Video of Rush's March, 2010 induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame now available

Back on March 28, 2010 Rush was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. The ceremony aired on CBC Radio but wasn't televised, and an audio version was posted online shortly thereafter. However, there wasn't any video available until just recently when the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame website added video of the ceremony to Rush's page in their Virtual Hall of Fame (thanks RushFanForever). Included are the 15-minute video of Dave Bidini's introduction of the band where he reads from his book For Those About the Rock, along with Rush's acceptance of the award and Neil Peart's speech. There's also Jacob Moon's performance of Subdivisions, Les Claypool's performance of The Spirit of Radio and Alexis on Fire's performance of Tom Sawyer. It should be noted that Alexis on Fire's performance had not been included in the original CBC broadcast due to technical issues, so this is the first time it's seen the light of day.

I went to the same high school as dave Bidini and bought the rheostatics 45 from his locker for two bucks. I grew up near sivler creek park but don't remember anyone named ronnie. or was he a fictional character? Ken huff went to the same high school and was a punker who dressed the part. I remember the MP tour (three shows in Toronto) was the big tour of that year. didn't know dave was into them, but by the time i hit high school his band and the people he hung out with were all into new wave.
Jacob's rendition of Subdivisions was absolutely perfect! The rest...meh
Every time I hear Neil speak, I'm reminded how impressive and elegant of a mind he really has, and why Rush is still so relevant and vibrant. Just a beautiful speech.
I love Les Claypool, have always loved Primus, plus Les always comes across as a very genuine guy. But DANG you realize how much he actually can't sing, when he tries to sing other people's stuff. Still, kudos on a cool arrangement.
#10/#12- did you see my post 3 threads back about the canadian songwriters hall of fame video????
I have a copy of the Dave Badini book 'For Those About to Rock: A Road Map to Being in a Band' that I found at a used book store last year.

The books is a fantastic read.
Dave read passages of the book as part of the induction speech to RUSH in the video posted from the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
Subdivisions was excellent. Les Claypool's Spirit Of Radio was excruciating to listen to. Bass and drums were fine but the vocals were awful and the cello's sounded out of tune. As for Alexis On Fire, that was just dire.
A major difference in the ceremony between the audio version posted on the CBC website and the video posted on the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame website is that the audio doesn't contain Neil's French translations.
Les Claypool is Steam Punk incarnate. Check out them glasses. He's not even trying.
ahhhemmm...I mentioned this about 3-4 threads back but no one seemed to notice..ahhemm..haha, anyway .yeah,cool.
