manning is the NFL's Tom Sawyer. I hope a lot of people discover the greatness of Rush through this. I just imagine 13 year olds googling the lyrics and heading right to youtube. Then iTunes. This is great! :D

Rush would be playing state fairs if wasn't for loyal (crazy) fans like you and I.

Without Tom Sawyer, Rush would be playing state fairs on a triple bill with Styx and REO Speedwagon. Well, not quite, but Tom Sawyer has clearly done a lot for their popularity.

Very cool! On a similar note, though not as commercial, when the Oakland A's are at home everytime Jed Lowrie comes up to bat they play Tom Sawyer as his intro. Have actually been hearig Tom Sawyer alot in various slots on TV and at sporting events of late. Even at the SF vs Seattle game this past Sunday night.
