Rush Influences Everywhere

[Pianist David Nevue]

I stumbled across pianist David Nevue's website while googling over the weekend. He gives several nods to Rush and other progressive rock bands as influencing his music. From his biography:

... Interestingly enough, if you ask David about his musical background he might surprise you. He comes not from a background of polished piano music, but grew up a typical 1980's teenager strongly under the influences of such progressive rock artists as Rush, Pink Floyd, and Kansas. David pursued rock music as a career throughout his college years, playing keyboards for a number of garage bands. ..

He also cites Rush as a major influence and had this to say on his influences page.

It's hard to pick only one or even two Rush albums. Listening to Rush stimulated me intellectually and creatively. They are also part of the reason why I'm fairly intolerant of playing a phrase exactly the same way twice. I'm very paranoid about over-repetition and I want constant progression in a composition. I owe that drive for musical perfection, in part, to listening to the music of this band. 2112 was my first exposure to a 'concept' album, and concept albums are all I've ever done.
