Rush Changing Hemispheres book transcription at Cygnus-X1.net
Back in August of last year UK multimedia publisher Abstract Sounds Books released a 116-page hardcover book and 4-DVD set titled Rush: Changing Hemispheres in the UK. The set was not an official Rush release nor was it ever sanctioned by the band. It was later also released in the US as an import in November. John at Cygnus-X1.net has taken the time to diligently transcribe the text of the book along with scans of the pictures and posted them to his website here. The book is simply a biography of the band containing information already available online, and is chock full of errors - both factual and typographical. John fixed the typos but left the rest intact. From what others have been saying about the DVDs accompanying the book, they make the text look good in comparison. Needless to say, this is probably one purchase any Rush fan can easily skip. Many thanks to John for taking the time to transcribe it.

#10, My bad...you're absolutely right. I remember Davey's crash (I was 10) but definitely wasn't a Rush geek yet :-)
It was '93 in Baltimore. I remember it well. It was the same week Davey Allison of NASCAR fame died in a helicopter crash.
Holy run-on sentences, Batman! It's a headache (and not my favorite one, either!) trying to read this "book." I think I found one of the errors...wasn't it the '91 Toronto All-Star game when Geddy sang, not Baltimore?
A well intentioned relative bought this for me at xmas. Nicely packaged but that is about the only positive thing I can say!!
The 4 DVD's gives the expectation of lots of material but in fact it is largely a poorly recorded sound-only interview. Nothing new in it and my opinion is I wouldn't waste your money on it. ...... having said that if you are really intent on buying it I could easily be persuaded to part company with mine :-) as long as you don't tell my Aunty Betty! Ha Ha
He migth have taken them himself or purchased them. The older ones look like they are from the permanent waves tour. Speaking of which, why is the head line on the news paper on the PW album cover blocked out? I've lost my vinyl copy years ago but still have the sheet music for the album and it's printed Dewey defeats Truman. odd.
I found many factual errors; as well as some subjective ones. There were a couple pics I haven't seen but nothing extraordinary. I shan't be purchasing it.
I wonder if he gives credit to the photographers. I think it's funny that he can have an international copyright granted but from what I see, he doesn't give credit for photos. Maybe he doesn't have to.
Like most here I would consider myself a fanatic when it comes to Rush. Been listening to them since 1980 when I was 10.
I have purchased most things ie the music, the books, the shirts, etc etc.
However I have no interest in purchasing this CD/DVD set as I could tell them more than they can tell me.
Anything that is not official is not worth purchasing unless you are completely new to the band.
As usual some people are trying to make money. You would think they could at least bother to do their research and get the facts right.
Skimmed through a bit until I ran across a reference to Power Windows being "a disaster commercially."
Power Windows went Platinum.
Lot of bands would like to have million-selling "disasters." Next...
Holy crap..First!
" Neil Peart is the leader of the band, the iconic face of Rush and the band's chief songwriter and percussionist." Well the percussionist part is right.
Allmusic.com also has "Neil Peart, who also assumed the role of the band's primary songwriter" I wonder if that's where he got it from. Lee and Lifeson don't get any song writing credit. ...lame
