Today is February 1st, 2012 - or 2.1.12 here in the United States; 2112 day! The Rush fan community suffered a terrible blow last week with the passing of Rush photographer Andrew MacNaughtan, so we can certainly use any excuse to help lift our spirits. So kick back, crank up 2112 and celebrate all things Rush with your fellow Rush fans. To honor the memory of Andrew MacNaughtan, please give to his Art Gives Hope charity if you are able, and take a moment to appreciate all of the great photographs he's taken of our favorite band over the years. To help facilitate the celebration, the folks at RushCon are teaming up with the Rush Radio website to sponsor a 2112 listening party this evening at 9:12PM - 2/1/12 21:12. From the RushCon newsletter:
SYNC UP. ROCK OUT. THE 2112 LISTENING PARTY.
Tune into RushRadio.org on Wednesday February 1, 2012, at 9:12pm (in your time zone) for the world's largest streaming Rush listening party! Simultaneously, join fans across the world in an online chat (tinychat.com/rushcon) as we crank this epic album and fill the world with our music. This is the closest we will get to the year 2112 in our lifetime, so celebrate and assume control!
The party will repeat 4 times, starting at 9:12pm EST, then at 9:12pm Central, Mountain, and Pacific timezones. So everyone will have a chance to join! Or heck, come for all 4 hours! The more Rush fans the better!

#39- Yeah and maybe he's a little envious of Rush's career being as long as it has, compared to the track record of Aerosmith (album sales, aside..haha. Im not sure what Aerosmith's album sales over their career ,has been) .
#37 - Aerosmith have been doing the same four albums for 35 years. You definitely can't say that about Rush!!
Heck, maybe Steven doesn't *remember* that tour...or much else from that decade...who knows?
I just figured out the names of the two Twilight Zone episodes referenced in the song. Can anyone name them without googling?
They both have long titles.
#34- Thats cool ,about Randy Jackson. Honestly, I can't stand American Idol though, but Randy Jackson just became alot cooler to me. hehe.
As far as Stephen Tyler not mentioning Rush...yeah, I agree maybe he could have said something about Rush, since he and Aeromsmith toured with Rush way back. Then again, look what Stephen Tyler has been doing the last 10-15 years. I think the newer Aerosmith stuff is garbage and now he's doing what he's...umm, doing. A far cry from the days of Aerosmith in the 70's.
Not to piss anyone off or anything, but "Tears" is really a horrible song. Sorry, just calling it like it is.
I don't like how the songs are overlapping--5 second fade in/out. Otherwise, cool. They could play this album in it's entirety.
#34 Ya, I can't remember where I read it but Randy Jackson had good words to say about Rush. I'm not sure "Fan" is warranted (in the way that we are Fans anyway) but the respect was there. Jackson has played bass with lots of big names -Journey, Santana, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springstein, Aretha Franklin, Blue Oyster Cult, etc.
#32- Yeah I thought Randy Jackson (was trying to remember that guy's name- Im not an American Idol watcher, just happened it was on in another room) had said something to the effect that Geddy sounds good, but the guy trying to sing Tom Sawyer tonight, didn't sound good. haha. Anyway, that was ...interesting. So, Randy Jackson is a Rush fan? That's kinda cool.
#28 Ya, I caught the whole thing. Randy Jackson (who is a fan of Rush) did ask the singer if he thought he sounded like Geddy Lee in his own mind. The singer said he didn't intend to sound just like Geddy (it wasn't close) but hoped it worked. Randy did say that it didn't sound like Geddy and that Geddy sounds good. Steve Tyler didn't say anything (i wish he had said something, he did tour with Rush once), nor did J. Lo.
#28...I caught it and you mentioned it correctly.
They guy was BAD!
But as he left the stage they played the real song.......
What a coincidence.....
