Updates and other random Rush stuff

Fri, Mar 30, 2007@1:03PM | comments removed/disabled

UPDATE - 3/30@10:54PM: Power Windows is reporting that the DVD album release has been delayed one week to May 22nd.

Here are this week's site updates and random news from the world of Rushdom.

The number of registrations continues to grow - almost 400 confirmed users now. Remember - if you're having any issues with registering or logging in, don't hesitate to drop me a line. People also seem to be having way too much fun with the comment confirmation letters. :)

The ticketmaster presale is currently on for selected shows. See this post for details. From what I've read/heard so far people aren't having all that great of luck with it. A few have though. Regular ticket sales start tomorrow.

The Snakes & Arrows DVD album is now unavailable at Amazon presumably because they've run out of stock. It still seems to be available at Best Buy though.

Reader George R informs us that Neil Peart will grace the cover of the June 2007 issue of DRUM! magazine.

Several radio stations across North America are running Rush ticket promotions. Bay area station 1077 KSAN - The Bone is featuring Rush as artist of the week and if you call in when they play Rush you can win tickets (thanks NED07). Boston's 100.7 WZLX is running a contest this weekend to win Rush tickets (thanks leezgirl). Raleigh-Durham's 96 Rock is running a Rush'n Roulette ticket giveaway all this week. These are just a few of the promos - there are many more out there too I'm sure but these are the ones I'm currently aware of.

There are also several radio polls/contests/surveys underway across North America. Rush made it to the Sweet 16 in 97 Rock's March Bandness competition but lost to Lynryd Skynrd. Same deal for Lexington's 100.1 WKQQ's March Bandness; made it to the Sweet 16 but lost to Tom Petty (thanks John). Hamilton's Y108 ran a contest to determine the top 108 albums of all time and 4 Rush albums made the list; Moving Pictures - #19, A Farewell to Kings - #34, Signals - #42, and Permanent Waves - #57 (thanks Rich V). Toronto's Q107 is running a poll where they ask the question What concert are you most looking forward to this summer?. Rush is one of the 4 choices and are currently holding a commanding lead over Roger Waters, Genesis and The Police (thanks Lawrence).

I guess Rush is a Band also got a mention on a few stations last week I'm told; Toronto's Q107 (thanks Scott T), Vancouver's 100.3, the Q (thanks Shirley) and Ottawa's CHEZ106 even linked to the site (thanks kam). Cool.

XanaduRush has posted a bunch of great Rush bootlegs up on YouTube and reader Colin points us to this page which has several free Rush themes for Pocket PCs.

That's it for now. Have a great weekend.
