Rush 2008 tour ticket sales update

Wed, Jan 23, 2008@10:20PM | comments removed/disabled

UPDATE - 1/25@5:00PM: The PNC Bank Center show on July 12th will also go on AMEX pre-sale tomorrow at 10AM and the St. Louis show on June 28th will go on AMEX pre-sale February 25th.

UPDATE - 1/25@1:33PM: Sorry I forgot to mention that there's a radio pre-sale for the Detroit show going on as well; it will run until 10PM. The password is SNAKES.

UPDATE - 1/25@1:22PM: Ticketing info for the Philly show at the Wachovia Center is now up at comcastTix.com; tickets go on sale Saturday, February 9th (thanks PhillyMike).

UPDATE - 1/25@9:35AM: Alfa Rock out of Puerto Rico is airing that tickets for the Coliseo show will go on sale Saturday, February 2nd through TicketPop. I'll assume this info is correct unless I hear otherwise. Thanks to betorush for the heads up. Remember that radio pre-sales for both Vegas and Phoenix go on sale at 10AM today (local venue time). See the updates below for passwords.

UPDATE - 1/25@7:34AM: The Phoenix radio pre-sale today is sponsored by KDKD-FM and the password is KDKB (thanks Sean).

UPDATE - 1/24@10:55PM: Reader dedlift let us know that the Vegas radio pre-sale tomorrow is sponsored by KOMP FM and the password is KOMP.

UPDATE - 1/24@9:42PM: Ticketmaster has made some updates recently. There are radio pre-sales scheduled for both the Vegas show and the Phoenix show from 10AM to 10PM tomorrow (local time). I'm unsure of which radio stations are sponsoring these pre-sales at this time though (if you hear anything, let us know). There's also on-sale/pre-sale information up for the LA Nokia Theatre show on May 6th; tickets go on sale Sunday, February 3rd and there's an AMEX pre-sale and a KLOS-sponsored radio pre-sale. See here for details. I'm also hearing that a 2nd show has been negotiated - but no details yet.

UPDATE - 1/24@3:23PM: Here's some good news for those planning on seeing Rush at Summerfest in Milwaukee on June 27th. Lawn seats for this show will be FREE! This is also a good time to point out that several of the outdoor venues on the tour will likely run similar lawn promotions; buy one get one free, $10 for lawn, kids free with adult purchase, etc. Just keep an eye out for these types offers at the venue you plan on attending.

UPDATE - 1/24@2:11PM: Tickets for the Puerto Rico show could go on sale as soon as tomorrow or Saturday from what I'm hearing. There's a page up at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico website for the event, but no specifics on when tickets go on sale or links to purchase them. They only say that the tickets will be between $45 and $150 (quite a range) and TicketPop will most likely handle the sale. More as I learn it.

UPDATE - 1/24@11:00AM: I think I'd mentioned this before, but a lot of folks still seem to not be clear on it. There will be Music Today fan pre-sale for all of the North American (unsure about Puerto Rico though) dates in the coming weeks. These will generally occur the Tuesday through Thursday the week prior to the tickets going on regular sale. They haven't been officially announced so I haven't entered them into the tour section yet, except for when I get some independent confirmation (like with the Chicago date for instance - that's entered in already thanks to info passed to me from dinorushman). Music Today will likely announce the pre-sales for the coming weeks by the Monday prior to tickets going on regular sale for that date. So next week we should expect fan pre-sales for the dates in Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston, Albuquerque, Chicago, Mansfield, Milwaukee, Manchester, Holmdel and Wantagh.

UPDATE - 1/24@7:31AM: The AMEX pre-sale for the Bank Atlantic Center show on April 13th will begin this Saturday, January 26th at 10AM rather than January 27th as I had previously reported. I'm not sure if I had it wrong before, or if they had just changed it. Either way, I've updated the tour section along with this post with the correct information. Thanks to Robert B for the heads up.

UPDATE - 1/23@10:39PM: I forgot to mention that there will be a radio pre-sale for the Red Rocks show Friday from 10AM to 6PM. It is sponsored by 103.5 The Fox and run through Ticketmaster. The password is SNAKES.

The Music Today pre-sale frenzy is on and will continue through tomorrow at noon (local venue time) for the shows in New Orleans, Phoenix, Reno, Las Vegas and Detroit; the Red Rocks pre-sale has been closed. To check out what tickets are available go here. For details and instructions on how to register and participate in the pre-sale check this post. In addition to the pre-sale, Music Today is running a Snakes & Arrows Live pre-order promotion. All fans who purchase pre-sale tickets in addition to pre-ordering the CD will be entered into a contest to win a Meet-and-Greet with the band and a possible signed hard cover tour book collection. Details in this post.

Just like back on the 2007 leg, Music Today has also graciously offered to run a promotion exclusively for Rush Is A Band readers. Three lucky readers will be randomly picked to receive a Limited-Edition Rush T-Shirt. To enter the Rush Is A Band T-Shirt Giveaway, email the following information to riabbiggestfanzz@aol.com.

* First and Last Name
* T Shirt Size
* Age
* Mailing Address
* Phone Number

Email entries will be accepted until Friday, February 29th. Winners will be picked and notified by Music Today the week of March 4th - March 8th. A big thanks to Music Today for doing this again - it was a big success on the 2007 leg.

Regular ticket sales for the 6 dates currently on pre-sale will begin this Saturday. In addition to the Music Today pre-sales, AMEX pre-sales for these 6 dates are ongoing and will run through Friday. I'm not really sure why, but for the New Orleans show Ticketmaster has posted a notice on their website indicating that only residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, S. Alabama, and the panhandle of Florida are eligible to purchase tickets. AMEX pre-sales for the following dates will begin over the weekend and early next week:

Saturday, January 26

Sun, Apr 13 - BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise, FL [info]
Mon, Jun 9 - United Center - Chicago, IL [info]
Sun, Jun 15 - Tweeter Center - Mansfield, MA [info]
Sat, Jul 12 - PNC Bank Arts Center - Holmdel, NJ [info]
Mon, Jul 14 - Nikon at Jones Beach Theater - Wantagh, NY [info]

Sunday, January 27

Sun, May 11 - Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine, CA [info]

Monday, January 28

Tue, Apr 15 - Amway Arena - Orlando, FL [info]

* NOTE: Not all AMEX cardholders may be eligible - certain pre-sales are only open to AMEX Gold Card members. If prompted, the password should be either AMEX or the 10-digit customer service 800 number on the back of your card (don't include the leading 1). Check this link for details.

Ticketmaster has also added a link to information for the Trump Taj Mahal show at the Marc Etess Arena in Atlantic City on July 4th.

I don't think that there's anything posted up on their website yet, but WLUP out of Chicago will be giving away primo tickets to the June 9th United Center show next week. Listen starting Monday to win tickets in the 5th row, 4th row tickets on Tuesday, 3rd row on Wednesday, 2nd row on Thursday and front row seats on Friday. To win the tickets just be the 15th caller at 591-ROCK when you hear a Rush twofer between the hours of 10AM and 10PM all next week.

The folks at RushCon are in the early stages of planning for RushCon 8. They are looking at summer dates. I'll take a wild guess and say it'll be somewhere around the July 9th show in Toronto. :)

Here's one from the rumor mill. I've been unable to get any solid information about this but caspertn over at Counterparts reported that last evening on 98.1 WXMX out of Memphis, after coming out of playing The Larger Bowl, the DJ said that a possible Rush date could be added very soon; no other details were offered. There was a date pending at the FedEx Forum for quite some time that didn't materialize. Again, I have absolutely no solid information on this - take it for what it is.

I'll end with a few notes on the whole ticket-buying experience in general. I get a lot of questions from readers asking me what the best way to get tickets is. I never try to pretend that I have a good answer to that question. If you ask ten different people this same question chances are you will get ten different answers. There are several options available to get tickets; various pre-sales, regular ticket sales, Ticketmaster auctions, ticket brokers, eBay or even Craigslist. Basically it comes down to what level of seating you are willing to settle for and how much you are willing to pay. I'd suggest that everyone do their research; ask around, check out the comments on this site and other sites, try out the pre-sales to see what's available, browse the eBay and Ticketmaster auctions, etc. But you don't necessarily need to rush (pun intended) into anything; even if the show sells out, you'll probably be able to get tickets somehow right up to the date of the show. Yeah... the ticket prices are outrageous I agree. But let's just be thankful that Rush is still out there and touring. :)
