Rush official 2014 40th anniversary wall calendar artwork revealed
The cover art for the official Rush 2014 wall calendar has been revealed by NMR Distribution via this product listing on their newly revamped website. Not surprisingly, the 2014 calendar will celebrate Rush's upcoming 40th anniversary of the release of their first album back in 1974. The cover art includes the Rush explosion logo from the band's eponymous 1974 debut in the background with an early, 70s-era live photo of the band superimposed in the foreground with the words 40TH ANNIVERSARY | 2014 WALL CALENDAR. The 16-month 2014 calendar will officially release sometime this summer and should be available for pre-order via various online outlets in the near future. NMR distribution will also be releasing a new 24"x36" commemorative tour poster for the band's first show with Neil Peart on drums - Rush's August 14th, 1974 appearance at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh. You can check out the listing for the poster online at this location. Thanks to plunge for the heads up.

Yeah I know medleys aren't everybody's cup o' tea. For some reason I'm easily impressed by the seamless transitions between songs. Not just for RUSH, but any band. Two of my favorites are what The Who did in Live at Leeds at the end of My Generation, and Genesis's "Old Medley" in their The Way We Walk (The Longs) live album.
I have to respectfully disagree with #27 regarding the medley portion of past Rush set lists. The greatest thing that Rush has ever done commencing with the 'Snakes & Arrows' tour was DROPPING those from the set. I couldn't even fathom hearing something like 'Natural Science' in MEDLEY FORM! Granted, the 'R30 Overture' was OKAY, but I prefer they NOT play it at all if they're going to do that. I'd rather they continue playing obscure 80's songs (entirely) over a medley any day of the week. From the 90's, I'd love to hear 'Cold Fire' again, especially since Alex has been upping the ante on guitar moreso the past few years. At the same time, I think 'Open Secrets' and 'Chemistry' would be great to hear as well. Without a doubt, Rush got it right on the 'Clockwork Angels' tour by adding a good portion of 'Power Windows' to the set! Still shocked that they featured as much as they did from that one. It's great to see they remain proud of that album, and rightly so. Great comments everybody. Thanks RIAB.
I love the dance corral idea. Kind of like a mosh pit for Rushians. We might need to have a medic standing by, I almost gave my husband a black-eye at the 2010 TMT show. He was a good sport. Who ever said it was safe to go to a Rush concert? LOL! RUSH ON!!
#26 - because I was afraid to!
#24 & 25 - thanks lisah! In my dreams, there is a special "dancing corral" at Rush concerts. It takes up the first five rows of seats, and is spacious enough for all of us dancers to freely and joyfully flail without injury to ourselves or others while we have our eyes and ears focused on the show. The only downside for me is that my husband is not in the corral because he will not dance in public.
And for everyone who is annoyed by the dancers, there is another show the following night, without the corral ;)
Thanks for everyone's 2 cents on Fly By Night. I don't disagree with anyone's comments/predictions, although I think it could work for them as an opening number. Would be a nice simple "warm up" song for the band and the crowd would go bananas. Similarly, it could start off the encore and segue into another song after the guitar solo. I'm not so sure they'd get sick of it if they played it in that context, but that's just me.
#22 - Yeah, I could see them doing a snippet of Fly By Night as part of a medley. I've always wished they'd do more of those. I loved "The Mother of All Medleys" on the Bones tour, as well as the R30 Overture.

How come you didn't ask Liver?
#23, Happy 20th Anniversary. No better way to spend it than with your husband and those three guys from Canada. Have a great time in London, let us know how the show goes.
#23, Leave That Thing Alone is also one I Never tire of hearing. Probably in my top 5 all time fave Rush tunes. Demands a lot of dancing and jumping up and down. I don't recommend doing it while driving!Rush On!
