Updates and other random Rush stuff

UPDATE - 4/26@1:58PM: As promised, here is the list of stations with air times that will be broadcasting the Rush FMQB Inside Snakes & Arrows special.

It goes without saying that the next week will be extremely hectic in Rushland. A few lucky fans in Europe (and a few in the US too!) have already been able to purchase Snakes & Arrows. Fans in the UK will be able to get their hands on the CD Monday if not sooner. Us state-siders have to wait until Tuesday. For the impatient (who haven't already downloaded it) several radio premiers of the album will run starting tonight and throughout the weekend. The Q107 preview special will run at stations all over Canada starting tonight. For a complete list of stations and times go here. The Rush special on Sirius Classic Rewind also will air tonight at 10PM with rebroadcasts Saturday, April 28th at 12PM EST; Sunday, April 29th at 11PM EST; and Tuesday, May 1st at 3PM EST. And XM Radio will air a 28-hour Rush special called the RUSH HOURS starting at midnight on April 30th.

Regarding the FMQB special, I've been told that a list of stations and air times will be released later today. Until then, here are some clips of Alex and Geddy plugging the show.

Thanks to Mark S for supplying the clips.

In addition to all the radio premiers/specials, a number of radio stations and record stores across the country are running various contests/promotions and/or listening parties in the lead up to the release of the album. There are a lot of them, so I won't even try to list them all here. Check your local rock station(s) and/or record store(s) for details.

A few users over at Prog Archives have put up their reviews of the new album if you're interested. Out of 8 reviews, it has an average of 4 out of 5 so far. I also hear that Kerrang! Magazine - who is traditionally not Rush-friendly - has also reviewed the album and given it a 4 out of 5.

Reader xenomuse has created a neat Rush mash-up clip that contains riffs from several Rush songs mashed together. It's very neat. You can access it here or use the player below to give it a listen.

A couple months ago the news came out that US performing rights organization SESAC had signed Rush. They have a neat Rush eCard with a Far Cry theme up on their site here (thanks ouchie at Counterparts).

Rush Didact has set up a petition to Anthem urging them to release a remastered version of Vapor Trails. I know there are a lot of Rush fans that loved this album but were disappointed with the production. If you're one of those fans you can sign the petition.

On July 7th the Live Earth Concert to Combat Global Warming will take place at several venues all over the world. The US portion will take place at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. Rush is not currently listed as one of the headliners but reader AFarCryfromFBN noted that Rush will be playing in NJ on July 6 and July 8. So Rush will be right in the neighborhood ... maybe they can squeeze it in? We'll see.

And finally, our favorite music producer - Nick Rasculinecz - will be producing the next Coheed and Cambria album! If you aren't familiar with Coheed and Cambria, they are a modern-era progressive rock band that has often been compared to Rush. Thanks to snakenole at Counterparts for the heads up.
