Sonic Reality's Neil Peart Drums Vol. 1: The Kit released
Last week Sonic Reality announced via a press release that their new Neil Peart series drum sample instrument library Neil Peart Drums Volume 1: The Kit is now shipping for the Infinite Player software powered by Kontakt. The version for FXPansion's BFD software was announced as shipping earlier this month. For information on purchasing the product visit esoundz.com or check out this list of Sonic Reality retailers. I'd first reported that Sonic Reality had completed a Neil Peart drum sampling session engineered by Nick Raskulinecz way back in April of 2008 but it's taken over 2 years to develop the end product. You can listen to 4 different demo samples at this link. There's also a behind-the-scenes video from the recording sessions for the sample library posted to Sonic Reality's YouTube channel. The video shows Nick Raskulinecz and the Sound Reality guys setting up the mics and then a couple of minutes of Neil pounding away on his kit.
Thanks to BW&BK for the heads up.

#3 Love the pic! He did a great job. I'd frame it--it's a keeper.
Dorks unite! I'd say it's Limelight & Digital Man, too.
Those indeed are the songs he's playing. It's a testament to just how carefully and creatively he crafts his parts that they are easily recognizable on their own. Being a drummer and Peart student, it's great to hear just his tracks.
#10, I was going to ask the same question. I thought it was Digital Man. You know a drummer is great when you can tell what song he's drumming without the music. There are some outakes of John Bonham from the In through the out door sessions. You can tell exactly what song he's drumming.
Ah, but who's enough of a Rush drum dork to know the songs Neil is playing toward the end of the video. Sounds like "Limelight" and "Digital" Man to me. Uh, I guess I answered my own question.

"All Drum Masters 2 kits have been mapped for Roland's TD-20 V-Drum brain."
I don't have the TD-20 but it can be mapped to other V-drum head-ends as well.
You basically reassign the triggers via MIDI to play these sounds.
So can this software be used for example in Roland V Drums, that would be nice for someone who wanted to have a kit that looks and sounds like Neil's.
#3 Nice to see you are raising your son with great taste in music! My kids made the same type of drawings...now they are "children growing up"...too bad time can't stand still!
Awsome!
#4 He asked if they were playing 2112 last Friday night and I said yes......he said "the whole thing?"....I said no....."bummer" he says.......
Kid's hooked!!
