Loved the show. This is the third time I've seen them in Bristow -- R30 and TM were the other two. While I don't think this topped the TM show in 2010, it was a fantastic concert. Having seen them do most of the 70s classics already, it was a great change of pace to see the 80s get some love. Power Windows has such strong songs, and it was great to hear them played with the extra oomph of their heavier current sound. The CA songs translated very well live, especially The Anarchist, while Far Cry thumped the whole pavilion. The only song I didn't really want to hear was Red Sector A, and that only because it's such a serious song that it dampened my mood.

If you had never seen Rush before, no doubt you would be disappointed to miss the classics. However, for fans like myself who love the whole body of their work and have seen them do "the hits" multiple times, it was a night of great music and some awesome surprises.

As I posted elsewhere:

It has just occurred to me that a lot of UK/European fans are going to be really pleased with the setlist, regardless of it being the A or B list because the Power Windows tour was a North American affair only and so we will be hearing a number of songs live for the first time.

Happy days.

Sitting here listening to RUSHRADIO is making me even more disappointed with the 2 set lists....I'm actually going to miss the over played staple songs Limelight, Closer to the Heart, Freewill...Instead I get 4/5 Power Windows songs...I like Power Windows, I mean, it's not Hemispheres or A farewell to Kings, but I just don't get it???? 19 Studio albums, and 4 songs from 1 album are played?

@#174 Dr.7...

You sound much more reasonable now.
Take it easy for your friends, I was suprised myself many times by my "close" friends...
When you expect whistles, it flutes and viceversa.

Then, despite I know what you mean about their musical choice, Rush on stage rocks anyway even though the keys component is heavy...

Have fun and lucky you (and your friends) whomhave a chance to go.
Less complains and more open mind...:-)
You won't be disappointed !

#168 (Mickey) - I try to answer you line by line:

(Mickey) - and what about if your friends WILL LOVE the middle of the First set ?
(DR7915) - If they love the middle of the first set I will feel happy and relieved. However, if you actually read my words that you reposted you will note that they "lost interest in Rush after Signals". Why did that happen, you ask? Because they did not like the music they were putting out escpecially with the heavy focus on synths. My friends (so I actually am familiar with what they like)are into the heavy Prog / Guitar days of Rush. That is why they like much of the music they have put out in the last decade and especially CA.

(Mickey) - I never heard such childish comments like yours mate.
(DR7915) - Please elaborate. What excatly did i say that was childish?

(Mickey) - Are your "friends" not able to listen and to judge by themselves ?
(DR7915) - Of course they are. Who said they aren't? All I said was that I "warned them that the middle of the first set will probably be stuff they never heard".
(Mickey) - Do they need a Rush Tour Guide to explain them ?
(DR7915) - Now talk about a childish question. Their my friends for Gods sake!

(Mickey) - And then why do you feel ashamed if they dont like it ?
(DR7915) - I never said that, #144 did but I understand the sentiment when you talk a friend into spending $130 on a concert and they end up not liking it. I hope that scenario doesn't play out for me but I understand how he could feel that way.

(Mickey) - Why don't you take it easy and see what instead ?
(DR7915) - I plan on it.

I went to both Manchester and Bristow. They were both amazing!! Are there songs I wish they would have played? Sure. But I don't go to a show to hear what I want...I go to hear what Geddy, Alex and Neil have decided to play for us!

I loved the strings! I loved both set lists! Bring on more scarlet mist flavored cool aid!! I can't wait til Toronto!!

I am flying to Charlotte to see the guys at the end of October. I was wanting to take the chance of getting tickets at the box office when I get there instead of having to pay the ticketmaster extra charges. I have been fortuitous in the past to see them this way and get as close as 8th row. Has anyone tried this for this tour and scored great seats? Are the VIP that do not get sold being sold at the gate?

I honestly thin that these hates are just
Trying to bug us, take it from me and my dads POV, we have only seen 2 shows
Together this is our 3rd on Saturday, we don't have alot of income to be
Going to 5-10 shows that people do all that time we are die hard rush fans that charish the fact that we still get to see this band play live
After so long, they are
Getting quite old, don't know how long they can last.

I told my dad both setlists and I assume that chicago will get Setlist a and he told me that he is very
Excited to see songs that he has not seen live at all (some the 89s songs he
Never got to see due to rough times in that era he only saw sig and MP in the 80s) and I look forward to many of those songs as well

Look complain if you must but if you run into us and aren't happy that we jam and sing every
Song, you knew what was
Coming in the first place.

Only 4 days,

I'm going to two shows over her in the UK - Manchester and Sheffield.

I'm taking a 'casual' fan, my wife to one show; she has no choice about being a casual fan, living with a Rushian. She wouldn't choose to go and see Rush but always enjoys the experience for what it is, a great spectacle.

To the other show I'm taking three 'casual' fans, my wife and two friends in their early 60's. The friends have Moving Pictures in their collection. For all of them I've put together playlists for their iphones/ipods of both sets so that they've got plenty of time to familiarise themselves with what they will see/hear. Nothing will come as a surprise to them and I know we'll all be set for a great night.
